i like the movement, its really smooth and fits the vibe of art and music, also eyes down are judgy, unique expirience

also others crows words about "a lot of potential" hit me with unexpected sad pill

I love this! the hand painted art makes the game feel really physical, and I love the way the story slowly unfolds with the level design, it really reminds me of Gris.

It might be nice if you could work out a way to make what's back/foreground and what is a platform a little clearer.

It would also be cool if you could figure out a way to make the text boxes match the art style more, they're probably the only part of the game I didn't love the look of and they broke the emersion a little bit for me

I tried to work out a way to fly with about 4 playthroughs but couldn't solve the game, I always ended up in the eyeball place... not sure if I made it to the only ending or I just kept getting the bad ending :'(

All in all I loved this experience and rated it highly!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Yeah you're designed to only loop through being unable to fly. It's somewhat of a sad game about expectation and being built differently.

Great climat! I loved what I saw after falling down. Very nice personification of dread you put there my friend, well done entry!

Wow, I don't really understand what's happening in the game, but I really like the graphical style!

Developer

That's understandable, the story and themes are delivered in a kinda expressionist way.

I love the watercolors, as everyone is saying it's a super unique feel. The story is a nice concise loop and the aesthetic supports the story!

One thought though if you continue with this aesthetic in a larger project, you may want to consider adding a vector outline around the sprites and platforms to help separate them from the background make them easier to see (especially for a platformer).

But man, great work, it's huge to sprite a game jam with traditional media!

As everyone else says the watercolor is so so cool!  Congrats on getting all this done, and the general vibe is quite cool too :)

i couldn;t figure out where to go though i kept getting lost and falling to my death.

Very beautiful game. Though the art style does lead to some clarity issues about what is foreground and background objects. Overall, a very good experience! Well done!

Developer

yeah that was a concern I realized most the way through. I think for future stuff of this style I'll be doing under painting/shader work to make the elements more distinct. Thank you for playing

I find the use of watercolor to make the sprites so beautiful! The atmosphere in the final scene is also very stylish, really a very cool game

Really cool art style! I particularly liked how it transitioned between different scenes to give a completely different vibe each time :)

I think I had never seen a game that looks like this before, be it in a jam or in general. More so, the art style combines with the dialog and gameplay to make a very cohesive experience. I like that you went for something more narrative than high-gameplay focused, and I think you did a good job.

The artwork for this is beautiful! I really liked the final section with all the eyes. The character is also so cute and expressive! I think if you expanded this you could create a really interesting story/platformer game. Great entry :)
