Studio Name:

Charlie Batten

Name Of Game:

Run Away From Snakes

Quick Bio of Game:

An endless runner game, where you play as a pumpkin girl running away from snakes through spooky corridors with lava pools, set in an ostrich cathedral. This is all for my brother's web-comic, where the game is a playable 'panel'. You can see it in action here: http://apsadventures.site/index.php/bailjape/s-pumk-run-away-from-snakes/ (might take a minute to load)

Here's a link to the itch page: https://charlie-batten.itch.io/run-away-from-snakes

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete:

This is a finished game that took two months to create.

Why you became a game developer in the first place:

At first it was something to do with the computer when I was about 9, playing with some software called Multimedia Fusion 2. It was fun to make small terrible games and learn how to improve by trial and error. Right now I'm unsure if this is still a hobby, or if I should try to make a living off of it. Game development takes up all my time nevertheless. Like most people, I have lots of ideas for games and I'm getting better and better at being able to realise them, so might as well :)

Studio Name: Krunchy Fried Games (possibly the finest ever label to be named after a central Manchester chicken shop)

Name Of Game: Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My)

Quick Bio of Game: WABASOM (as the cool kids call it), is a non-linear adventure choosing game in which you must explore dangerous forests, save your friends from a pirate conspiracy, and avoid a particularly odd barbarian who wants to do unpleasant things to your squishy innards.

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete: The game was in development for over a year on-and-off, and only picked up speed once my old workmate volunteered to do the coding. This is the complete version.

Why you became a game developer in the first place: Because putting a game out there, like releasing a book or a song, is like having a child but with the added bonus of it never needing money for new clothes, getting into trouble at school or bringing home that weird guy with the lip piercings.

Before I get into my mysterious absence, let me first start off by apologizing for being gone for so long. I know a lot of developers were reaching out to me by email, asking if I was okay, and the answer is yes I am now. I've already explained to some, but the team and I ran into legal troubles over some phrasings used in a colleagues review. Long story short the review was taken down, and we were essentially forced to quit what we were doing. And since our site is so small, that really impacted our relationships with other long term parties, especially in the EU. Well I say all that to say I'm back now, and I plan to stay. Shouldn't be running into any more legal troubles now. I sincerely look forward to finishing what I had started so long ago.

Ugh that sucks, hope you can still achieve what you wanted to despite the setback.

I do to. As you can see our backlog is extremely full. And on top of this, I'm still doing reviews for NSW games as well. This has been a huge year for gaming in general.

Hey Steve, welcome back!

Serenade of the Sirens

Quick Bio of Game:

Serenade of the Sirens is a 2D retro dungeon crawler with rogue-lite elements.  As a mermaid named Seika, you fight multiple enemies/bosses, collect various items/treasure, and obtain abilities all while traveling through procedurally generated underwater caves.

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete:

The game has been in development for four months (started May 15th).  It's still in development and will be release in early access soon.

Why you became a game developer in the first place:

Because I love playing video games and would like to recreate the same experiences for others.

Studio Name:
Wither Studios, LLC

Name Of Game:
IMMURE

Quick Bio of Game:
IMMURE is a story driven, psychological horror game. Will, the protagonist, has found himself trapped inside a foreboding Mansion with no exit. To escape, he must travel through strange doors which lead into other dimensions, filled with tormented souls. Will must choose to save or destroy these wraiths, in order to discover the truth behind the Mansion along with his own fate.

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete:
The game has been in development for over 3 years. We have a team of 6 who all work in their spare time to on this project. We just recently released a demo which is available here on itch to help raise awareness for our upcoming Kickstarter which is going to launch on October 15th, 2018 with the purpose of having people go full-time so we can complete the full game.

Why you became a game developer in the first place:
Strange question to answer given that Wither is a group of people haha. For me personally (my name is Mike), I got interested in game development when I was in High School (over ten years ago now, man I'm getting old) when I started modding games like Morrowind. I excel at more logic based activities such as programming but I also enjoy expressing my more creative side so game development gives me the ability to do both!

Name Of Game: Horace

Quick Bio of Game: Horace is a story-driven, pixel platform adventure about a small robot on a big adventure. Think cinematic cutscenes but with little pixel guys, all tied together with traversal challenges that will test your brain as much as your abilities! The demo will showcase approx. 2 hours of game play as it branches out into the more metroidvania style later in the demo!

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete: I've spent the past 6 years developing Horace! It's still in development but edging closer to launch. At this moment in time, I estimate I will release the final version early next year.

Why you became a game developer in the first place: I played Space Invaders when I was about 4 and it's all I wanted to do since! It's all I have done for the past 25 years. I hated school as it got in the way of my pixelling at home.

Name Of Game: Beam Puzzle

Quick Bio of Game: It is a remake of a game that I made for Symbian back when Nokia phones were still ruling the mobile world. Which itself was a inspired by a game that I made in the 90s on for an Amiga. (  The symbian version did reasonably well on Handango, where it was called IQ ).

Why you became a game developer in the first place: The games I wanted to play didn't exist so I wanted to learn how to  make them. Then I discovered that making games that people enjoy playing is more fun than playing them.
