What do you like about your game?
The pixel art renderer for sure :) The genetic ecosystem is also pretty cool, as you can notice how it sort of adapts to your playstyle

This was really cool! But unless I missed something, there isn't a way to exit the game without alt-tabbing out and closing it manually. Otherwise, this was awesome! Love the artstyle!

little bug guys move their legs procedurally :)

Such a great game! One of my favorite submissions of this game jam. I liked everything about this game, from music, SFX, and visuals, to gameplay and story. Amazing job! The fact that you could cut grass and the font that appeared directly inside of the level, with instructions and everything was purely genial.

Love the visual style and animations in Geometric Dreams, and the combat effects are top-notch! The movement felt a bit slow, possibly due to camera angles. The dynamic ecosystem idea is cool. Overall, a really impressive game.

really nice visual style and slick procedural animations! the combat feels great with those vfx and sfx. the movement felt a bit weird with how it seems like you’re moving really slowly up/down — this might be the result of the camera perspective/projection, I’m not sure, but it feels off to me. and while the dynamic ecosystem sounds like a neat idea, I didn’t really notice it affecting the gameplay much. cool game overall!

Played twice and got till 100% and I died then and there both times. Is this supposed to happen ?

Either way, cute little game lol. Loved the overall presentation and the designs of the creatures.

However, I kinda wish that the enemies behaved a little differently. They all looked different of course, but because they all acted the same, it felt like I was just fighting the same enemy 100 times.

I was also able to just stay in place most of the time since your melee attack covers all around you. It was only when things got really hectic around the 70-75% mark that I really had to move a bit since enemies also seemed to have a little more health as well.

But still, this was a pretty cool game overall. Nice job on this

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

You actually did beat the game twice, I just didn't have enough time left to make a proper end screen, so I repurposed the death tombstone and replaced the letters with "GG" haha

I agree on your point about the enemy behaviour. In theory there is an almost infinite number of possible enemies (even the smallest parameters such as step speed or number of leg joints can be mutated), but in practise the evolution mechanics are hardly noticable (except from basic color change to speed/health). That is one thing I'd like to further improve.

Also it was kinda difficult to balance, since the random mutations can go in any possible direction, and in the end I just didn't have time to do it. The game turned out way too easy imo, you can cheese basically every run by standing still, just like you said.

I love this animations!

The best use of pixel art in 3D that I've seen!

Thanks alot!

The pixel art renderer was definitely a worthy time investment. At first it was quite a bit of work to get it running, but then everything fell into place and creating new assets was literally a matter of minutes, since even the most basic assets and materials look good as pixel art :)

I love the cute aesthetic and use of procedural animation. My strategy was just to circle for a while so the mobs build up, and then throw a grenade into the middle. Then collect grenades and repeat.

Glad you liked it!

Also really cool to hear different strategies that evolved for this little jam game :)

It feels Realy polished. Good job.

Very cool game, I didn't really notice anything from the radiation thing except the enemies turning blue, but I enjoyed the combat enough to get to the end. Awesome submission!

Looks great! It was sadly hard to notice all the cool evolutionary things because I just kind of ran around  and swung my sword and then just threw bombs every ten seconds and that was the extent of my strategy. I did enjoy it though, great polish, awesome animations. Well done!
