Code, art and sfx were made during the jam. The music was downloaded from the internet.

A well designed game. You would never think this was made for a game jam. The pixel art is beautifully made. The music really suits the game. The mechanics of the game are well polished. I had a lot of fun playing your game. Hope to see more.

Quite the comment! Paku and I are currently working on another game actually, way too soon to call anything playable but I already made some art for it, you can see more at https://twitter.com/thusky_pixelart we will also post more on itch.io, eventually going steam with a demo/wishlist to have feedback on the core of our game!

Thanks for the review by the way, it was my first Game Jam (not Paku's) and this game wouldn't have existed without him, he did 70% of the job I'd say, I did 30%!

Really solid gameplay and take on the theme. The levels were just the right amount of difficulty and added mechanics in an intelligent way. Great effort!

Submitted(+1)

This game has my highest rating yet! I love the art, it has great level design, cool take on the theme and it's really original! I love how cute the game looks, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks Break! Happy to know we're high in your standards, it means a lot to me in particular since this is my first game jam ever!

Submitted(+1)

No way! This was my first game jam to but mine was nowhere near this good!

Submitted(+1)

I love the art! I also loved the clever puzzles that came out of this design. The solutions were elegant!

Developer

I like the choice of words, hits the spot! Thank you for the feedback and for enjoying our game!

Cute game. I really loved the pixel art. Great job!

Could you please play and rate my game as well?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the cuteness! Don't know what breed your profile pic is from but I have two border collies so high five for that! I'll do my best to play/rate back!

Submitted(+1)

Please do and thank you!

It is a mini Australian Shephard. Love border collies too though!

Thanks again!

I really enjoyed your game! The idea is simple yet brilliant and the artwork and animations are just amazing.

At first I didn't know how the mechanic worked, and I'm not sure if there's a tutorial of some kind below the chicken ages, as the screen cuts it off even in full screen mode. Still, I figured it out soon and enjoyed the game quite a lot.

Definitely a great entry, congrats and keep it up! Would appreciate so much if you could check out my game and leave a rating :)

Developer(+1)

Aaah that's unfortunate! You must have had a resolution that isn't a multiple of 1920x1080, but still if you enjoyed it that's great! I'll check out your game at once, thanks for the nice feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea, I originally had something similar in mind, just with a caterpillar. :D

Developer(+1)

Ahahah! I would have loved to play this, you could have done a lot of nice things with a caterpillar too including flying!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah exactly, I was planning to reduce the damage you take in cocoon form too and stuff like that. But I still have the idea on paper, so maybe one day it will become a game. :D

Developer

As they say, don't let your dreams be dreams! This game jam taught me that if I have some drive I can produce a lot of pixel art, I struggle to keep long terms goals like making assets to sell in stores, I just don't find the "use" for it, but if I can feel useful to someone (or the team) for a game jam, I'm driving high!

Submitted(+1)

Hmmm are we talking about a possible collaboration here? :D

Developer

Ahah I'm already working full time on my own IP but I wouldn't be against commissioned work!

Submitted(+1)

This game was literally so fun! I loved how you introduced the new puzzle mechanics slowly and each age of the chicken had different things it could/couldn't do. However I would make it more obvious that the senior chicken can't fall from certain heights. Other than that, this game was well done, fun, and lasted for quite a while!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! We missed a lot of polish for much of the user experience, the fact that you enjoyed this regardless of our flaws means a lot, I aim to do better next time so we tell the player exactly what they're getting into! So yeah, completely agree on the old chicken death behavior!

Super cute game, I had a lot of fun playing this! It took me till about level 4 or so to actually understand how the numbers were changing and why it was making me die.. I originally thought I just couldnt move more than 16 times haha. The art style was adorable and it felt super polished, well done :D

Developer

Sorry about these 4 levels Aileena, I'll be sure to learn player experience for the next time! Tutorials/Teaching is important, even through gameplay, I learnt a lot! Thanks for the heartwhelming comments!

One of the best games in this jam. Nice work. You covered so many game design basis in this submission. Keeping it between the egg and the grave.. Nice.

Developer

Man, awesome, it means a lot because it seems like you know exactly what you're talking about, thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

game is really fun and  i like  the use of rewind theme

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea. Love the artstyle and the puzzles. Great game. Well done! :)

Developer

Thank you Kytric, glad you enjoyed it! Happy you took the time to rate as well, I take the time too, now that I can rate games!

Very cool puzzle game idea. The art was reminiscent of Stardew Valley if that's what you were going for

Developer

The art wasn't specially coming from Stardew Valley (as I don't fancy it at all actually) but I do get the vibe of the color palette and maybe because it's a chicken! Overall I took inspiration from Saint11 tutorials for pixel art and random things I found online, was fun going outside of my usual art style!

Submitted(+1)

Clever puzzles. But it took a long time for me to figure out what was happening. Maybe its just for me. Nicely done.

Checkout my game at https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724912. Hope you like it.

Developer(+1)

Definitely not just you, lots of people, we didn't spend enough time on the user experience and teaching each mechanic. Lesson learnt though, thanks for the feedback! Will definitely check out your game but I can't guarantee a rating since Paku is the one who submitted our game (I can't vote)

Submitted(+1)

Thanks a lot. Try your best to rate it.

If I remember correctly, the original submitter can add more users as "admins" to their project which then can be ticked as "collaborators" to be displayed as additional creators of the submission and to be granted the permission to vote.

You'll find the option under the Admins section (hidden under More) of your project's Edit Project page (you can find the button to enter the page beneath your specific project on the Projects section of your dashboard) but since only the original creator can access the edit page, you'll have to ask paku to add you.   That's how I got to vote on all these amazing submissions.  :D

Good luck!

Developer

Dang if I only knew! Thanks for the tip!

Your welcome  ^^

Really clever game, I like it! I played it for a while, fun and well polished, great job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I hope you found it challenging enough to your tastes!

Fun game! Loved the mechanic and the various abilities of the chickens. The levels weren't particularly hard, but they were still really fun, and there's an option to solve the puzzles in the minimum number of moves if players want to get good at the game. It's a nice way to provide a dynamic/adaptive difficulty in a way. Nice one!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed our rough attempt to make this work! Definitely going to make harder levels if we have a level/based game next time!

Submitted(+1)

This game is really smart. Good puzzles that are fun to solve, really 200IQ game mechanic. Game looks nice sounds nice and plays nice. Really good job

Developer(+1)

Well thank you! Means Paku and I make it to 200IQ together, glad to read that!

Submitted(+1)

That is a very nice little puzzle game. There is also a great fill to it and obviously lot of thought put into it! Well done!

Developer

Ahah we spent way too much time thinking for some parts (specially me) but I'll overthink less next time and do more! Thanks for the warm feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Really awesome puzzle mechanics here and the sprite art and animations were top notch!  It was fun to figure out how many steps and when the chicken would change and such.  Great job making this cool and unique game for the jam!  When you have time please check out my game if you haven't :D

Developer

Thanks! Definitely will check your game but won't be able to rate since Paku is the one who submitted!
