I died before I could explore the ruins fully ;_; Without anyway to restore health I think I made a few bad decisions and ended up burning more HP than I should of on attacking.

First of all I love the hand drawn art style, it looks fantastic and stylish. I really like it. Good use of the theme as well. I liked that there was some strategy to the combat because you had to balance your resources and potential have enough to destroy a wall and fight a monster directly afterwards so you needed to use different attacks.

I was pulled in by the story setup and setting too.

Nice game!

I had an issue when keeping movement keys pressed, the game would pause while it finished playing sound effects.  So, I had to slowly take one turn at a time.

I liked the hand drawn art, it really stands out.  The enemies looked especially good.  Lighting was nice and moody.  The colour scheme was great.  Again, made it look very unique and the HUD was clear and stood out well.  Aesthetics were the highlight of your game.

The character UI goes off screen (I played it in fullscreen mode).  I did like how you laid out all of the commands on screen, so I  didn't need to confer with your game notes during play.

The voiced sound effects were a cool touch.  Though the above mentioned issue did detract a little from them.  Music would definitely have been a good addition.  Even some ambient sounds.

I couldn't find any health, armour, or weapons pick ups.  Even shooting a wall seems to cause injury (?), which is particularly unfair due to no health boosts or armour.  After death, you could respawn in the ship with progress intact, but with enemies respawned, instead of the game restarting from scratch.

A mini map or even a compass would have been very handy as some of these caves get quite expansive.

With a few touches, this game could be really good.

"You stare off into the dark Void of space ..."

The game was fun, I kind of like everything about it. The little bits of story are nice, the sad ending is appropriate, but sad ... but appropriate. I like that you can defeat the Voice. The wall textures look very good and you've got some different ones, environments are detailed in the context, enemies look cool and the sound effects are catchy, I like them. In practice movement and combat went as fast I pressed the buttons which is great and I like the short-term resource management used to stay alive up to the end, combat is definitely fun, especially as the difficulty is appropriate.

Looking for minor things to complain about then after defeating the worms using an Aimed shot and Wild shot I think I would have preferred if it was not enough to kill the further enemies as well. I guess a few consumables could enhance the game as well.

This is a very cool entry, thanks for sharing.

It took me a while to figure out how to get out of the spacecraft and start mining.

The combat is really tough, and I'm not sure you can avoid injury. And since there is no healing it becomes super hard to win. Graphics style I really like, keep doing this art please! Mechanics to play was a bit complex. Make it more simple and players wont get lost as easy. Not sure the R T G keys are all needed.

The 4 stats bars were also confusing, what do they mean and why am I using up all of them but not at the same speed. One enemy worm I kept spamming with attacks but I couldn't hurt it the slightest, might be missing something here.

Loved the graphics style - so well constructed and fitted with the 3d - excellent work.

I also loved the hand-made sound effects - everything worked well :)

I loved the drawn textures and the sound effects. It was very satisfying to smash walls. Very nice combat mechanics that require some decision making. I couldn't find a way to heal up so I died eventually but it was enjoyable. The UI needs a lot of work visually but it's all there and functional. Great job :)

This one had gorgeous art! The UI had a lot of room for polish but it didn’t impede the game play.

I really liked the combat system in this one and required me to make “smart” decisions. I love when a game makes me feel smart (even if the moves are obvious).

Great work!

Your video playthrough and feedback was great! Thanks so much for doing that. I was impressed at how you figured out the mechanics and beat the game on the first try.

It was confusing at the start, I died once, but then I get my grasp on how you need to position yourself to better fight enemies and how to utilize resources and it went absolutely fine.

I would love to see more variety in enemies in terms of their abilities, but other than that it was a super solid entry, it has a good crawling experience, art has its own charm, sounds are informative, destructible environment, enemies and a story :)

One thing to mention is that if I hold down movement button it’ll queue a lot of movement actions in a row and you’ll need to wait for it to complete them all until it becomes responsive again.

The hand drawn art style and grayscale was cool, the story seemed like it was going to be good but I would usually die after about 3-4 worms to see it through. I also accidentally killed the voice the first playthrough  not knowing I was supposed to talk to it.

I'm not sure if its bugged but my health never went up when waiting and I never seemed to find anything to restore health. When the enemies don't chase around corners (allowing you to get an attack or two before they hit you) and when skills take your health, this makes for a brutally difficult game. I'm not sure it's possible to complete. I'd love to play again with the difficulty tuned.

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback. I had a heal/repair functionality planned, but didn't have time for it. And didn't know how to implement it without spoiling the reveal that you are actually a robot (of sorts). This health is high enough to make the game beatable, but it probably requires two playthroughs -- which is bad design for a jam game.

The hand-drawn art style works really well on rectilinear walls, I think I'm gonna try this sometime...

Really liked this goofy art style and sound design, movement is also satisfying. But UI is a lackluster and i'm not sure you can complete this game with current balance

Developer

Thanks for the kind words. How would improve the UI?

It is possible to beat (by me at least), but maybe requires knowing the route with the least enemies. It you want help, press "m" and you can see the map which allows some looking around corners.

If it were also stylized in a similar style as the environment, it would already make it 10 times better.
Right now it looks more like a default templates for web UI :D

nice game, the fight system is nicely done but without health regen it's pretty hard. Also it lack some sounds and musics.

But overall very charming game!

10/10 would kill the voices again

Nice job! great presentation and atmosphere! dug the turn based combat

To start, I did not like the UI design, as it did nog work together with the very unique and cool graphic design. You got deep into the systems it seems. Quite a game you made there...cool stuff.

Very very charming. The little sounds where you walk works really well its kinda hypnotic. Love the graphics too. The UI was telling me something and I played one of your games last year too ! Is there a way to regain health? Kept being killed in 3rd level

Developer

Sorry, no way to gain health -- just didn't have time to implement something for that. My last game had healing on every wait, which had the complaint of being too easy. I may have swung too hard the other way.

The tip I can give is that you don't need to kill every monster, so stay out of dead ends on a second run-thru.

Ah yeah, they don't follow you after a corner, I will use that. Thanks for the tip.
