It certainly doesn't fit the theme very well, but it's not bad as a concept. I bet you could add a lot to add some intrigue.

Developer

Thanks, yeah I'm aware lol. My original idea for the theme much better, but I couldn't hack it. I need to learn how to do car physics.

Nice and simple concept, would have love to see some weapon upgrades (roguelite style) but I understand with the limited time and working solo, great job!

Developer(+1)

Definitely. I plan to add a lot more to the game once the jam is over. Thanks for playing!

Nice concept! Keep it up :) I died right before killing my 3rd alien ship :O

I would have added some more variety into the game with more enemies, though for 7 days as solo it was a good way to test a single mechanic and expand, :) Well done!

One thing that I clearly see as a success, compared to mine, is that your game play loop is short enough to keep players engaged, :) Kudos! Learning by playing other people’s game is helpful :D

Thanks bro! Hope to see you in the next one! I bet you would have crushed this one. 💪

I've been reading the comments and I saw that you started another project first and then decided to do this one on your own. Keeping that in mind, I want to congratulate you because I enjoyed several aspects of this game, such as the aiming and shooting, the particles left by the aliens when they die, and their design, as well as the dialogue for the control tutorial, which feels friendly and approachable. I would have appreciated a bit more variety in the gameplay, but I understand that time is limited and you're working solo. That said, I didn't quite understand how it fits with the theme of the jam.

Developer

Thanks. I had a hard time figuring out what to make for the jam, my original idea was a car game where you have to try and commit insurance fraud and are chased by car mechanics trying to fix your car lol it would have fit the theme a lot better but I had to scramble another idea because I couldn't get the car physics to work and all I had done was a really crappy car model. Hopefully my next jam I will be more prepared with an idea that fits the theme.

Cool game man, i found a bug that if you left click before aiming, then when you aim the character shoots in the ground.

Developer

Thanks :) and thank you for pointing out that bug. I am aware of it but not sure how to fix it so I will probably wait until the jam is over to work on that.

Really liked where you were going with this game. Isometric / 3D style shooter.

I started shooting at the space ships before I realized there was a counter for this. I was born to play this game! Haha.

Encountered no bugs, game ran flawlessly. Easy to play. Loved it, great job dude!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Nice idea of a game and I did see you tried! I never used visual scripting before but I guess that's not remotely easy to use. Anyway, the game is decent enough, there is a gameplay loop going on but I  would hope the game increases in difficulty the further you play so that it doesn't get boring after playing for a while. Being able to shoot down the UFOs is definitely an interesting idea, and adding in some effect that indicates one being destroyed would be a welcoming addition. For me I never realised that one is destroyed until someone pointed out that the number in the UI is different.

Anyway, keep making games and have fun!

Developer

Thanks so much! I did intend to add a lot more, I just didn't have much time. The first few days, I was working on a different idea that I ended up scrapping and started over. I wanted to add particle effects and an explosion sound for the saucer, items you could pick up, and more of an interesting game loop. As for the visual scripting asset I use, it actually is extremely easy to use. I barely spent that much time on this project because I was procrastinating a lot lol.. If you ever need something to make prototyping and even full development quicker and easier, I highly recommend Game Creator 2. The developer of the asset is also very kind and responsive and he is always open to suggestions. The discord is full of really cool people too. My favorite asset on the Unity asset store :)

Twin stick shooters are my absolute favorite. The aiming mechanic seemed very interesting and different, but didnt appear to do much to change the gameplay. I would be curious to see results from experimenting with that. Never could take down a UFO, they're just in and out so dang fast. The characters are also endearing, I wisj I had had the chance to see them from another angle where we could get a good look at our hero and his foes.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I will take what you said into consideration when I update the game after the jam is over :)
