I love the art and sound design and am a big fan of the game feel! However, I wasn't quite sure what caused the barrels to explode and died because of the sticky keys notification on the last phase :(

How does the game fit the theme?
The game establishes a false sense of security while hinting at inevitable disaster. Just follow orders and nothing can go wrong... right?
Scavenger is breaking into an abandoned military bunker, in search of a valuable relic. This implies danger, hidden traps, and/or unexpected consequences.
The contrast between reassurance (just follow orders) and the obvious potential for things to go wrong is ironic, which reinforces the theme.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything is from scratch

This is a well polished game =D good job. I love the movement of the character. This game would be so satisfying with a controller!
I love that the story, the "enter a bunker and steal stuff" part, is just a tutorial for the boss fight :D
Beautiful pixel art. The sound effects really make the guns, bombs and laser feel like a real threat.
I've played enough games to know that a barrel with a flame symbol on it means "boom", so I had no problem understanding what to do once I got to the boss. The difficulty was good for a game jam, but could probably be ramped up if you continue working on this. The laser beam was really the only weapon that could score a hit, if you were carrying a barrel.
Good job!
Full game when?!!!! I love this game already, from the pixel visual, the smooth movement and dodge roll to explosive audio design. "Enter the Gungeon" successor perhaps!
Very fun boss fight! Dodge roll visual feels swift and powerful.
This was a surprise even after reading the comments and expecting it! The mechanics of this fight were interesting, and I really like how the boss' legs move. How does that work? It's so cool.
Hehe! Actually The Real Tim Shady was the one in charge of the legs. He really did some wizardry type stuff with them.
Thanks I'm glad you like it! The legs are actually based off of this really good video I happened to watch before the jam:
Basically, you make the legs stay still and have a desired position for each leg from the body, then when the body moves, if the distance between the leg position and the desired position is more than a certain distance, it runs the animation and steps. Then there is some weird stuff with making sure it doesn't step when the leg next to it steps and some other tweaks I did to make it look a bit better.
The spider robot following the mouse in the tittle screen is very cool, the fight and the art of the spider are great! I went off the map destroying all the boxes hopping to find a secret, but my character sprite just diseapeared >.< Is it there something hide? Because if there is i wanna find it!
loved the art, really liked how the boss moved and the intro to the mechanics, very fun!
I agree. Below are the key contributors involved with the items you highlighted. I expect they’ll continue to do great things!
- art - Sticky Soup
- spider movement - The Real Tim Shady
- design - Josiah
- tutorial/intro - benmccrae
Thanks for the feedback!
wow, the gameplay and the animations are both good and fluid. the artstyle is very nice too. the suprise of falling into of boss fight got me and it was short but intense.
really well done !
animations are both good and fluid.
Sticky Soup killed it right?! Keep an eye on this one, the next LeBron James of the animation world haha!
surprise of falling into of boss fight got me sick!
Thank you!
I WANT MORE! Incredible! Made me a bit stressed, but I managed to destroy that wild robot.
Thanks! Honestly was the first non-long format game I’ve been a part of and I loved every second of it.
I will definitely continue to play around with new ideas in gamejams in the near future.
I was lucky enough to be onboarded by JoFromTroodon, just because I happened to work him in the past. The team that was assembled was top notch!
Really short but really solid, it's a great game. I loved running from its attacks.
Took me a second to figure it, out but was really fun once I did
The first part has me thinking it was the main game but boy was I not ready, still barley managed to squeeze through on the first try and a sliver of health
Really like the looks and your music great
This is awesome! Music, art, and that giant spider robot thing were great!
