Short but fun game! The card battling was easy to learn and I like the variety in the enemy decks, as it adds a little flavor to who you're fighting :D I also think the dungeon looks pretty nice, but it doesn't feel like it has any purpose. The current goal is to seek out all the enemies and defeat them, but you start with a fully explored minimap that includes their locations. I think that this hurts the crawling aspect a bit, as there's no need to explore and there won't be any surprises.

The dungeon also has some nice special walls, which look like they have stuff written on them. Would be nice if that was interactable, telling a story or revealing some lore, stuff like that. I liked that the main character talks (thinks?), but at some point I just walked through it and ignored the text because it was mostly self-pity.

Movement could be a bit more snappy, right now if you press too early it won't register the action even if you're holding it. This was more noticeable for me when turning around.

The card game is simple but effective an the battles were fun :D Of course, there are a thousand ways you can expand upon this so I won't go into that. One thing I did notice, and that's something you may want to look into further, is the game balance of only having one non-offensive card active per turn. I can imagine only wanting to add offensive cards, to lower the odds of halving the effectiveness of your hand when you draw 3 (semi)defensive cards. On the other hand, I like that you can't stack defenses that way. But if you do decide to expand the card game, it's something to keep in mind I think.

Overall a pretty solid game :D

The card game was a blast! I enjoyed it a lot. The decisions were typically fairly simple, but it was still engaging. The dungeon exploration is sort of non-existent once you realize everything can be seen on the map (my own game had this problem too), but the movement felt good, and the gray dungeon looked fine.

Great entry! Generally I don't like card systems (maybe I should, there's alot out there) but this one was well done and  I actually enjoyed it. The movement and turning was all great. The dungeon was a bit bland and samey, so it could benefit from changing it up a bit.

I think if there was some expanding on the cards and fleshing it out a bit more it could be great. Like Captain Coder said - I'd be on the lookout for a full release! Overall a good crawler.

Thanks for playing it!

Agree that the dungeon is bland. Goal for next year jam: better code to generate a much better dungeon.

Excellent - Loved the combat - very nice and fluid. movement seems fine too.

Wasn't fussed by the music - sort of sounded a bit janky.

The dungeon itself could do with some light and sense of place. it just feels like the same ole thing. give it a bit of atmos and some unique places, maybe some traps. and it would ge great.

But kudos to the combat - This makes it - brilliant ! :)

Awesome entry! I want to play a full version of this card game. How do I get it? ;)

Thanks for playing it and streaming it! I really appreciate it.

Battle system was very intuitive and I get a grasp of it really quickly. More cards with side effects, like debuffs or HoT/DoT will add more depth though, I think.

Bug with angle rotation was… Disorienting :)

Developer

Thanks for playing it!

"Disoriented Death" could be a good name for next year game ;)

Enjoyed this, the exploration was straight forward enough, and the card game based combat was very simple to understand and get into. Nice work.

I liked this game so much. The card battle is relatively easy to pick up fast, but quite enjoyable. The general atmosphere and looks completes the game very well.

Great work!

Developer

Thank you!

The Solitude theme was well realized and the game has nice, smooth graphics and good music. The movement feels snappy and the card battle system is a nice idea. But I feel, that the battles drag on a bit to much, maybe tweak some damage values to reduce the needed number of turns, until something is dead.

Developer

Thanks! Sure the game needs more adjustments, probably lowering the healing cards.

This was pretty good! Played it before voting started and just remembered to come back and vote. The card game was pretty straightforward and easy to manage. Played the maze to the end. Liked that bit where the "origin story" and maze are generated on the fly. Good stuff!

I think the card system works well and is relatively easy to get the hang on. The game is mostly a card game with some existential thoughtful narrative.

The movement and dungeon part of it is well done, but is not really included in the story. You basically just navigate the hallways to find the combat.

Overall a pretty and nice game to play!

Thanks!

You have a point here. The original idea was to have three generated levels. The end of the game was initially planned to be at the gate of the dungeon, always closed to the cursed player character. But sadly I had to cut the scope to get the game ready on time.

I'm not sure, but  it could be a good post-jam project.

Nice game there. Very clean movement. The card mechanic is a bit confusing. Why do some cards stay, and some cards fly off ?!

Regardless, I crushed them all, so I leave happy ;)

Great job.

Thanks!

You're right, I should have added more hints in the card game (you have three cards in your hand, but you can only play two, the defense cards stay in the board as protection against the next attack of the opponent).

The theme of solitude is well presented. I like the UI of heroes and a mini card game. Well done.

This was fun. Movement and combat feel good enough and I like the recap at the end of the full story you got. Through the narrative, various stories and the way there're presented you can feel the endless solitude themes.
