I managed to get the 6th highest score on the leaderboard! It's really easy to "one more" this one forever :D

The graphics, music, etc, work very well together and the only bug I encountered was an http error that booted me out of fullscreen (which might be out of your hands).

One area for improvement might be communication of how the final score is calculated in-game. I didn't read the description initially, and was very confused that after getting the fruit, my score was multiplied by a weird factor (+1000 then x2)

Overall, bravo! You sucked me in for a good 15 minutes  with this

This game is super addictive !
Great sounds and music - the higher pitch with repeated jumps is a nice touch :)
Nice graphics and level design too, it's a bit tricky for me to cash in on a really big bonus, but all part of the fun - I keep going back for more !

I played a few times to try to get onto the leaderboard, but no luck.   This was fun.  Nice work!

Looks neat and it plays pretty nice as well. Very impressive that there is an online leaderboard. For some reason the game is silent for me, but that could just be something with the engine not playing nice with my browser.

At first I mistakenly thought that the point of the game was to press shift to teleport between worlds, in order to get a higher score. It took an embarrasingly long time until I figured out that I was actually just restarting the game over and over, but as a consequence of that I did manage to see a lot of different levels, which was nice (:

ha! well, apparently there’s a game within the game so congrats on unlocking it and sharing :)

Fun game! I scored 19400, but I see people could score more than 20000, how dare they XD

Loved the controls, while a little less floatiness would be beneficial, but not much! A floaty character is appropriate for the game. Very well polished, and nice art!

Another suggestion, consider changing the color of the first text. It is hard to read write on a clear background ;)

Developer(+1)

glad to have you on the board and thanks for checking it out. 20k+ happens when RNGesus allows. they appreciate spending time with you so honor them with your presence and they will grant your wish ;)

I am trying to play all the games in the jam today so I couldn't play long. After one try I saved it and moved on because I knew I would want to come back to this one. I loved the feel of it and I want to unlock that chest. Reminds me of Kirby.

The text at the beginning was very hard for me to read with the white clouds in the background.

Developer(+1)

yah, i struggled with the text in this and it’ll be a focus in “the next” along with the rest of the feedback received. meanwhile, The Summoner awaits and looks forward to seeing you soar!

The itch page is so beautiful I wanted to keep looking at it also having a leaderboard is very cool and the controls are good, the only thing is thats a bit hard for me to read the white text in the sky background. Great job.

Developer(+1)

thanks for checking out LoS, and for your appreciation for the page :) i tried a new “look” for this one and i’ve become fond of it, as well. the text is a disappointment for me but after trying this 2nd font (which i think was a slight improvement from the first), i wanted to move on to other elements. i also play on a 55” screen so i shoulda listened closer when others offered similar feedback early on. lesson learned :)

Really nice! Fun/challenging mechanics, nice animations, several environments, and a leader board. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

thank you and i’m glad you enjoyed. sometimes when i test a game i get tired of playing it. i musta “tested” this 1,000 times (literally) and i keep coming back which is a good sign. the leaderboard is a big part of the return for me and i think most appreciate it, too. mostly, i want someone(s) to knock me down a few pegs, there :) only R has come close (she’ll get me (again) some day and i’ll like it). come join us, won’t you? i want a MOO on the board :)

I wouldn't have known about the ability to jump multiple times if it wasn't from reading the comments on this post, but that's honestly the only thing even remotely negative I have to say about this game because the rest of it is brilliant! Some of the best game feel I've seen in a jam, this game just feels so satisfying to play and there's a very solid variety of level designs. An overall fantastic job!

Developer(+1)

sorry about that; i tried to get the Overpowered part early via the comment just not IN the game itself ;) and, thanks for the kind words. i’m pretty happy with #MyFirstPlatformer and glad you liked it, too. the 20” jams are inviting for me to try something new which is just one of many reasons i dig them. thanks again!

Yea this is really impressive for your first platformer keep up the great work!

Best score 16,190! The visuals and audio are pretty nice. I like the sound effect being different for each extra jump. Gameplay itself is fun.

I haven't read instructions at the start, so it took me a few rounds to realise I can jump more than once.

It often took me a second to spot the player avatar on the screen. Since the collectibles are animated, the portal did not stand out much (also since the portal did not stay visible for long). I would recommend adding some visual effect near the player at start of each round/ or keep the portal effect a little longer and more visible/standing out better in presence of all the collectibles.

Also you may want to add WAD as input along with arrow keys.

Overall a fun game and I look forward to seeing what you create next!

Developer(+1)

i’m bad about reading instructions later than sooner, too. it’s like a pre-game puzzle to play but, yeah, the wee Wonder has springs.

and, as you’re not the only one to comment about the surprise arrival, i’ll try to do better next time. i did want it to be jarring as i expect teleporting might be but i suppose we don’t have to travel with our eyes closed :)

WASD is now in the game, btw. so if that’s what you need to take PP to the top, come get me!

thanks for the feedback, and for playing :)

Awesome. Thanks!

I tried controller too. Kinda felt better than kb. PP score went a little up by around a hundred points. However, I have no idea how anyone is getting over 20k score!

This is such a fun game, I keep finding myself coming back again and again to beat my previous score. The art on it is also very nice, reminds me of old school games. Great work.

Developer(+1)

thank you. glad to have you on the board, R :)

thanks for checking out #MyFirstPlatformer which was a lot of fun to work on where the 20” Jams serve the right amount of challenge for me as i generally try out a new mechanic, learn a bit, and cast some creative energy into the multiverse while attempting to bring some of us together and a helping of FUN to the tiniest of tables that the jams represent for me.

with that, i believe i brought all 3 optional themes into LOS:

  • Overpowered in the nearly-unheard-of Quadruple jump!
  • the Strange Summoner who conjures Song while having no ears to appreciate it
  • the juciest Fruit as the essential ingredient in Music’s recipe (this is a loose metaphor for enjoying Life, you see :) )

and, of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without the appropriate 20” Sigil hanging from the Tower of Song:

please do as Legends do and give it a run. and, if you find FUN inside, please Rate it to help share it with others :)
