You know this game actually brought back some childhood memories for me. I don't know if you've played those kinds of games but basically it's 1v1 with each player acting simultaneously. You can choose to put up shield, charge up, or a normal attack and we presented these moves with various hand signs. Then there's a hierarchy for which attack beats which and so forth. We had Dragonball Z themed, scifi themed and military themed versions of the game and we played them during recess all the time.
This game felt almost exactly like that, so thanks for bringing back such a blast from the past for me! I gave your game a very good rating!

Did you work in a team?
Just myself. I had a lot of fun making the different parts.
Was the resolution a challenge?
I tried to achieve smooth looking animations with very small sprites. I used some animation techniques to help with readability to varying degrees of success.
What did you learn?
I continue to struggle with scope when it comes to game jam projects. This jam has definitely helped me gauge what I can produce in a 2 week window.

amazing animations and visuals. felt a nice connection with the samurai specifically. waiting patiently for Rosham 2.
Impressive animations! I liked how each character has its own stage as well. I'm not very experienced with fighting games but managed to beat all 4 characters using mostly the heavy attack and special move. I almost lost against the cowboy since he attacks so fast. I'm not sure when I was supposed to use the light attack and grab, maybe a more difficult AI that forces you to use these would have been nice. The game was very fun to beat, well done!
Those animations are sooo smooth, and it conveys so much personality to the fighters too. The game is very fun, and the movesets are just the right amount to make it interesting. Very well executed game!
Well done across the board, the music is well done and character movements and environments are great. The AI felt very difficult but not impossible, never felt like I could truly cheese the gameplay in any way. Great work.
Wow, I really loved the simplicity of the animation for the different characters. I think the all black design really worked well and the motion was great despite the pixel limitations.
This is so goood! \o/ the animations, the background art, the music, the move sets the AI is so good and with multiplayer <3 <3 perfect 5/5 ^^
Great lowrez character animations and a very accomplished game. Special mention for the music because I feel like I went back in time and I'm standing in an arcade in 1984. Hot stuff!
Great game, two issues i found is that it doesnt detect the stick of my controller (it detects everything else find) and i think the projectiles are too strong, you dont have tools to close distance and there is no air movment so i would made it more expensive to use them like the cast time or if you coudnt do anything after using them for one more second.
Loved the minimalist sprites and how they were still able to convey movement very well.
Not sure if I would have preferred two characters with more fighting depth, or the current four. It’s a ton of work to create 4 unique characters like you did. Mad props :-)
Real nice game! I really liked the animations, they are pretty good :D I like the idea of a hp points in a fight game, it creates even more tension in the fight because you know exactly how many attacks you have to hit before defeat the enemy.
Alright, we've made a tier list, in typical fighting game fashion.
In a fighting game where you can't jump, the meta is defined by projectiles.
S tier:
CowBoy- He's got a gun and a boot. Beats all projectile spam.
A tier:
The Lady- She got a pretty fast projectile, can be overwhelming
Samurai- With the only anti projectile tool in the game, he's pretty solid if you have the reaction time. (Reacting to bullets is pretty hard though, so he's no higher on the list)
B tier:
Shoto- Walking forward behind 3 fireballs is pretty nutty, but the slow startup makes him lose the neutral spam often.
Very solid fighting game! I'm horrible at these kinds of games so I can't give a ton of feed back on the gameplay, but the animations and backgrounds look phenomenal. The characters are simple, yet it's easy to tell what sort of character they are. The music and audio were great as well. Noticed no issues at all that came from the lower resolution.
Very nice job!
