Very interesting concept! Though it does feel mostly probability-based and less player-driven, which makes it repetitive because if you lose, you just have to try again and see if rng favors you this time. The sounds are satisfying and the controls feel fine, but I suggest making the art a bit more consistent and polishing a bit. Good game overall!

I like that there is strategy involved in a boss rush game. I also like the art style. Good game!!

Absolutely love the art style, the dialogue of the characters, as well as the idea. Really felt like I was playing an old school RPG on my gba. Unfortunately as cool as everything about the game is, it did feel like I had no control over anything happening in the game, due to the nature of the rock paper scissors.

To increase player agency and not feel like everything is 100% random, you could maybe give the player the option to build their own deck. Alternatively you could provide the player knowledge on whats coming, so they can prepare for it, possibly in the form of being able to use a power to see what the next 3 cards your opponent will play, or even just straight up knowing what your opponent is about to play and then buff the enemy HPs and their power cards to increase challenge.

I don't know if any of this is a good solution, but some form of design decision to limit randomness would make the game significantly better imo. Anyway you did an absolutely fantastic job with the aesthetics, and this is definitely the most creative idea I've seen this jam.

Great concept and good art style. I find the conversations with other characters funny, especially with Mrs. Agatha when I couldn't fight her yet, calling her a lady, and the mc a grasshopper. Lol. I really enjoyed playing the game, though I kept on losing 😅. It's nice how a casual game of rock paper scissors is made into a whole new concept, and very engaging  fun game at that!

This game is super cute, I love it. Love the pokemon battle intros, the little quips your opponent says during the fight, the artstyle, it’s all so cute and fun.

Also one of my favorite realizations in this game is that each character seems to have specific deck types? Like the basketball boss seemed to have mostly rocks, and realizing that felt so good. Really cool to subvert the expectation of pure randomness that rock-paper-scissors usually implies by having characters favor certain cards. (it’s also possible I imagined this lol)

And honestly, even with the remaining randomness, I still found it engaging in the way that rock paper scissors tends to be. Like I found myself often saying stuff like “yeah level 3 rock, this wins this turn 100%” and then winning a turn and somehow convincing myself I was a genius.

Lastly, I loved the little flavor text on the cards. “Defeated Sisyphus” is really funny. Great game!

I'm not usually one for card games, but this was really nice. Good student archetypes! About as random as any game of RPS would be.

Deck of rock paper scissors.

BTW good world setting and art.

I haven't played many card battlers but this has some great mechanics and introduces the theme in a simple but effective way.

Very simple and fun. I was able to beat everyone.

a very charming mix of artstyles, it relies a bit much on luck though. I couldn't beat Agatha :(

The approach is quite intriguing. Unfortunately, in a battle, you can't get much if you've lost good cards due to bad luck and then the opponent easily exploits the advantage till the end.

Visually, the classroom does make quite an impression; however, during the battle, I would have appreciated a few visual effects, and the displays of special cards were very fast. I could barely read what a card does.
