This is really interesting! I wish there was a way to fight against asteroids that move slowly close to the bottom of the screen, maybe make it so that when the player boosts it also gives them some speed upwards.
Amazing entry!

Definitely a cool concept! I almost wish the good engine was more visible, I kept thinking the blown engine was the good one every once in a while, but great job!
I like it. Normally after playing a game jam game, I find myself wanting to see more interesting mechanics, more varied threats, but with the intentionally janky controls, there is enough of an interesting challenge as it is. This game doesn't seem particularly ambitious, but within those confines, of being a low-graphics asteroid it seems honed to perfection.
Overall, the game is very thought-provoking in terms of how janky controls can change gameplay, and that's exactly what a game jam game should be.
If you ever want to update this game, I would suggest doing a screen wrap like asteroids, and also removing the friction completely because physics.
Didn't take long to get used to the controls and it plays well.
Though... panicking when an asteroid is hurtling towards you throws that out the window ^^;
