Working in a budget shop where you are the only employee at the till, with a never ending queue, a faulty system, and even people trying to cheat by sticking discount labels onto normal goods, are surely going to go well. Surely Nothing can go wrong... right?

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Cool game, I loved the style and it really painted a cool picture. Personally I thought the tutorial could've been more clear, as it took a while for me to figure out what was going on, but after that it was great!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeh we need to make the tutorials a bit clearer. Thanks for the kind words!

pretty fun game! I just thought the tutorial was a little confusing or sometimes the gameplay could be, but its pretty fun once you figure out what you're doing

I loved the job orientation tutorial. Super clever and simple.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Hope you are also having a laugh with those doodles on the orientation screens!

Thank you for playing regardless! Sadly, we don't realise that not all devices is capable of performing right clicks :( will try to find a way to remedy that once the rating period has ended.

A surprisingly well made game about working as a cashier.  I feel someone was working from experience.

Developer
Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

One of our team members do have cashier experience, and there comes many of the whacky ideas they may or may not have put into the game. Time is just never enough!

This was a phenomenal game! I mean this in the nicest way possible, but this made me want to die. The physics on scanning the items truly gave me the despair one may feel working in a grocery store.

The polish on the audio and art was top notch. Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! I hope irl grocery is not as harsh as how this game presented, but I have heard horrible stories. Anyway, thanks for the kind words and praises!

Summary: 5 stars across the board. This was very fun and very challenging overall. Really loved the hard mechanic of the holding items. Blue screening immediately reminded me of the spaceforce scene blue screening from the show. The music jingle fit perfectly for the shop as well. Well made for all languages.

what I want to see:

I think more cutscenes. Maybe a night shift cycle?

what should improve:

  • Fixing the 2nd to last photo in the tutorial. Felt very confusing as I did not understand what it was trying to say.
  • HTML version felt a little wonky at first on the loadup.
Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game!

Comic-styled cutscenes were originally planned but scrapped due to time constraints, the price of always overscoping jams I guess. It would be a good idea to add back the cutscenes, and night shift cycles if we are to further develop the game. Seems like there is a lot that can be done. The last two slides are probably badly made as it's a combination of lack of time and trying to convey too much and complex ideas on a single page without any words. I am sure there will be a better way to do that though.

Anyway, thanks for the kind feedback!

Annoying but keeps you playing 😁 The game looks great!

Scanning an item too many times caused BSOD which made me laugh.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The BSOD is a joke we've made during brainstorming and I am glad we've decided to put it in game.

Game was a lot of fun! Watching the tutorial had me go like "Oh okay" to "What in the world is it saying". Felt like it fit into the nothing can go wrong topic very well.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The tutorials get messier because no one is really paying attention to staff orientation, even the manager. But hey it's fun!

Cool game! It was hard to understand at first but later it was very fun!

Thank you! Glad you enjoy the game!

Very well polished game, I'm super impressed. You would think if the store owner was gonna be so strict about shopper satisfaction, they'd provide better tools to do the job. Such is life. Wonderful little game, you should be proud of this :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! We spent a lot of time polishing the game, and we are glad you enjoyed it. Nah tools cost money and how can you make a profit in a budget with that much spending XD

Wow!! I love the art and color palette for this game! The gameplay is really fun too!
The way you have to think how to use the different items makes for a very nice puzzle! I really think you made something special and very polished for such a short jam! With only two people!

I laughed so hard when I got the bluescreen!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Hope you enjoyed that moment when you got a bluescreen at the least favourable timing.

I love the concept of this game - it is very stressful and cute all at the same time the art is really well done and the music really feels like I am in a shopping mall going about my mundane day

I would love to see an ending where you guy just rages and flips the table and walks out haha
good work guys! <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! That ending sounds very funny and would come in handy if we are to develop the game further, especially if the game is much lengthier and no longer an endless game. We will see. Thank!
