I made a video of your game. It's at the 5:44 mark of this video. Hope you don't mind the custom music I added in it.

Interesting concept. Felt like a choose your own adventure book. Nice work!
Lovely little text based CYOA game. I died. Tried again :). Damn berries! hah
Fun lil text adventure. I died in two clicks :D There are a few little variables that seem to be a tad bugged: I managed to find the flashlight (picking flowers) after I had already found the flashlight (digging). I only could use the book to identify berries once :( Overall this is a fun nostalgia romp with charming art and inspired story. Some BGM and sound effects would go a long way here. Nice work!
Gave me nostalgia for those old CYOA books especially with the art, well done!
A text based, hand drawn game! Very unique. This is the first time since I was... what, 12, 13 years old that I played an HTML/CSS based game? Haha. I dig it! The artwork is charming, and I liked the mechanic where you don't get a second choice at the berry bushes, like that when you go back the berries aren't available to pick. I ended up playing very cautiously, but ended up dying at the headless horseman. Still, a great little experience!
Nice setting, engaging story, loved the addition of graphics. Good job.
I was not expecting to find a choose your path game on here. Really nice job, i loved this genre when i was a kid!
I like the art style and how you must decide carefully on what to do next, or else you take damage or die.
I'm always happy to see someone's first jam submission- I mean, I was there less than a year ago.
Let's talk about your game. I think you already realize that the story is your strongest quality. It was engaging, although I didn't feel a consistent theme, more like a bunch of scary mysterious things happening in a spooky forest. That's not a bad thing- the game "betrayal in the house on the hill" is just that, and I love it :)
Art was cool- it was nice you kept black-and-white palette using color just to add emphasis on some stuff. It would be cool if there was more variety- like if the text tells me "you approach the lake" there would be a appropriate picture in the background, but I realize that this takes way more work. What could be an easy win, is adding just a bit of movement to fight scenes. Like some up-and-down movement, nothing fancy (of course the animations would go even harder).
Adding some sounds would help too. I often use freesound.com for my sound needs (if you use it remember to credit sound authors).
Over all- congrats on your first jam game!
Very nice game, that font style was a good choice and coloring the font to show important information is always a plus in a game like this, very good submission.
Like the other comments suggested, audio would've been a boon.
My only other (incredibly small) gripe is I got the book to identify berries, but it doesn't work on bushes you've already passed.
The game is a pretty good visual novel, fitting for a first game jam game. Congratulations! Would be nice if you added some background noise if you want some feedback.
A good game with a good narrative. Would have been nice if there were some sound effects though
