Pretty good idea! but i think some texts somewhat ruined the immersion. Great game! :)

How does your game fit the theme?
Not only is the game filled with "new endings and new beginnings," it also pays tribute to windows 95 retro games and new exiting irl life for a little dog named Molly.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. Used free assets from unity asset store and pictures of windows 95 desktop. Origin Music is non-copyrighted and were modified by ourselves.

Was more impressive than I expected and it followed the theme well, good job.
This is a pretty cool concept. I always like these "there is no game" type games. The puzzles are clever, but sometimes can feel a bit unfair. There were a couple times I had no idea what to do. But that could just be me. Overall, a cool game though.
Also, here's a tutorial to fix the blurry sprite issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3kq7gx0kzc
Nice submission! Some feedback:
1) The graphics are a bit inconsistent. The game starts in 95 and is expected to be progressed into XP or smth but the blue screen is from win 10, I think? Also I would love to see some interface elements incorporated into platformer part.
2) The music was a bit too loud at the end, makes the player more annoyed than invested.
The game idea is very unique; the game play was a bit confusing, but I guess it's part of the game challenge, maybe you can improve on it and add hints or directions on what to do, like the game "There is no game."
Great job for your first game.
The ideas were very creative, I really liked the beginning
The soundtrack was annoying at the end, but I really liked
Awesome Graphics!!!
If you want, please check my game too!!
Wow I really love your game!! Graphics and sounds are so good.
Control with mouse pointer makes me little confuse, but it's very interesting mechanics! I think the game would be better if game has little guide.
and also I'm fall in love with Molly. Story was so great! Molly! I'll save yoooou!!!*breaking Windows*
The idea makes this game very unique, I'm impressed that a first JAM could turn out like this !
Of course as you mentioned it's not perfect but in the end what really matters is the idea of your game, what will make your team grow is experience on other projects. As long as you keep on being this creative, all that's left is finding a nice workflow and find time to polish mechanics.
Here's a few things you guys could do before participating to a new JAM or creating a new project (I'll be talking about platformers but you can extend it to other genres):
- Play a bunch of other platformers and figure out what works, what made it frustrating sometimes but more importantly what felt good, what made you stick around (++ Game design)
- Go check out a bunch of videos of the GDC, that's a very famous source of data and expertise, they have a great youtube channel (every skills)
- Try looking into game architecture and software architectures, it will help you build modular games, which will help in making bigger games no matter the time constraints (++ programming)
Great job with your first game jam! Idea is quite unique and I like it! However, music hurts my ears in the glitching parts. Also, it is not quite obvious that player can control with the mouse, it would be nice to leave some kind of hint for that in game itself (I figure this out only after reading the description of the game).
That soundtrack change triggered a fight or flight. Well done, loved the experience! Fun control changes and surreal gameplay!
Very fun platformer with unique levels and great storytelling through the old computer, really enjoyed going through this!
Fun platformer which presents disorienting level designs. Each level is unique in terms of its atmosphere and game controls. There are times wherein keyboard is the only thing usable while others must use the mouse as well. The details are there in regards to advancing through levels, even if they are subtle.
It followed the theme very well in means of its dynamics and execution of its objectives.
