I really like this twist on the match-3 genre, it adds more of a puzzle aspect to it. I did take me a while to figure out the actual mechanics of this though, I would have given up if it hadn't been a jam game. Once I got the idea though, I enjoyed playing this.

The presentation is quite good but I think the background, especially the dark section, clashes with the foreground elements too much. The size of the UI elements feels pretty random too.

Developer

Yeah I get what you mean, the UI feels a bit off to me as well.

I am glad you had fun with it (:

I have to agree with everyone else in saying that the art and music is great! I love the theme and atmosphere of it, even if it could use a little polish (but it's a jam game, so no worries)!

Developer

Thank you very much! And yes, everything could (and should) be WAY more polished then it is :)

Great idea, almost perfectly executed. The artstyle and music contributes to a really chill match-3 game. Would love to have a little guide to show all the 'Guns' you can. The dynamite also doesn't seem to do much, maybe it could give you a 'bomb' to blow up chunk of the puzzle or triggering it would 'explode' the pieces near the matched dynamite?

In all honesty, it does nothing because the original idea for it caused WAY TOO MUCH CHAOS.

The best idea I had for fixing it is being able to destroy "unbreakable objects" that could spawn, but... game jam, so I had no time to try it and test :P

I'm really glad you liked it (:

Nice idea, love the art and sounds :) I scored 363 then I got bored, it was a bit too easy in my opinion :)

Developer

That is really fair :)

If I were to make a full game out of this, I would've created more variation and challenges to make different kinds of levels so it will not just be about earning $$

But you know, a game jam is time limited and stuff ~

I love the art. Especially the little animations of the tiles, they are very charming. The whole thing had a matching theme that worked very well, down to the fonts and the music. My high score is 156 :)

Thank you very much! It's the first time I worked on a jam alone in a LONG time so I am really happy you liked the matching theme! :)

Nice match-3. My highscore is 59

It took me a while to figure out that the tiles has actual effect (gun to have a new gun, bullet to get more moves etc.) and I like that. You really have to strategize  your moves.

The game is also tricker that it seems. At first I thought it would be too easy if you just shoot the tiles you don't want and it all goes down but how you solve it using different gun is really nice. You really have to think how everything will fall down.

I feel the game should do a better job showing how these sub-system work otherwise you can easily overlook them.

Nice job.

Developer

Thank you very much!

I would have gone with a tutorial to explain how everything works, but I didn't have time for that (started half a day late :P)

I am really glad people are figuring it out on their own though :)

Not necessary a tutorial, it can just be clearer feedback during gameplay.

If you match bullets, you have bullets flying to the magasin. You match guns and the new gun appear in the corner with a flash, particles etc. You can also put the bullet pattern next to the gun so that the player can associate both of them more easily.

And in a jam, if you don't have time to be fancy, just add text flashing briefly that explains the internal logic of the systems. "New gun acquired" "3 additional bullets" etc.

Developer

You are right, I'll try and make things clearer in the next jam :)

It was really interesting. I loved how you really shifted the core of the genre. I haven't seen this type of match 3 before

Developer

I  really flattered, thank you very much!

Developer

Thank you! You are very cool as well!

Not bad, was more fun that I thought it would be! Very interesting mechanics, and I suppose if swapping tiles is a core tenet of the match 3 genre, then this should qualify! Good work!

Developer

Thank you (:

I was hoping people will find it interesting!

Cool, but I don't really  know what it has to do with the theme, Its still a fun game though.

Developer (1 edit)

You can't swap tiles, which is a core mechanic in match 3 games.

Glad you liked it (:
