I really couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do :(. The sprite work is great!

As an arcade game it is fun! Also the pixel art assets are very well done. Anyway, to make the game more dynamic you should lower the cooldown of the attack or eliminate it directly, because it makes that you can never eliminate all the barrels no matter how well you play. But good job anyway!

Would love to see this concept with a bit more time and polish.

Yea, we had to cut scope several times during the jam, but we are working on doing a version with out original scope for the postjam

The game needs an attack animation, most of the time I had no idea if I hit something. Looks very nice

I'll admit that I didn't understand the mechanics. Were you supposed to intercept the rocks or guide the king away? It wasn't clear and I don't know what the "ability" did.

Decent game!

Cool idea. Nice game. Took me some time to understand. Also would have liked to have a longer dash and some more tools to control the flow of the game.

The art is pretty cool. I also like the idea of playing as death but protect people.

It was hard to understand whether I was attacking at all since there was no attack animation. A simple slashing animation and some juice would greatly improve the game. I would also decrease the attack cooldown. 1.8 people die every second(or so google tells me) and this version of the grim reaper seems a bit out of shape.

I like the idea for this. I think it would have been improved a lot if there was a slashing animation, as right now it's hard to tell what you're doing and what your reach is. Also, having the cooldowns in the corner makes it harder to keep track of them. Having them closer to the character would probably be better. The cooldowns could also probably be shorter, as the way they are right now feels rather long. Otherwise, I really liked it.

Really stunning game! Great spin on the theme of the jam

Good Job on your first game jam! i agree with the others that there could be more feedback, especially having sound effects.  love the art!

Pretty cool idea! I like the spin of death being a protector as the kings time has not yet come and the art looks nice too. It would have helped if there was a bit more feedback on the dash and the attack though - maybe an animation, sound effects or particle effects would have been good so that you can feel the impact of your actions more. I also felt like the cooldown of the attack was a bit long and especially if the barrels get faster and faster I often came into a situation where I needed to use my attack to protect the king but then could only stand by and watch as he was hit by another one.
Overall you did a great job though! Well done :)
