What do you like about your game?
I liked coming up with new puzzles for the echo ability, and I'm happy with the art in the time I had.

At first it was difficult to figure it out, but then you start to enjoy the mechanics) Good job!

It is a very fun game, I wish I liked it more.
Unfortunately, I got stuck on one of the early segments. It seems like the game wanted me to to get triple height from one booster, but I only managed to do it once. Unfortunately, you have to start from the beginning of the room if you fail.

Fun, well executed game, but you can get stuck.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I definitely feel like the balance could be improved so if you fail a jump you don't have to start the whole room over again.

Interesting gameplay mechanics. Difficult to get used to it, but very novel. Low res/pixel graphics (it seems to me it is 320x180) is very well executed, with an awesome palette choice and nice little details that fill the scenery. :)

That's a great mechanic to play with. I loved it. I'm not a precision platformer god, but it was fun.

I like what u did here budd, nice game

I really like how you implemented the echo mechanic. I found that the early levels taught me alot about how the mechanic worked, making progression feel natural. The shader used for the echo effect is rather nice. The pace of introducing additional environment features was spot on too.

Choice of colour schemes is great. As simple as it is, the yellow background actually gives the game a very distinct and pleasent feel. This combined with the music really sells the aesthetic of the game for me.

For improvements, I did not like the keybind of Shift/Ctrl (although I found using Right CTRL ok). Maybe set it to [E] by default?

High quality and interesting platformer. Well done!

I like this concept a lot, the echoes are such an interesting mechanic to play around with, really unique way of thinking. Almost everything about this game feels like Celeste, both visually and musically to an extent, which I think is really cool. The game gives you just enough hand-holding with the first echo orb things before throwing you in the deep end, but it’s really satisfying once you’re able to get through. I found the game quite hard, but I’m also really bad at platformers; none the less I enjoyed playing it a lot. Nice work :).

Developer

Thank you for the feedback :D. Celeste was definitely an inspiration for various aspects, especially the tileset sizing.

Really great game mechanic and style. Small touch, but I really liked the particle dynamics too.

Took a while to get my head around the mechanic and how it worked, but the level design was excellent and had just the right amount of progression and difficulty.

Fantastic job - really enjoyable game!

Really cool game, loved everything about it. It took a moment until I got the Echo mechanic, but when I finally understood what was happening, I had a lot of fun playing through the game.

Great job!

this was super good! The art, music, and platforming were all excellent.
I think the main criticism was that the gimmick was really hard to get used to, but it sure made it interesting once you figured out how it worked

specifically, I'd assumed for a long time that I was controlling the echo somehow, not that it was "echoing" my movements. (It was literally in the name, though, so I'm not sure how I missed that...) Once I figured it out, it was still kind of difficult to use, but MAN it felt cool when you used it correctly.

So far this is easily in my top 2. Excellent work.

One of my favourites so far. The idea is cool, the puzzles are well done, the graphics, despite being simple, are beautiful and the game is very polished. I’ll be rooting for your game. 👏🏻

The only thing I would change is showing controls based on the player’s device, for example: if I’m using a keyboard, the UI will show inputs from the keyboard instead of the controller. I know you put it in the description (and that’s what saved my gameplay 😆), but it would be better if it appeared correctly in the game.

Maybe also add some feedback on the record echoes mechanic, one sound or effect to indicate when the recording started and ended, so I have an idea of what my echo is going to be like when I use it.

I like how fluent the experience is. It feels like you cared for the micro mechanics; I'd even say that the hitbox is not a pure square. Gravity relates jumps to the size of the level, so it looks you had a lot into account (which results in coherent puzzles that do not feel improvised).

I find the main echo mechanic quite interesting, it gives a lot of room for puzzles and that is shown in a very small space (so I'd say your game has propositional density).

If I had to improve something, I might have put the echo button to be used by the right side on the keyboard, so you don't just play with one hand... But that's a minor thing. Overall, it is a very polished experience in terms of look and feel!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and feedback. One thing I'll definitely look to add is key rebinding so the player can choose whatever they want.

you did the platformer controller super well it feels great, the gimmick is fun to play with. the difficulty balancing is better than most submissions i played, i was in the flow state the whole time. but i also backtracked where the paths crossed like an idiot 5/5

Developer

Thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback!

Very cool, I like the mechanic and that you come back to some of the earlier levels, but with a new ability to progress. Metroidvania style. The game quickly became too difficult for me though, which is not uncommon.

I love the art and how well the game suits the theme of the jam. I also appreciated the controller input - I switched to controller from keyboard after a little while. I played for about 10 minutes, but couldn't seem to figure out how to use the echo ability reliably. Is there a trick to aiming it?

Developer(+1)

So the echo records the player's motions then plays them back from the player's current location. Thanks for playing!

That's awesome! I like how my brain understood better and better how to use echo with each level, good job :)
