I'm terrible at bullet hells but thanks to small mode and unlimited lives, i managed to beat the game. Great visuals and music/SFX. Felt like something like this would be a very good trainer/tutorial for the bullet hell genre in general. Nicely done!

How does your game represent Mode?
You switch between a big mode and a small mode in the game. In small mode, you are able to move slower to dodge projectiles, but you lose the ability to shoot. In big mode you are harder to hit but can kill enemies with your bullets.

i must've died a million times lol. the presentation is amazing, it looks and sounds gorgeous. i love the different types of bullet patterns and how they work with each other making for interesting ways to balance dodging and shooting. loved it!
Always liked shmups but I've always been bad at them. Small mode is a great addition to make it a bit easier for people like me to get through, combined with the slower pacing. Still got a D rank.
Great execution, I'm glad you made it ranked instead of limited lives so people who suck (like me) can still see everything
Nice work! Fun take on a bullet hell. I think some of the later enemies having large health pools didn't really add much to the gameplay other than drawing out a bit, however. All in all though it plays well and is a well-executed experience. Well done!
Fun shmup style game with some cool visuals. Controls feel tight and intuitive as well. Good work!
Neat twist on the genre! The premise is really unique. I liked the feeling I got when I was able to navigate those tight spaces in small mode. The enemy patterns felt really distinct and I liked the pacing. I did have some trouble with the enemies on the lower part of the screen but the infinite lives definitely helped.
Wow, really cool game! I really had fun and enojoyed the presentation. I have a few little nitpicks:
> enemies really close to the bottom of the screen felt a bit unfair
> later basic enemies had too much hp and were tedious to kill
> The rank is a bit unforgiving if you ask me. I didn't feel like i was doing that poorly but still go an F :D
Also, the kill count is kinda useless if there is no way to game-over and enemies don't despawn
Yes I do think the rank might be a little unforgiving. I took my own average score throughout testing and gave myself a "C", but now you know if you get better than a C you're better than me ;)
Yeah some of them prolly have a bit too high in HP near the end, and the enemies near the bottom are annoying too. If I build this game out further I want to consider having more live movement in enemies that sink to the bottom and come back up, but the stationary ones will stay near the top.
Nice game! I haven't played many bullet hells but I thought the difficulty was paced really well. The music theme was great too!
Great game! My maneuvering was horrendous, but was able to find some sweet spots within the patterns!
so glad you reviewed my game or else I might’ve missed this gem, easily one of my favorites from this jam
This is awesome! One of the better jam games. I like the unique mechanic.
It got very hard, which is fine, but it felt unfair when enemies would spawn in super close to the bottom of the screen.
Really nice design overall!
Thank you for playing! Yes, I definitely made it a little difficult, but I hoped that the infinite lives / ranking mechanic would keep people engaged enough to keep going till the end. :D
Good comment about the enemy positioning at the bottom. I think I will consider moving them up if I update this further.
YEAH!!!
That's the first bullet hell game I've played since I was a kid and it definitely brings me back in time :'')
There's something about this style that just makes me want more levels and specially more SHOOTING haha
5/5 in everything, thank you for making me feel this way...nostalgia hits hard :')...by all means, I hope you win
Thank you for your kind comments! Maybe we will expand it with a few more levels and power ups eventually. We had originally planned for a couple more bosses but we ran out of time! I’m so glad you enjoyed the nostalgic genre, I used to play a few of these as a kid too and it was so much fun coming up with the bullet patterns like in those games.
This game is awesome! My main criticism is that there is no timer as a part of the ranking system. Since the enemies are not aggressive and the patterns are easy to learn, the game encourages really slow play in order to get a good ranking.
