If I'm being honest, it was a little buggy. And I mean that in the best way (because it was an ant game). In all seriousness music was great. Movement felt good. I really could have used a check point sooner in the game. Really great game. Thanks for sharing.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it, we didn't thought about checkpoints on time 😅 Thanks for playing! :)

Nice game , I like the idea of an an moving also up and down... it is quite hard. good job

Developer

Thank you!
Once you get familiar with it, it becomes manageable in a short time.

Pretty cool game, movement feels good most of the time - the thorns' hitboxes are annoying at times.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it :)

Yes, those hotboxes definitely gonna have some improvement after the rating period 😅

Make a forgiving movement

Fun spin on the theme! Loved how we could walk on walls, that was pretty good.

Developer

thank you!

The music for this game was amazing and the graphics were fantastic. The walking on walls was unique and the end was pretty. Overall very well done. :D

Fun Game, nice music, goof job:)

Developer

I'm glad you liked it :) the music was done in half a day because I was rushing learning how to make the game to work 😅

Nice arts. Well made mechanic. It was a bit sad to turn back every time I die :/ Different than other games in jam. Good job!

Can you try and rate my game ?

Developer (1 edit)

yeah, it's kind frustrating I know haha, we wanted to add some checkpoints but we couldn't do it on time to submit it. I hope we will continue the game and add some of those stuff in the future. Thanks!
I already rated your game, it's pretty cool!

Good graphics and music effects. Nice work)

Developer

thanks!

The ant and anthill theme was not something I expected to see from the jam theme and I'm pleasantly surprised to see it here! And a platformer built entirely around a wall climbing mechanic is something that I think definitely has potential.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much! The idea sounds pretty fun and it was necessary to make the ant walk on the walls, I'm happy you like it!

I feel the moving isn't too smooth. When the ant stands at the edge, the visual will be broken!
Also, (Personally) The move up is really frustrating, I think you can use A or D instead of W and S for climbing. And I dont understand why when I hold W and D then space to jump, the ant just jump very shortly and fall to the spike(?). And adding some save points  is also great(or it already has but I havent reached there)!
Aside from that, this game really did well in Ant movement :D, the graphic and sound are completely fit too! But maybe add somethings to do with the leaf, like just holding it and moving to the nest is a big waste to the potential of this game!!!

Developer(+1)

Yooo thanks for the feedback :)

I also thought about what would be more intuitive for the climbing, if A and D, or W and S, or both (I guess it is a matter of playtesting with a lot of people), I went with the W and S option, so it was easier for me to use A and D for fall out of the walls on purpose without extra coding, a bit of laziness there 😆

About jumping very shortly when holding W and D, I didn't notice you are right, I see now the ant walks slower when holding W and D over holding only D, so when jumping the horizontal length of the jump is less (the jump height seems the same though)

I think it is because I used the new unity input system so (in my unexperienced opinion 😅) it seems to be optimized more for a top-down type of movement like when using a joystick, if you hold D the horizontal velocity is 1, but if you hold W and D the horizontal and vertical velocity are around 0.70~, which I think is the reason the ant walk slower when holding 2 buttons (I think that wouldn't happen in a 2D top-down game or a movement in a 3D space

About the save points you are totally right, I'll be working on implementing some checkpoints 😆
We also wanted to do more with the leaf but our inexperience and the time restriction were bigger issues this time 😅

I'm glad you liked the game and found those details, thank you for playing! :D

The music, and visuals are amazing and the idea of climbing as an ant is too, only problem is the hitboxes sometimes dont work and my jump ends up failing. Still great game

Developer

Yep the jumping can feel tricky sometimes, I know there were several stuff should have done to make it feel better, thanks for the feedback :D

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy you enjoyed all the details :)

This was so well done! The art was incredible and there was a huge quantity of different assets. The lighting looked great and the mechanic was implemented really well. The music was awesome! I really liked the instrument choices and cadence, really felt like marching ants. Incredible that you guys did this quality in a week, let alone while being new to unity. Well done!

Developer

So nice you noticed those stuff like the big amount of assets and the music cadence, I'm happy you liked it :D we were figuring out how to do everything on the road, so a lot of googling and iterations to make the things to work decently 😆

Submitted(+1)

Nice! I love being a little ant dude. The climbing mechanic works nicely, and the music and art is well done as well!

Developer

I'm glad yout enjoyed it, thanks for playing :)

It's fun to crawl around on the walls, definitely gave me the ant fantasy that I wanted. I couldn't tell where the checkpoints were located and got stuck on a particularly long section. Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks for playing! There is no checkpoints 😅 I there should be ofc but I didn't think about them and or how to do them on time 😆

Submitted(+2)

Cool game I enjoyed being the ant and jumping onto the walls, the music was well written and definately gave off a marching ant sort of vibe, the art was great too! well done team :)

Developer(+1)

Yooo I appreciate the music compliment :D, I'm glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for playing! :)

Submitted(+1)

Music is hard you guys nailed it :)

Developer

thank you! :) This jam was a great opportunity to learn and work together, and I think we are a good team!

Submitted(+2)

Nice game! I liked that you could climb on the walls, and the art style was really neat. Also, it seemed that you could take multiple paths to the end, which is really cool.

Developer

Thanks :) yeah the idea was to make the map somewhere in between hollow knight Metroidvania vibes and a classic anthill you could have at home, so we wanted to give a bit of labyrinth vibes to it
