Thanks to everyone who played my game and commented!

I won't be available to respond to comments for the remainder of the jam, so I hope everyone has a great weekend, and keep enjoying each others' games!

The idea is very creative! It was a very challenging game!

Developer

Thank you! Hopefully it was challenging in a good way!

Loved it. great concept. fiddling with the mouse while staying next to the console was a tough part... but i guess that could be fixed... thanks for the game

Developer

Glad you liked it! I've got some post-jam improvements to make using the cursor less fiddly - hopefully that will address the issue you experienced. Regarding your other comment about a lack of music:  I've been so focused on the mechanics I didn't think about audio, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Interesting concept! I feel that there is a ton of room for expanding on the premise, and I'd like to see how far the idea could be taken! Nice work!

Thank you for the kind words!

Great job! I really like this idea and thought it was well-executed. I didn’t feel it was too hard and I had a good time playing it.

I only have 3 critiques:

[1] It wasn’t immediately obvious that the cursor in the bottom left screen was controlled by me. I tried for way too long trying to click “Accept” with my mouse lol. I figured it out eventually, but maybe a small hint would help?

[2] I’m not sure if this was on purpose, but when I turn off the “Woods” area in the control panel, it shuts off the top right and bottom left screens. This totally makes sense as to why it does that, but I just didn’t know if you meant to do that. Because your only option after that is to restart.

[3] It wasn’t immediately obvious where I needed to take the disk to win. I tried the factory, and only after I went to shut the factory off did I get lucky enough to win lol

Other than that, great game! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next year!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it!

Your confusion about the "Accept" button is completely understandable - I'll add a note to the game page to address that for now. Regarding turning off the world that contains the control panel - it was not intended, but I wasn't able to find a solution in time (the restart button was added last-minute as a workaround for it.) For where to bring the disk, I've got some ideas for some post-jam tweaks to make that a bit more clear.

Thanks again!

Oh cool, thanks for responding! Yeah, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy lol

I really like this idea of having multiple games at once. It’d be even cooler if they were different perspectives too. Like 3D, topdown, isometric, and platformer. But I really like the idea as is. Again, great job making it!

Really liked the idea of turning off worlds to bypass the portals and send things where you want to go - would love to see that idea expanded. Good work juggling the disparate worlds!

Developer

Thank you! I agree, there's a lot of untapped potential in controlling how the worlds link up - if I develop the game further (post-jam) I'd love to do more with that.

Very impressed with the creative use of the theme! Fun puzzler, I just wish it was a bit longer! I think the game controls are really nice but I think having a better way to focus attention on one part of the screen would be nice, particularly controlling the options menu/bottom left screen was a bit frustrating to do as I had to do weird somersaults on the 2d views to push the crosshair across? That could be a fun mechanic but I also kept clicking the button to turn off a screen with this method, which felt a bit annoying.

But honestly, I love this kind of unconventional design and it's great! I hope Mark sees and plays this, to be honest!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! My favorite part of jamming is getting to explore weird designs - both as a creator and a player.  And I hear you on the bottom-left screen being wonky to use - I'd originally intended that to be a part of another puzzle, but when I ended up cutting the puzzle (was more frustrating than fun) I left the screen as-is (and it became another victim of the jam's time-limit.)

When I saw the concept for this game, I was worried I'd become easily overwhelmed with all the stuff going on. To that end, I can only feel like your decision to make it a slower, more methodical puzzle game was the right call. You did a good job of establishing a grammar of verbs pretty early on, and were able to communicate it to me largely by rewarding my own exploration with interesting results. This is definitely one of the better-designed games I've come across so far in this jam, despite its simple visual presentation, and that's definitely something to be proud of. Great job!

I think about the only note I can offer is regarding the top-right 2d area (The wasteland, I think?). It wasn't especially clear how to get up to the console and once I did do it, I wasn't totally clear if that was the intended result, or I just gamed the physics a bit.

Developer

Thank you! It's a bit of a relief to hear that the pacing of the discovery worked so well for you: I didn't have time for any outside playtesting, so I was just going with my gut on it.

Regarding reaching the console: if the physics let you do it, then it's legit. (Though it sounds like I could probably telegraph that better in-game.)

Super neat concept! I like that there aren't too many hazards to deal with at any given time because it seems like this concept could get overwhelming quickly. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear you liked the balance of hazards: I'd considered adding more, so it's good to know that wasn't needed.

Really cool take on the theme, though I wish there was a way to undo toggling a screen on/off. I had to retry many times due to accidentally toggling something off too early which led to the control screen getting toggled off.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Being able to undo a toggle is a great idea - I'd wanted to put some kind of safety net on that screen, to avoid the situation you described. If I could make changes to it now, that would definitely be top of the list!

Such a creative idea! Didn't know what to do after I jumped on the computer but loved it!

Developer

Thanks for the praise! The computer should open up a third screen - did that work for you? Or were you having trouble with interacting with the screen? (There's a moveable cursor on that screen, but, now that I look at it, it's a bit small/hard to see.)

Submitted

Thanks so much! I think it's because I wasn't playing it on full screen at first, my bad! I was able to get all 4 screens to work, thanks!

simply genious!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Interesting concept, but maybe trying to do too much. Felt like it was too difficult or felt awkward to manage all four scenarios at the same time.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'd wanted the game's difficulty to come from juggling so much at once - it's good to know that worked (though perhaps it worked a bit too well.)
