Creative concept! Love the way the jam's theme allowed the creation of games just like this one!

Would love to have some sound feedback, but it was still super enjoyable!

Good job!

Developer

Thank you! I agree. If not for the jam, so many cool games would have not been made.
I don't think I would have taken time to make something this wacky without proper event like this one.

The game presents a unique and polished concept that I reallyenjoyed. The style and visuals are great, although the absence of sound was a minor drawback. Overall, it was a fun and creative experience.

I would have never imagined creating artwork resembling a kaleidoscope with cows. Good job!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it

The weirdest game, but very well done

Loved the concept! Really well polished game! Loved the style and visuals of it!

Creative, comedic (in a dark sort of way), short and sweet!

I really love this, such a unique and creative idea and was really fun to solve all the different orders. No real complaints other than the lack of sound but I know how it is not being able to get to that haha. Very nice job.

This is so original, took me a while to grasp the concept and the interpretation of the theme, but it all made sense :) Could have used a cheesy soundtrack, but I definitely love the execution as is, great puzzle vibes, well done !

Superb concept! I'm so curious about the technical side, I can imagine how you do the counting but how do you do the cut?

Developer (1 edit)

The cut turned out to be the easiest bit really. (The game is made in unity so I'll use its terminology, but I assume it  can be recreated elsewhere) Basically there is a second camera that renders the cow to a render texture. The camera does not see below water level so the resulting capture cuts off everything below automatically. Then I flip this texture and project it to a sprite underwater. That's my reflection. When I merge the cow I combine the original capture with its reflection. you can even see a seam right where the sprites are touching.
Thanks for the feedback!

I just did an interview on the ideas behind Cow-Bending courtesy of BluishGreenProductions:
It’s the first interview on any game I’ve done, so this feels like such a major career milestone.
Thank you all for the support!

Very very strange game. Interesting concept

Haha, didn't even think about the scientist can be mutated, too! Cool concept and I like it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad you had a good time! I'm really proud of that scientist plot twist

Crazy idea, haha, it was fun to play :)

Great idea accompanied by simple art and polished UI. The difficulty curve is nice, and liked the twists in the gamepley.

Sometimes the body-part counter was not perfect, like here I only see 8 legs (I’m not a cow expert though)

Developer(+1)

The body part detection is little iffy at times, but that was really one of the hardest part to get to the satisfying level. As for your particular case, I believe its that that little black pixel remaining of a hoof that is counted as extra leg. Like I said, it's not ideal, but it gets the job done. I'm glad you had a great time! Thank you for you feedback

Submitted(+1)

Oooh, yeah, that must be it. I see why is it the hardest part, and you’re right, it get the job done.

So funny game. Great

One of the best games I've played this jam (and I've played a lot) - fantastic work!

Developer

Music to my ears! Thank you very much =)

This is absolutely fantastic! What a neat puzzle game and I found myself playing far longer than I expected. The art is slick and compliments it well. The only thing I would suggest is letting people full screen it. Without fullscreen, I found that only the mouse controls worked and that A/D and spacebar would not. Using Firefox so it could be the browser on that. Very minor issue though and the mouse controls are very fluid so it wasn't really a problem. Awesome game, really well done!

Developer(+1)

You're right Fullscreen would be  an important addition.
I did have it in earlier builds? but I turned the option off because there were to me some last-minute problems with UI alignment and scaling when resizing the window.
Not sure why key controls do not work though. I'll look into it.
Thank you for you feedback and kind words!

Definitely understandable to have cut it then! We ended up cutting the WebGL version entirely for our game because of issues we had with it too which, hindsight 20/20, wish we had put a little more time into making it work haha. Better to have one without fullscreen than no WebGL version at all. The key controls is probably something to do with my browser choice more than on your end, my system is starting to get a bit aged too so I'm definitely inclined to think the issues are more my fault than anyone else's.

I saw it first on stream, then I played it and made some absolute monstrosities.

The game is super creative and ,without getting into spoilers, I love the twist in some levels.

The idea is so simple yet so clever, it has so much potential to go further even to add another dimension some time in the future. The game is super clean visually and I really liked the simplistic and humoristic style. There were some issues, of course the lack of sounds hurts the otherwise great game but that is mostly all. I don't think I can add anything that wasn't said before, so I will just say great work.

I know that I will now sound like a paid actor but anyway...

Apart from the gameplay itself, the game is truly inspirational for me and the interview you gave on bluishgreenproductions also gave me some great ideas on how to improve my jamming for the future. So simply thanks!

Really solid idea and well executed. Not sure how it fits the theme but who cares really.

Absolute banger submission! Really creative idea and an hilarious take on the theme.
