I like the idea of your game.  I think overall it's a little too smart for me, and there isn't any punishments  for random clicking and praying. I think you did a great job with the theme of the jam, and you made something very practical and useful, which I think is fantastic.

Developer

Thanks 😄 !! Yeah there is just the multiplier going down if you don't do anything, but I didn't want a game you could lose haha

This is my favorite! The game has so much potential. It has to be included in chemistry textbooks. I discovered all 42, and many molecules with no names too. Why there is no C2?

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much, it's really impressive to form them all !! I don't remember my chemistry class enough to explain why two carbons can't form a "quadruple" bond, sorry haha

This has the potential to be a great edutainment game! Splitting into a sandbox versus a quiz/campaign mode could be really fun!

Developer

Thank you !! Yeah I thought about different game modes, but after the jam unfortunately

Fun AND Educational! Really loved it!

Developer

Thank you :D !!

Wow, what a cool way to depict chemistry! Could totally see this being used in a classroom to explain how all these bonds work. Would be nice to see the electrons incorporated as ions and some cleaner art assets, but polishing that up could lead to a very nice educational game!

Developer

Tjnak you very much! Yeah art is not my strong  point, so I do as I can haha

Great game bro 👍

Developer

Thanks!

This really pulled me in! Very interesting, feels satisfying to play! I enjoyed it a lot! Awesome work! Fav++

Developer

Thanks a lot!!

Awesome game! Possible the one I played the most in this jam!

Developer

Thank you !!

This is the best game I've seen so far! It may be my personal interests, but so far a game hasn't grabbed my interest and pulled me in the way this did. On top of all that, it was made in pygame which is one of the most awkward languages to build a game in. Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you very much for your comment it is really pleasing to read!!

Excellent, I have spend too much time with this game, a great timewaster, i could see this game being on the google play, just make efor mobile and you're done. Excellent job

Developer

Thank you very much, it means a lot!

My first Python game that I've played in the jam and it's a lot of fun. My only advice would be to have a visual reminder of how many numbers each needed, as I kept forgetting. But it was very crunchy and fun to play.

Developer

Thank you ! The reminder is in the formula but I guess it may be a good idea to have a visual representation yes!

This is very engaging! Would have been nice to have a periodic table, or a table showing different types of categories of bindings, as I started to just idle for hint after I found 25. Which means the design is possible to expand further. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much! Yeah I could have done a lot to help to find molecules, but I didn't find an elegant solution in time, besides the hint haha

I am a chemistry lover and 5 star originality! This game is fitting the theme perfectly.

You cannot create carbon monoxide (CO) because all the atoms should be full of valencies.

Developer

Thank you it is very nice to read!

Yeah it would add another layer of complexity to be able to create some molecules, so I chose not to include them.

Submitted(+1)

That was actually a lot of fun :D I really like the core concept here, maybe it could be expanded with moving atoms or some sort of tetris mode where you can see upcoming molecules.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!

Very interesting concept. I spent a good deal of time clicking on everything because I had one large mess in the middle that wouldn't go away, and I couldn't figure out why.

It was a singular not-fully-bonded carbon.

Developer

Yeah maybe I should have made it clearer which atom wasn't fully bonded haha

Thank you!

Pretty cool! I could see this being a decent learning tool for chemistry students! I couldn't figure out how to delete bonds I drew so my game usually ended quickly after making a big mistake. Also big respect for using PyGame! ^^

Developer

Thank you!!

While this game mostly made me feel bad for basically forgetting everything I learned in high school chem (I even took an advanced class in it) this was a super cool concept, and I kind of wish I had this as a tool to study with! I'm glad you stuck with just a few atoms since more might have made it far too complex, but maybe having different levels with different building blocks for molecules would be cool! Solid music and art as well! Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much! Yeah I stuck with the "basic" four we see in class and because they all have different number of bonds, but it could be cool to have other atoms in different mode for sure!

Submitted

I feel the same way! Amazing game and I should definitely study Chemistry again.

great puzzle game, I really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you!

no problem, hope you don't mind giving feedback on my entry.

This game is really addictive, I played it in 30 minutes. But the more molecules I found, the more patience I lost TwT

Developer

Wow it is really nice to know someone played it so long ! Thank you very much

nice. This game get's you up to speed on concepts that takes almost  half a year to get a good grasp of in high school.

great job!

Developer

Thanks!
