I found the item responsible for the war, a jar, and 9 gems. I took the first item (I think its a plant of some kind) and tried to use it in the area I spawned in. it seemed to trigger the end of the game... I like your music and animations.

I couldn't figure out what to do after collecting the Lotus Flower - or even if I DID actually collect it, since when I swung the bottle at it, the bottle didn't seem to contain it, and the leaves of the flower made the same animation if I slashed at it. I also couldn't figure out what the purpose of the gems were.
However, the movement was very smooth and felt nice to control. I really like the idea of equipping two items to two different buttons. The sprite / animation work was very visually pleasing; I particularly liked the enemy sprite, and the animation of the grass being cut. The characters avatar changing depending on what items were used is a really nice touch that adds a lot of charm.
There is some good groundwork here. If you expanded this, and applied a bit more purpose and direction, I can see something very nice growing out of this. Cheers :)
Yeah I only got done about half of what I wanted to do, but at least have a working Engine to build my full game off of! Glad you love the animation! The bush sprites aren't mine(Ben from Heartbeast) . To "Finish" the game, after using the jar on the Flower it appears in your inventory. Just use it like an item after that. just shows an alternate title screen and plays a secret track with extra art for the game.
I have updated the game since the jam ands plan on finishing it.
Glad you like my game mechanic
This is a really promising engine, I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of it in the future, great job. The animations are really good and the art is great too :)
