Very cool game! Took me a second to figure out how to play as I never heard of Cheat but after that I enjoyed it! Visuals were great, only complain would be on the font not being easy to read. Other than that well done!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Didn't know this game but it was really fun, thanks for the discovery !

I liked that you used some real pictures, how did you do to "transform" the pictures ?

Developer(+1)

I used some public domain images and aplied to them this cool color palette using Aseprite. To the main menu image, I wanted a little extra distortion, so a also applied this shader from Godot Shaders. Thank you for playing and I'm gald you had fun!

Fun and simple to get into! Only thing I'd suggest is limiting the number of card types. even with each player having 5 cards, it felt rare to have the same card as the value given by the game which made the pass button feel a bit useless. Other than that, I really enjoyed it! Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, it's a good idea. Glad you enjoyed it!

fun simple game, and really smooth animations. the ui gets a little messed up in fullscreen, and i think some gameplay elements could be shown clearer, like what the current card is and how many cards were last played. but still a good execution of a classic game

Developer

Thank you very much for playing and your feedback!

No geral, bem legal o game!

Developer

Muito obrigado! A IA ficou bastante basicona mesmo (e parece que mais mentirosa do que o planejado). Fico feliz que tenha gostado!

Adoro jogar "Mentira", ficou muito bom, parabens!

Muito obrigado!

Cool adaptation of Cheat! Liked the animation and the smoothness of the gameplay. Agree with others that maybe something about the linear progression or the AI could be tweaked, as I called it out as a liar every round and every time it had been dishonest.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Complete with 46 points.
The idea i think is great along with music.
But having the target value starting from ace to king is a little too predictable and too easy to call out bluff (actually i just call the ai lying 100% od the time and more than 90% is correct). Perhaps, having the target value higher to allow player and Ai discards multiple cards and give players chance to actually play 2 or 3 card to reach target value. This will also make it harder to predict whether someone is bluffing or not.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the suggestions, it's a interesting idea!

Great experience! The art and music give it a back alley underground card game vibe. Well done!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Really nice! I love the smoothness of the cards, a simple game but really well made, congrats.

The implementation of the risk element in this game is the best I’ve seen so far—what’s better than combining it with card games? I also loved the way you mixed the cookie element into the card gameplay—it felt really creative and well executed.

As for the game itself, I think it would be helpful to display the card I should play more clearly, maybe on the sides, since I didn’t notice it when I first started. Also, I found that I could always pick “liar” against the enemy AI and it would always be correct—they never seemed to be honest even once 😂.

Overall, this was a great submission, and I really enjoyed my time playing it. Thanks for making such a fun game!

Oh my god, have I created Skynet!? 😂 In theory, the AI simply adds all cards in hand that match the current value to an array. Then, if it has any, it discards a random number of them, and only them. So, if it has the card, in theory, it should tell the truth. I was trying to create something more interesting at the end, with some different simple strategies, like aggressive or suspicious, but I did not have time and rolled back to the simple one. So it's not the most engaging opponent, but it should not be a filthy liar!
The current value is indeed small, and maybe the actual card image could be signaling instead of a small number?
Anyway, many thanks for the feedback and your kind words. I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

Hey I remember playing a game like this when I was younger! Pretty cool!

I had some trouble reading though, as everything seemed too tiny for me. I personally wish the UI was larger. Not sure if this is the intended effect:

Developer(+1)

Oh, it's not intended at all! I think it depends on the user's resolution, but I only exported on the last lags of the jam, and it was too late to address it in time. Thanks for playing and the feedback!

We always play this game with my friends here in Turkey. But shouldn’t the middle card change when both sides say they don’t have it? The game was really fun by the way, congrats!

Developer(+1)

I played a bunch here in Brazil too, but with some little different rules too. For the jam, I felt that the card always moving forward worked better. But maybe with more players a more traditional rule would be great. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you had fun!

Amazing work on the UI VFX for the cards. Nice choice of audio. Though I think I'm thick, and I didn't get how to play this game. But other than that, no bugs, runs fine in the browser, no issues, looks polished... the font could have been better / clearer but that's a minor thing.

Developer

Oh, it is indeed missing a tutorial in it on how to play. Essentially, each player must discard a number of cards matching the current value indicated in the middle. You can lie, but if you get caught, you buy the same number of cards and give a biscuit to your opponent. If you're falsely accused, you win your opponent's biscuit. With you get 0 biscuits, you lose. If you get 0 cards in hand, you win. Thanks for the feedback!

A great game -- the visuals and UI are smooth and well thought out with little animations that make it look very polished. I've never played this type of card game before, but it certainly looks like it may take a little bit of strategy.

Maneiro demais seu jogo! Eu nunca tinha ouvido falar nesse "Cheat"! Interessante!

Thank you!

I thought the UI was kinda small so it was difficult to notice certain details like the current value in the middle of the card pile, but that might have been something with my screen resolution or something like that. Otherwise interesting and like the vibe.

Developer

The current value indeed needs some fixing. Thanks for playing!

Love the hovering effect of the cards..really smooth! I played that game on the beach as a kid..great to see it again!

Quick Suggestions:

  • After the game is over dont rush to go back to the main menu..give a small info on what happened first.
  • The number at the centre could be a big more visible and prominant

Very polished overall and very suitable for the jams theme! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! And thanks for the suggestions, very valuable!

I love the aesthetic, though it took me some time to get to know how to play but it was great trying new games
