The bouncing mechanic was hard to engage with intentionally as the bullets were a bit hard to catch while dodging, but not in such a way as to ruin the fun. the simple presentation was effective and clear and the music and sounds worked well. good work.

Cool idea to have your past bullets stay as active projectiles against enemies! Retro feel and the controls feel good to play

Thanks for playing!

Simple and sweet, this one is sure a lot of fun. The visuals also works really well despite the simplicity. Love all the bouncing chaos too.

I'd say the player controls are a little too slippery, but that would mostly be skill issue on my part honestly. I wish my own bullets were a little slower tho, they are already super unpredictable with all the bounciness and stuff, so it would have been nice if they had some sort of deacceleration. Either that or you could make them have a bigger hitbox than the enemy ones too, I know this is basically asking to make the game rigged in favor of the player, but tbh that's exactly how you get good game feel x)
Would be nice if the enemies had a better telegraphing of where they will spawn before they do as well, or at least not making the shield fully break when touching one, because it happened more than once of an enemy spawning below me and I losing my entire shield suddenly.
Something a little more technical too is that the game's resolution was too big for my laptop, I couldn't actually see the bottom of the arena, but it was little enought that it was survivable, altought I did get sniped from an enemy that appeared there or an offscreen bullet bouncing up sometimes.

Anyway I kept playing until I got top 10, and I guess I'm happy with 8th tbh

Oh wait I'm dumb, f11 exists

Thanks so much for all the great feedback! I definitely intend to address the player controls and the enemy spawning in a future update. I'll also try iterating on the bullet speeds to see if I could get a better balance. Look for an update in the next week or two. And thanks so much for playing!

Simple and fun! I like the link between your bullets and your  shield, it forces you to think twice before shot. The leaderboard is also a great addition. Good job! :)

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

This game is the perfect arcade addictive experience, I love it! This is the perfect execution of a simple idea that quickly scalates into tons of chaos and fun. You’ve done an amazing job, I really can’t express how much I enjoy your game and I could write an essay about the balance between the mechanics, really great stuff. Btw, if you use a very long name in the leaderboard, it stops showing the names that are below and in the same column, so maybe limiting the char ammount would be a nice idea :D (I’m really sorry for breaking it, I tried to fix it but ended up screwing it more to the point where I was considering getting the 20 best scores to cover it, but realised I would need a lot of ip changing so I’m just sorry, hope you can forgive me, I love your game very much)

Developer(+1)

Haha, don't worry about it! If you are okay with it, I can delete your score from the backend, and you can try again? But if you don't want the score to be deleted, I can fix the UX after the jam is done. I'm just glad you uncovered the bug! And thanks so much for playing!

It’s cool, you can remove the scores, I want to get over 7k anyway ^^

Developer

Okay, I removed the buggy score, and I see you got an even higher one. Nice work!

Nice theme integration, I really enjoyed that the bullets are bouncing by default, it's already satisfying while the game didn't even start haha
I liked that it's fast pace, you really have to be steady and keep your accuracy, prediction and movement if you want to achieve a good score.
A thing I wasn't doing at first, is rushing enemies at their spawn time to be more accurate and prevent them to flood the screen too much. Holding this strategy for a while is kinda difficult though, you're getting overwhelmed anyway at some point haha
Some enemy spawns were a bit unfair (when spawning on the player), draining the shield entirely in a sec, but it's the kind of expected bug for a jam, quickly fixable!

edit: also like someone mentioned, the player is a bit fast, but that's not the issue imo, I mean maybe, but to me it was more about the velocity on top of that, we can get use to a certain speed if the player stops on key release probably haha

Very cool game, loved it :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I hope to work on both the player's control, and collisions with the enemies in a future update. Maybe I can also add some logic to ensure enemies won't spawn directly near the player as well. I am glad you enjoyed it!

A really fun experience! The bouncing bullets is an amazing idea and very entertaining, I must admit that I've been a while trying to improve my score, it's very engaging! Wonderful job!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you so much! I am really glad the scores and leaderboard are encouraging continued plays and competition.

cool idea simple mechanics but the player is too fast to control

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing ! I definitely plan to refine the player movement in the future.

Simple mechanics and very easy to pick up!

How cool is this mechanic? Bullets bounce so you can catch them and reload? absolutely love it. Really adictive game, pleasant to look at, maybe the hexagons make things way harder, but it's okay. Just have to say that the player hitbox is too big, I'd say you used the same size as the player sprite right? Maybe you could make it a little bit smaller than the sprite, so you don't get unfair hits

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! I will work on adjusting the hitboxes, and I definitely think I will tone the hexagons down a bit. I am glad you enjoyed it!

It's simplistic but in a good way. The bouncing off walls added a layer of challenge in additional to dodging bullets ahead of you. Controls are tight and floaty(which I didn't think I would put two together). Well done.

Thanks so much for playing!

Some really cool mechanics !

The fact that both the player and the enemies have bouncy shots makes for quite some chaotic sessions at times and that’s the real fun of it, plus a nice use of the theme where you need to retrieve your shots to shootback and also recharge your sheilds.

One nitpick i had is that the player movement is a bit too fast and a littl floaty, which makes it a bit hard to navigate precisely if the screen gets crowded.

Other than that i had a blast trying this one out, good job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I have definitely gotten a lot of feedback about the player movement, so I do plan to iterate on that after the jam. I am glad you enjoyed it!
