This was really cute and the concept was great! Like others have mentioned maybe mixing up the level design, adding a minimap, and adding some player feedback would be good for motivation and direction. I really like the idea of finding clues as to where you're going though, and the mail delivery was the perfect story for that. Definitely room to expand on characters and story too if you were to keep working on this. Good job!

Thanks so much for the feedback, loads to think about! :)

The concept fits the theme but I felt like there was no reaction to my action, like losing income to take too much time to deliver or accumulate an overwhelming amount of work... I felt like there was nothing to force me to do the work. Also, the map could be smaller for a first level and make the player deliver more and walk less, like in the center of a city... the next level could have far away houses or even other towns... also a receiver could also handle other mail to deliver and get the mailman full of work before the end of the day...idk... sorry if I'm sounding rude.. I just really enjoy the idea and wanted to play a more complex game...

Once again, I liked the mailman concept connecting the houses, the visual style work perfectly but needs some improvements.

Great Concept!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback - I really appreciate it and agree with what you're saying, currently the game's missing a larger sense of progression and motivation and could use a lot of polish.

I'm gonna be honest. I LOVED the concept. It had a perfect 8-bit style of music and the art looked great! It's a very peaceful game and I'm always a fan of those. I think if you added a minimap to the game, it would make it 10X better! If you want to continue working on this game after the jam, I highly recommend it!

Overall though great game :)

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I'm going to consider whether to continue this one after the jam - I did have a couple of novel minimap ideas that would've been fun to experiment with too.

The theme was well treated here. The music could get a little jarring and I was getting some weird artifacting when walking in the open grass. Had fun wandering to every corner just to see if there were any easter eggs or jokes. Overall a fun game, nicely done! On the gameplay it might be better to have the player need to hit a key to start a dialogue, had some weirdness where walking by an NPC resulted in repeated dialogue triggers.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback, I did juggle between auto-triggering the dialogue and not so it's good to hear some thoughts on that (particularly if you've already seen it).

Amazing way to insert the theme, it's brilliant. Love how you have to find places to deliver things by exploring. However, the walking around got boring a few time later, but I think that is something to tweak in the player's character. The music was loud for me and my pc was already at minimum ahah.

Fun quick game with a smart concept

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I think I need to sort the treble on that audio, suspect it's a bit ear-slicing.

Nice idea. I really like to talk with the people of the town. I don't think you need a map, the island is small, and at least I love exploring. Maybe more houses, and different areas. A relaxing experience to deliver the mail on this island.

Clever idea for a game. The world definitely feels empty right now, but I can see how a game like this could get fleshed out. Has some Stardew Valley vibes for sure.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and the feedback :) Would def like to have filled out the world a lot more.

Interesting concept!  I would recommend shrinking the map a bit since the player doesn't have much to do or see while traveling around.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely agree that there's more that could to be done to make travelling around more engaging.

This game has a promising start, it could just use some polish like updated art and maybe new  features ike a map.

Developer

Thanks for playing :) Totally agree on the polish aspect, and a map would be great!

As a few others have stated a map could be very beneficial! I think the game could most benefit from an indicator or message to return to center to pick up new mail. Music was very nice and villagers have some nice comments that add some depth to the world. 10/10 would continue delivering mail to Nuggins!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and the feedback! Nuggins is happy to hear also (in his own way :D). Agree that some clearer feedback would definitely help give the player a hint what to do next when they've ran out of mail to deliver.

Nice idea. Could do with a map to show areas you've explored already. Or perhaps start off with a limited part of the world available to explore and build up gradually

Developer

Thanks for playing! Great ideas about the map or unlocking the world too :)

The game has a good idea and concept, but it needs more polish, it needs a fullscreen button, the map I think is too large and in some places feel empty, but I will say that exploring and trying to find where they each one lived was really fun, and has some potential in that. The music is good, it was fun.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated! Definitely agree on the polish aspect - it was my first solo jam and spent most time figuring out how to get the mechanics working and missed out on filling out the world and adding stuff like character animations which would have added a lot of life.

pretty nice mood and atmorsphere. Though it does get a bit repetitive delivering mails after some time, I like it. Knowing the villagers and exploring around to see the houses and see neighbors envying other neighbor's chimneys. If you extend this, I could say add a little to do in between the travels, like finding a bike and using it, or doing something extra, other than walking. I really liked the mails too and the ways that you portrayed the paths through sign posts and things like that. Overall I enjoyed it and loved the atmosphere

Thanks for playing and the great feedback :) Love the idea of adding more stuff to do, like different modes of transport.

Hi, nice game. The dialogue with villagers was the best part of the delivery. A cool idea would be to have villagers send letters to each others, then the player can watch as their relationship unfolds. Very friendly island

Developer

Thanks - great idea, would be fun to extend it! Was also thinking over time different mail types could be added to help the villagers' stories develop (packages, weird items etc)
