The concept here is great. I love the idea of switching between the two sides of a console to input controls and a map of where you are. The art is also fantastic, and revealing the map again when you press a button or get a key is brilliant!
However there's a couple of issues, both major and minor.
- The reset button completely breaks the game, forcing a reload and losing all progress.
- The tiles make it difficult to count how many steps you need to move. A checkerboard pattern with the exact same size as step length would be great.
- Forgetful people like me are basically forced to take notes and open up a new tab with them. Adding an in-game note taker would be great!
Overall, the game was still great! It's definitely something to expand on in future, and definitely deserves a lot of polish!
Thank you for the amazing feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! The reset button is unfortunately glitched, and I only found out after the deadline, so I couldn't fix it... The rest really are things that I should work on, thank you for pointing them out! Again, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
The visuals are great and the premise sounds very interesting and unique. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the cube to move or respond to my commands, when I type "reset", it just gets stuck in the scene transition :(
Wow, the visuals are stunning, nothing to complain about. Very coherent art style! Everything feels responsive and the music is pleasant as well. I was uncertain at first but I believe you hit the theme very well. I really like the decision to reveal the stage again once you find a key. As with my submission, the mechanic wasn't immediately obvious to players though. But besides that, top-notch work!
Amazing game! but didn't see the theme in it.
some recommendations:
1. list of commands, always accessible inside the console (just a button to show instructions)
2. a notepad inside the game to take notes
3. counting moves should be easier, I had to put my finger on the screen :D maybe make every tile the exact size of a movement distance.
Thanks for the amazing feedback! I'll look into making counting moves less frustrating for players... The theme is not really that transparent through he gameplay, but it is basically two sides: one where you can move, but can't see, and one where you can see, but can't move. Not that well implemented, but was what I could come up with...
the game was nice but couldn't really get the hang of it but it was really good.
This had a cool concept. Once I figured it out, it became really fun. Good Job!
A cool concept, but I was confused at first as to what the commands were. More clear tiling on the floor might also help. Overall, a great game! Also, what are the "two sides"?
Thanks for playing and rating the game! There are two sides as there is one side of gameplay that is focused on looking at the stage and remembering it, and the other one that is focused on giving the commands, and they're separate from each other! You could also interpret it as the side of the one cube, that is on the dark side, and the side of the player/command giver, who's at a control room of sorts.
Thanks for the feedback, also, I really appreciate it!
I tried refreshing my page several times to play the game, but I always got stuck in the tutorial. The game said right was successfully executed, but my player was not moving. Seems like a really cool concept and I would be interested in playing it once these small bugs have been squashed. Thank you for making this game!
Loved the music and SFX, did you make those??
The tutorial doesnt teach you that well, I noticed... You're supposed to tell the player to walk right until reaching the next screen. I could've clarified it a bit more... The music was completely made by me, and most of the sfx also. I grabbed some out of royalty free websites, but most of them were made by me. Thanks for playing the game and letting me know the struggle, and thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
Excellent game, one of the best I tried so far in the jam. The concept is very interesting, and I really love your art and music (I must admit that I do love the transition you've made for your game). One big problem tho, when I used the reset the game just froze :c But nonetheless, I do love what you did overall, you did an excellent job, well done :)
The art was adorable, and the concept was well executed mostly well. Would have recommended making the tiles alternate between two colors to make it easier to count how many steps would need to be taken, definitely.
With that said, I would have really struggled with understanding how to actually play if I didn't find out about this kind of game a few weeks ago. Regardless, loved the idea.
💜
This was a very cool concept executed very well. I loved everything about it, but my memory definitely struggled. Good job!
Extremely unique game! Could have made the instructions from down on the computers keyboard to "Down ARROW on the computers keyboard" i was confused for a second.
