How does the game fit the theme?
I took the theme as a challenge, or perhaps.. a threat?

Can't Lose is a minimalist puzzle platformer where the game really wants you to win, so the question is, how can you lose?

If you get stuck on a level the name is usually a bit of a clue, if you're still stuck you can always press esc to return to the menu and use the level select to skip

Also, just out of curiosity, leave a comment if you complete the last level, i'm a little worried its a bit tricky to work out

*** Thank you to everyone who's played so far, and thank you for all the feedback! I won't update the game during the Jam, but i am working on improving the feel of the game right now, and have a fair few new level ideas i would like to try out after the Jams finished***

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Music from https://www.fesliyanstudios.com/
sound effects from https://archive.org/

A simple yet amazing way to interpret the game jam's theme ! :D Thank you for this ! :D The level 6 was a little bit hard to pass though (but maybe I'm just no that good haha)

We laughed out loud playing this game! It reminded me of Cat Mario but the opposite goal. I am not good at playing platform games so I made my partner play it instead while I help work out the "how" based on the level title.

We did finish the game so it's not too tricky. Well it is tricky but the title did help ;P

Awesome job!

Super clever take on the theme! I love platformers and this was a breath of fresh air. Simple but very fun and every level was a surprise.

Very fun game, quite challenging as well, but fun :D

This was awesome! I think there's a game that has a similar style to it but I remember what it's called. Either way this was really fun and I enjoyed everything about it. I really think that adding any audio at all would have added a whole lotta juice to it, but if you do more with this then I'm sure you already have that in mind. Great entry!

Love it! We did a similar twist to the theme, you did it way funnier tho haha

I never felt so happy to be called a loser by a game! Thank you for this great experience haha

One of my favourite game in this jam for sure. Cleverly designed more than 10 levels. Well Done!

Really clever! I played this for way longer than I thought I was going to 😂

Baba is you meets one lovingly annoying platformer. Was a ton of fun, that sneaky flag coming from behind walls and spike moving aways. Great use of the theme

Developer

Firstly, just played your game and it was amazing!

Secondly, thank you so much for your kind words, very flattered to be compaired to Baba is you! I was talking to a friend a few days ago about how that game is a gold standard level design and taking a simple idea and running with it :)

I beat it! Very impressed by the level design. Levels felt like something I'd find in "The Elephant Collection" flash games.

This Is a Great Example of Nothing Can Go Wrong , i enjoyed it. Good Luck

Really clever take on the theme! Took me a little while to figure out, but some interesting puzzles in there. Found the jumping a little sluggish, I think making it more responsive would make the game even better!

Excellent game. Every level is fun and original. The movement could be a bit better, but it works great with that type of game. Well done.

As others said, I think the gameplay really held the game back (the slow jump and acceleration) since the character couldn't react as fast you want. I had more frustrations with trying to move the character than with the traps themselves.

Also the character and flag seem a bit blurry. Maybe you didn't put their filter mode in the sprite import settings in Unity to Point (no filter). It's always something to remember with pixel art assets.

But I'm really nitpicking, the game was really fun and reminicsent to old flash games. I had a lot of fun despite of the movements, great job!

Wow one of my favorites from this jam! Good job!

I feel like you put a lot of effort in the level design, which feels really great. The most fun game I played during this game jam so far.
However, this game would benefit a lot from polishing movement and overall look of the game. Also wasn't able to beat 15 lvl, what's the solution for it? :)

Developer

For sure needs some polish on the movement, I've been tweaking it for days but it's still not quite there..

Also.. for level 15, did you check the instructions?

At first when I saw spikes are disappearing I though you have to find one which won't disappear. But I've run through all of them and didn't notice the way to die from the spike.

Developer

Did you check the instructions?
