Really fun game! A bit unclear at start but lots of fun at the end!

quite nice, a bit confusing at first, and it took a while to understand the gameplay but overall very fun game with quite the artstyle, I especially like the CRT effect so good job!

You really amped up the retro aesthetics here. This was a lot of fun!

This game is awesome, you went a little overboard with the post-processing but it was super fun to play.

Developer

Thank you! Overboard with post-processing? Yes, maybe, ok definitely. Yes. I love it.

The CRT distortion effect was way over done...

This game is awesome I really enjoy the hyper-retro style you went for. Took me a sec to figure out that the autocrafter is the bottom of the screen (thought it was just the hud, realized what it was after actually reading the instructions).

The gameplay feels tight, I like that the character isn't too fast so you really have to think about your movements, which is important especially when the screen size is small. cool game!

The game fits the theme really well and I like that. The art style feels unique and retro in a cool way. The third boss felt like a big difficulty spike as some attacks seemed quite hard to avoid. Cool game overall though nice work!

Developer

Congrats on making it to the third boss! Some tips for it are to keep your machine gun filled with ammo, keep the boss in the middle, and shoot him only while he does the laser.

I wasn't sold on the first boss, but after that it felt really better. It's instant fun and most of the game mecanics felt right, except for crafting the ammo, I'm not sure about having only one place to throw the parts being at a corner instead of being in the middle.

The story is a nice addition, but felt like long text, maybe it could have been sold better (like maybe having the character say things himself with dialog boxes after each fight? I don't know). Boss 3 is definitely challenging, a bit unfair even with having both minions AND bombs at the very beginning of the fight. I had a good time though!

I love the CRT-esque style of the game, it's pretty fun trying to avoid the boss while also trying to make more ammo. I did notice some random text that had blocked some of the important stuff on screen while trying to fight the boss, but other than that it's nicely put together!

The retro TV vibe and story make me think of some of the best ARG-style games out there. I think it adds a lot of charm to the game. Don't walk into the junkyard, Jim!

Cool CRT aesthetic, also- maybe it's because there's not many of them, but any submissions with some narrative tickle me in the right way!

As for the gameplay- I could see some ways it could be improved. The second boss was kind of confusing to me at first. I thought it was a glitch when he teleported, but turns out that's how he rolls! Maybe some sound or particle effects could be there to accentuate that. Also I didn't get past him as of writing this :(

Two more things I liked- I like when bosses have minions and yours do! Also, you took the makeshift theme pretty seriously, so that's cool.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback! Because there are still 2 hours left of the game jam, I added a little teleport animation for the cardboarrd guy. Here's some advice on beating the second boss:

  1. Take out his minions one at a time with the rocket launcher, making sure to not lose much health at the start of the battle
  2. Use the machine gun to hit away his bullets and shoot the boss, trying to corner him to deal more damage before he teleports.
  3. Make sure to always have gold on hand to reload before you run out of ammo. If you do run out of ammo, you could temporarily switch to your rocket launcher, but the machine gun has a higher damage rate and is better at blocking the enemy's cardboard.
  4. Never give up...

The art style is cool, and the game has some nice effects.

I couldn't figure out how to make the ammunition, I looked at the game page but the info wasn't there, I rummage lots of items, but nothing happened. I resorted to defeat the bosses with the mines that appear

I was able to reach the second fight and the last guy was just about to lose when I die for something, probably something in the ground? No projectile was thrown in my and Is hard to figure out what thing was what.

I really tried to make the bullets, but I couldn't

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I'll update the game page with information on how to craft bullets. Also the cardboard guy has the ability to teleport, so he might have teleported on top of you... I'll see what I can do. Thanks again!

Alright, I updated the game a lot, I hope you all have fun playing!

wow the graphics artstyle is cool !
