Played on stream! See the video for timestamp.

Developer

ooh, thanks for sharing!

Lol wow great idea! I think this is my favorite take on the reverse snake genre because its more like a horror game! Audio was fantastic, from the eggs singing to the snak eating some snacks, all great. Nice to see a 3D version.

Only complaint is the mouse sensitivity seems really high. Like the first time the game started I thought it was a cutscene of my egg being scared! But it was really just slight movements of my mouse lol.

Overall though really cool game! Great work on this!!

Developer

glad you enjoyed it! a whole bunch of the egg voices are us and we had so much fun tweaking and pitching and whatnot to get all the eggy horror.

definitely eager to get in there and fix the mouselook.

holy god what have you done

Developer

ehehehehe

I like how you just go straight into the horror right from the cheery title screen. Using horror to make the snake-egg twist more unique was a good move. The mouse was still very sensitive on low sensitivity, but other than that, a great and spooky game!

Developer

thanks so much for playing! glad you (mostly) enjoyed it! we're definitely eager to get in there and fix the mouselook.

Really nice job, wasn't expecting to get dropped in like that, great subversion and great use of theme. Though the overall concept is probably pretty common, your execution of it is unique and you crafted it well to deliver something that was really quickly engaging and exciting. Polish up delivery in UI, add more content, tighten the controls and keep up the great work!

Developer

Thanks for the thoughtful comments! Would love to put more time into this lil abomination

Well this was amazing. I didn't see the screenshot, so I was caught totally off guard. So worth it :D

Developer(+1)

ahahahaha excellent, glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+2)

So scary... I dont know why I even try it >.<

Developer

thank you for playing regardless! It was our first horror game, so we were experimenting with a lot of things.

Actually, this game scared the living daylights out of me... I opened the game, thinking it was some cute pixel game, but after clicking "Play", I found it to be extremely dark and eerie. Because the mouse scroll speed was too fast, I couldn't figure out who I was or where I was for a moment, then suddenly, the screen lit up with a giant face. I nearly smashed my computer. But, all things considered, this is indeed an excellent game! Well done.

Developer(+2)

thanks for playing!~

we def want to fix the mouse sensitivity issue when we can patch the game again

Submitted(+2)

Utterly horrifying. I hate it. Thank you.

Developer(+1)

hahaha thanks for playing!

Developer(+1)

This was my constant reaction while making this abomination, and I'm glad it came across in play :)

Very spooky snek. What does the cup symbol in the top left represent? I assumed it would count victories but it didn't go up when i won.

Developer(+1)

It's a high score display that shows your best playthrough! Or at least, it used to be, and it will be again once I get in there after the jam and fix it lol

AMAZING  i Loved it so much great job

Developer

thank you! we had a lot of fun making it 🐍

Submitted(+2)

Nice game!

Good presentation and overall creepiness. I like the concept.

The only issues are that the game is way too hard when you don't know about the jump, and the jump itself doesn't feel really good. Also it's very short.

But beside that it was really fun to play and had a nice vibe. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comment and balanced feedback! Yeah this was our first jam for most of the team and we were definitely in the mindset of "panic" rather than "finesse" by the end of it 😅  Hoping to give it some love on the fine tuning when voting is done, especially on that jump!

Submitted(+3)

Loved this game! The art is really nice and it's a neat twist on the classic snake formula, with an unfortunate outcome for the poor lil' guys who had to be knocked over along the way. The gameplay is really nice and smooth, and it was genuinely tense at times. As someone who doesn't do well with 'scary' atmospheres this one genuinely creeped me out a few times, and I think you did a great job on that aspect as well! Overall a really great addition to the jam, you took the theme of 'Roles Reversed' and made something great with it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for your detailed review. It feels great to hear that folks are finding our game is actually genuinely creepy!

Submitted(+2)

This is crazy good! Super scary to be honest I can barely play it T-T

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It was the first foray into horror for a lot of us so it's nice to hear we hit the mark.

Submitted(+2)

fantastic sound design and incredible atmosphere! the snake itself doesnt like jump scare but just seeing it move towards the camera makes my hair stand up.

I also love the little egg people things

Developer(+3)

we were all so excited to add our voices to the egg friends and be fed to the snake

Submitted(+2)

I almost feel ashamed for so callously abandoning my fellow egg friends. I think I managed to be the last one alive since the snake ate 10 of the others. The use of sound does a very good job of instilling horror.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked the sound! Did you get far enough to hear the snake's wretched singing? :p

Submitted(+1)

Very creative!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, yours too! Loved the surprise horror shift when the shark came in

Submitted(+1)

Great Game! The idea and the visuals combined created a very fitting horror atmosphere further highlighting the inevitability of being consumed by Snak. Good job!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Getting the screenshots for this game while having to stare down SNAK was absolutely a horrifying experience, Though it is possible to win if you're quick and clever!

Developer

Thank you! Nicely done on your too, I really liked your push/pull controls. It'll be neat to see where you go in the post-jam update!

The Sensitivity is way to high even when setting my mouse to the lowest preset. Cool visuals and idea but I personally found it a little boring

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Thank you for your feedback. I hope you found the mouse sensitivity slider we put in the options menu! We put the slider in because we know mouse sensitivity is a something people have strong feelings about in first person games. We found that the range the slider provides was enough to tweak the sensitivity to all 5 of the dev's personal tastes, but maybe we didn't give it quite a big enough range to suit folks who prefer sensitivity on the lower end (or have particularly sensitive mice). Sorry the mouse sensitivity didn't work out for you. We appreciate you taking the time to check our game out!

Hey yeah i found the sensitivity slider after reading your answer and I still find it too high. Also yeah the settings menu is hard to find because of the button's color.

Not only that but when I minimize the window and open it again the mouse is gone meaning I can't access the settings anymore.

You might wanna use the Application.focusChanged delegate to detect changes in the focus and do Cursor.visible = true and Cursor.lockMode = None or just spam it in the fixedupdate :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for catching that bug. That's the sort of thing we'd probably test for more if it weren't a 48 hour game jam.

Submitted(+2)

Ab-so-lu-tely terrifying! I love it :D

Developer(+1)

glad you enjoyed it!
