Top marks for creativity, this game is different from most I've played this jam!

The music is not my cup of tea, but it does add to the overall package.
Something I think would immediately improve it by a lot is clearer hit indications on enemies.

Either way, good job and congratulations on finishing the jam!

I love the retro kind of style, has a sort of nostalgia to it. The sound balancing was a bit off in my opinion: the fx was much louder than the music (which was already pretty loud!) Very well done for the time limit, I can see the effort you put into level design!

This game sorta reminds me of those doom classic 1980s style games. The art style looks good although the game mechanics are kinda confusing.

The movement speed is kinda slow. There's also a delay between when you hit an enemy and when they die, could be just a browser bug tho, and there's no way of telling if I'm actually damaging the spawners.

We're kinda' surprised we even got it working on a windows browser!

Thanks for the heads up, we didn't get around to testing it on our linux setup do to a lack of ethernet ports in our switch for getting it on there.

In the future I'll look towards testing on more platforms!

I love the asthetic and vibe. I wasn't sure exactly what my goal was (defeating enemies/exploration), so making that more clear would improve the game imo. I liked a lot of the character and environment designs, they were wicked! Cool game!

I love the art style and the music separately and while they thematically worked well together I couldn't help but notice the contrast between the audio quality and the simulated limitation used for the graphics. I found the aiming a little finicky to get into, at first attempting to aim with the mouse. Some sort of aim assist would be a nice touch if you decide to iterate beyond the jam. Over all the tessellated aesthetic is well suited the arcade gameplay with bonus points for style, good job!

Yeah, I'm still trying to get more familiar with Godot's audio capabilities so once I got the music working I decided to leave it there for the jam!

No camera control really stood out to me, especially when trying to aim throws at enemies it became very hard to judge angles and distances. I really liked the crunchy pixelated/low poly look, and how you were able to add some really nice assets like the dice plants or the elaborate enemy spawners.

Yeah it's seems for your and other comments that getting the camera clipping working should've been a bigger priority lol. The artist was very proud of his Dice Corn as he called them lmao.

Nice job on submitting! Here's some feedback:

  • The player needs to be able to control the camera, so much of the level was left unseen because I couldn't control the camera. Not being able to see where you are going is a sure fire way to get players frustrated. I'm guessing this was left out due to time constraint.
  • The dice seem to fly through the enemies, which often makes me believe I didn't actually hit them.  Having some kind of feedback for the players actions is also very important.

My suggestion is that next jam, spend less time on the level - make a short polished experience instead of a long unpolished one. Polished games always perform better in jams, length of the game doesn't add much to it.

  1. Initially I had the camera follow the player but due to clipping issues I had to settle with a fixed one :(
  2. The dice have a small particle effect that shows when a hit registered but it seems that was a little hard to see.

The polish wasn't where I wanted it to be either, and I'm definitely revaluating what game jams I have for next time!

I was a bit taken aback by the first scene with the overflow of information of the mechanics. I feel like the sound was a bit too much for me. However, I kind of really dig the art style concept. throwing the dice as a weapon was cool too and some of the sfx were well chosen!

Sadly I ran out of time for a proper tutorial! I felt having some info was better than none, but it definitely ended up being a bit much.

A fun game. Opening with an electric guitar was really cool and the ending visual was a nice touch. You idea of throwing the dice as an attack was nice but I feel like the whole process of preparing your dice was unnecessary and when your attack a whole group of people it causes a bit of earrape. Even after that I really found it enjoyable and the aesthetics is good. Good luck on the jam!

Supposed I should've listened to my audio guy a bit more on the sound design lmao.  The artist also said the same comment about the dice preparation so I guess I should've listened to him too.

🎲 Nice idea, but the gameplay is a bit wonky. I wish the camera followed the character around the level so it's easier to see when you're moving sideways, and a bit better aim. I enjoyed the sounds!

How did you manage to do that much 3D art in that short amount of time? impressive!
