Cool Game Idea!
I got a bit frustrated after trying to push falling boxes and getting them locked in a corner, such that I had to reset.
I'm not sure why the sprite flips sides when swapping sides, is it teleporting or are you rotating something? maybe just doing gravity = - default_gravity would've fixed that issue? Otherwise, I would've made sure, that when you put a box in a position, you should also be able to reverse it (at least if you design your levels in such a way, where you need them to be at different places). Maybe you could've done a "pickup" system? I know it's not easy and the one I implemented for my game also wasn't perfect, but it would've made the game a lot more enjoyable since the core mechanic really is fun!
Thanks for the feedback! The level design was very finnicky due to the weird physics and how it interacts with objects. I'm not sure about the sprite flipping, i didn't notice if it does that but if so it'll be an easy fix. The object interaction can definitely be adjusted and changed for future change!
Hey mate. Some feedback:
- I wish the player wasn't a ball. Besides that, the game looks nice tho.
- I wish some kind of SFX would be present when something goes above a button.
I could not beat your game, as pushing boxes on the reversed gravity side is too janky IMO.
Thanks for the feedback. Definitely hard to make level design using the weird physics, it caused a lot of collision bugs, so making levels took most of the time. In future we would definitely want to add more sfx, when we added a button sfx the hitbox kept going off making spam sfx so we ditched it due to time restraints (the pressure plate button not UI button) we forgot about the ui sfx so we only managed to make one last minute for clicking. NGL i had no idea what to do other than a ball, so for the sake of simplicity i kept it a ball, the compression made it look a little ugly though.
This really reminds me of Ibb and Obb haha. Really cool idea, very unique and executed nicely. Good job!
Thanks!
It's such an interesting approach to the theme! I love the song too!
I think I found a bug where, if you press the menu after you started the game, you won't be able to move unless you reset the stage.
It can also be a little frustrating to have the box stuck since you don't have any way to pull them from a wall, unless you reset the stage.
Also, it's I think it needs some player feedback when doing actions such as playing a sound when the lever is pulled, or changing the sprite when the button is pressed. when we're close to a lever, it would be great to see some indication that we can do an action, such as a highlight.
I do think this concept is full of potential for a puzzle tho. With a little polishing, I'm sure you can make a great game out of it! it was really creative!!!
Thanks, I'm definitely going to change a couple things as suggested once the jam is over. :) Your feedback is definitely appreciated.
I rated and played your game yesterday and forget to leave a message... Sorry about that! I love the mechanics and the take on the theme! Excellent execution, visuals are simple, but not simpler. Awesome audio! It's a good job! Well done!
Thanks for your kind words!
Greate work on theme, gameplay, and music.
If you're unable to move after pressing play, best bet is to refresh your page. Just a heads up to those people not leaving comments if this issue occurs.
Interesting take on the theme and core gameplay, good idea to distord the music while in the second dimension too! While playing I thought of two potential improvements that could improve the game:
- the ability to switch position with a block when close to it, to avoid the issue when a block is stuck and you have to reset the whole level (which can be frustrating for the player)
- add a vertical dead zone to the camera (if you used cinemachine with unity there is the option to do that), because when you start to move fast between the two sides it can be very nauseous with the camera moving very very fast to keep the player in the center of the screen
Still a pretty solid entry in the jam even with those problems, so overall good job :)
Thanks for your feedback, I'll definitely look into implementing those features.
Nice take on the theme the physics of the ball is really cool, a bit hard but cool
Thanks for the feedback!
Close but not quite :)
No this
really cool take on the theme, It got hard really soon, the boxes slipped i thought that was super fun it was a little frustrating but i had a good time most of the time the art is good the music actually wasn't cursed, only one thing i will say is some sound effects will be good but seriously impressed by the result, Awesome Game =D
Thanks for the feedback and nice response!
This is a solid little game! It was a bit frustrating, but I dont have anything else to add. Great job!
Yep, some people will get the hang of it, while others like my brother will just be stuck on frustrating parts. Puzzle games are a hit or miss especially with the weird physics!
Yeah, certainly!
Cool game! It was a bit hard to control for me and lots of restarts ;)... Great entry in general tho. Good job!
Thanks for the feedback!
Really nice take on the theme, and really fun flinging myself around the levels! Really great job!
The game had charm when I could swing myself around. The colliders could have been a bit better, but overall good job.
💜
Yep! We spent a lot of the time adjusting levels and making them, colliders are definitely quite buggy, a fix for the future. Thanks for the feedback!
This is a lot of fun. I enjoyed flinging myself between the two sides. There was a problem I kept running into where If you push a box too close to a wall, you have to restart. But still, you did a Great Job.
Thanks for the feedback!
Gameplay: I really liked the puzzles, but the physics were a bit janky, and I feel like the boxes could use a bit more friction.
Visuals: Not great.
Audio: I didn't love the music it was kinda weird.
Theme: Nice take on the theme that led to interesting levels.
Overall: Could be polished a lot more but it's pretty fun!
Thanks for the feedback! Due to us being new to this kind of game, we decided a really simple aesthetic would make it a lot easier to adjust and create puzzles for the weird physics. For audio, it was a mix of classical music that we hoped would match the puzzle theme. Collision and more definitely could be more polished for future updated!
cant figure out the first level... How do you use the box? What do you use it for? How do i get past the poles (theyre on both sides, aren't they?)
For the first level, you push the box onto the pressure plate, and it opens the door. The game works with both sides, the top half being normal gravity, the bottom half being reversed gravity.
Reminded me of an old phone game. Nostalgic!
Nice art, awesome gravity mechanic!
If you want you can also rate our game. Hope you will enjoy it!
Thanks for the nice feedback, we'll be sure to check out your game too!
The gravity mechanic is very fun, reminds me of looping through portals in a good way. This is a cool twist on a platformer.
