Good job! I really like the artstyle and the way you leave behind a path, though sadly the resolution is too big, so I couldn't see everything :/
EDIT: After reading some comments I scaled the tab down, I like how you did the UI :)
I really enjoyed the visual style and sounds of the game! I really like how the maze paths are revealed when you've travelled them, it's very helpful and doesn't confuse me to the point of getting stuck like in other maze games that stay dark throughout. Awesome job!
Thank you very much!
Yup, i didn't make the "fog of war" the coolest way i could (it's just black tiles which disappear on collision with main character and not some cool mesh like the one i use for field of view), but with the amount of time i had - i guess "If it works - it's good enough".
That was a fun little game with great atmosphere, sound design, and art. It was a fun challenge.
What does "less is more" have to do with the game though? I just took the souls one at a time to the center. Then I tried gathering them all at once and there wasn't anything different (though I died before I got them all).
What was the third ending? I died, got all the souls to the center, but idk what the last one is.
Overall, great job with the game and especially with your artwork.
Thank you for the feedback!
Well, when you bring souls to the statue by batches, ending is different! :)
Much darker, i would say! Because more souls per bottle do not satiate Spaida Frokk enough and in the end it eats soul of the hero too!
So less is more? :D Kinda?
Anyway, thank you for your kind words!)
I love anything to do with eldritch horrors or old gods so I really appreciated the "colorful" art-style for this game :)
Also it's impressive how you have multiple different endings! One thing is (similar to other people) even if I do press F11 for Chrome I can't see all of the UI so I had to figure out myself what the controls were.
Overall, a solid entry ^_^
Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it!
Yep, i made a mistake with a resolution, but changing scale of the page with "Ctrl -" solves the problem.
I wish that i tested that moment more before posting.
Anyways, next time i won't make this mistake, so i guess it's a fine part of a learning process for me!
Very atmospheric and fun game with really nice sprites and visual effects. Well done :)
Super nice! Love the sense of progression you get by slowly revealing the whole screen, kinda reminds me of Darkwood! Also, Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!
Thanks! Yep, adding "fog of war" was a good decision in the end, when game turned out to be more difficult, than i expected. :D
This is way better than my first game! Really good job with the visuals and how you slowly reveal the map. Only issue I ran into was that scaling was weird for my screen's resolution. I couldn't really see all the UI. It was tricky to find the 'Start' button's click zone and the upper and lower portions of the map aren't visible. Might just be my screen's weird resolution (Mac retina display). Overall, very cool game though!
Would appreciate it if you check my game out!
Yeah, i intended for game to be fullscreen and that did cause problems with scaling for some people. Problem is solved by pressing F11 (in chrome) and/or changing scale of the website to smaller one so you can make game fullscreen. About safari - dunno, i will try it on Mac later today!
Probably i should write this in the description! Thank you very much for the feedback!
I will!
This is a very good first game. I like that what you don't see is in the dark. Gameplay is classic. I saw the tribute to pacman :) . Perhaps, some checkpoints or shorter levels would have been great. Well done.
Thank you for kind words and feedback! Idea of the game was to fit completely on one screen, like one-page dungeon in some tabletop roleplaying games, but maybe i consider adding some checkpoint feature!
I like this!
It's very simple, but it executes those simple ideas very well.
I have 2 main problems; 1 is that it's not really all that clear how to get the best ending, and 2 there's a few rooms that are kinda unfair. For example, on the top leftmost room, in order to see what's at the end of the hallway you MUST take damage. Furthermore, you can't see far enough in it to know if there's a soul or not there, forcing you to go there and take damage to see. (There isn't one there, making this specially infuriating).
Other than that, I really like the game. Ya did a great job!
Btw, I'd say the game would be better if the camera was more zoomed in so you couldn't see the entire map at once. Having the camera more zommed in and close to the protagonist would help with the immersion and to give a claustrophobic feeling, plus allowing you to get lost. Getting lost with a super close camera in this game would be super cool, specially considering the salt trail mechanic to help you re-orient yourself.
Overall, really cool game!
Oh, big thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I will try to improve the game in the future, so we will see what comes!
1. Yep, well, it's supposed to be hard to get, but i see that it probably can be better. In the beginning i planned the frog to say some useful and maybe funny stuff every time when you feed it, but didn't really had time to implement this. Maybe after the gamejam i'll do it!
2. Very interesting, i'll certainly look into this, when i'll get a chance! But, frankly, it's kinda fun to know that labyrinth has such rooms. :D You know, in dark souls'ie way.
From the beginning i planned the game to be "full dungeon on full screen", but you know what, i think that, maybe, i can make the game to show the whole map when you in the center, but as you move into the labyrinth, camera moves closer. Could be fun, will totally try it! Good idea!
Again, thank you very much for the great feedback!
i loved this game a lot its my 2nd favorite jam game so far! i played it fully but died right before the ending, was a bit annoying so i didnt get an ending! i would have loved for the game to restart to the last you deposited souls!
Thanks you for kind words! Yep, the game turned out pretty challenging, it's true! Can you believe that, at some point, i planned to have a timer on top of that? And an enemy which would pursue a player? Wild. I will think about adding checkpoints, thanks for the feedback!
Beautiful art
