Very Good, one of those really nice quick gameplay loops that having you saying "one more" after every time you lose. The ball physics are the bane of my life tho as I somehow always ended up hitting it in a way where it would somehow end up on the button!
Congrats on the game and great job (even more congrats getting so close to the deadline before submitting xD)
Thanks for taking the time to play and I hope you enjoyed it.
Yeah i'm not 100% on what the issue is with the lag spikes on the first creation of the enemy hit effects, I am actually using preload and it's fine in a non web build of the game, so not sure if it's just web specific or not, will definitely spend some time trying to find the issue so I can avoid it in any future godot projects.
I enjoyed playing it, although I did find the spinning log type obstacles a little too brutal and I died a lot on that part so maybe you could put a few more checkpoints in, but overall it was a fun/challenging experience.
Great Job and Congrats on the game!
(Just copying over my feedback from LinkedIn)
Hey, I appreciate that you took the time to play my game and leave feedback.
I'll be honest this 'but as it stands this is just a wave-based shooter game and that's about it.' is sort of what I was aiming for, I didn't enter this jam for any reason other than for a bit of fun and as a chance to learn and make something in Godot, so my whole focus was to keep it as simple as possible and most importantly complete something, both of which I'm happy with regardless of the games eventual rating.
Pretty much all of the issues you had with the game are things I had thought about during the jam, but ultimately due to time limitations I had, these were features/improvements that I just didn't get a chance to address.
Really really good and very polished for a game jam, love the overall style and vibe of the game too, makes it a really chill vibe to play in. It also feels very satisfying when you solve the puzzle.
I think the learning curve might be a little too steep in this build, but I think this is mostly because of wanting to show off a variety of cubes in a smaller amount of levels perhaps, something that I don't think would be as much of a problem in a full game. I noticed one of the page comments mentioning trial and error maybe not being fun, I kinda disagree with this and I actually enjoyed the flow of maybe not fully understanding each of the cubes from the get go and instead just trying a few different placements of the cube to fully get it, the flow of the puzzle after pressing play is so short that I didn't mind doing it a multiple of times before I solved it.
A very strong base for a game here and would love to see where you could take it. Great job and congrats on the game!
Hi thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah the screen shake is something I've not really worked with before so I wasn't too sure on how much I should shake it, I think at the very least in the future I'll add an option to allow the player to choose, and that's a good tip for the bullet SFX I'll keep that in mind for the future.
I really enjoyed that, a great idea around the theme and the execution was very good, the clean art style in the game really added to the vibe as well. A vibe that was especially chill, which I very much enjoyed.
Couple notes, I think it would be ideal if you could use 'tab' to skip to the next cell in the excel, I didn't particularly enjoy having to switch over to the mouse each time after I filled in a cell. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but the music didn't appear to loop after a certain amount of time which left me in silence if I was taking too long to finish a job.
But overall great job and congrats on the game!
Very enjoyable game, love the idea and execution.
I did struggle a little with the gamepad controls but I think this mainly comes down to the UI showing a more general (north, east, south, west) button, rather than a gamepad specific one, but honestly I think this would be something that could be easily solved by having it detect which controller the player is using (and is something I wouldn't expect during a game jam anyways)
Great job though and congrats on the game.
I failed miserably (I got an F one level) :'), but I liked the overall style of the game.
The one note I did have, I felt like I was missing the updating messages on the bottom of the screen as I was so focused on the numbers, so not sure if they could stay up for longer perhaps? or maybe be placed higher in line with the numbers?
Great job tho, and congrats on completing the jam.
Thanks for playing!
This is something I noticed later on in development and implemented an auto weapon that can be equipped via the [2] key, however it is a different gun so it also offers a different experience and an autoshoot mechanic on the single shot weapon is actually a very good idea (and wouldn't be hard to implement) it was just something I didn't think of at the time! Will remember that for future Jams!
Thanks for playing!
Yeah I agree with the feedback, they were a few of the concerns I also had when the game was finished, I think the movement especially I was mainly testing on a controller so it felt fine and I didn't realize the keyboard issue until later on in the Jam where I simply just didn't have time to address it.
I do plan on taking this idea and fleshing it out a little bit more to make it a bit more polished, add a few more puzzles etc at some point, so I'll for sure be taking your feedback into account!
Nice Job, I enjoyed playing the game!
In terms of feedback I think I would echo what others have mentioned here, it can be a little hard in parts to know what is background and what isn't background and having the ability to aim the shots a bit more would be ideal!
Congrats for completing a game and the game jam!
I only had the chance to play the first area so can't give too much constructive feedback on the game as a whole, but did want to say I really like the art style and the general vibe of the game as a whole.
Like someone mentioned in the other comments this would work really well as a mobile game. Congrats on the game!
