Hi! Streaming your game now:
Interesting idea that i think can be an amazing game with more polish! Was hard to understand what needed to be done but I think with some more polish and some lore exposition this can be great.
I don't get it :(
I really like the CRT style of the game but I couldn't figure out what to do or maybe I'm just dumb! Also, I had problems with the resolution tho.
Great job nailing the win98/xp aesthetic. The CRT flicker is a nice touch.
A few thoughts I had:
Echo Decoder absolutely nails that retro Windows aesthetic — it's a visual treat. The diegetic UI is a highlight, making you feel like you're actually sitting in front of an old machine.
That said, I hit a wall immediately. Even the first audio sample left me completely stumped — I couldn't figure out what the game wanted me to do. A bit more onboarding or a clearer hint system would go a long way.
Beautiful visual style and nice audio! The game looks quite polished. It made me nostalgic as well 🥲 I have to agree with other people that I am not quite sure how to progress through the game.
I like the windows vibe. The art and sounds are well done. The gameplay I feel lost it.
I'm really sorry that the tutorial and guidance are a bit confusing right now. I'll definitely be thinking about how to help players better understand the machine's mechanics. Thanks for the feedback!
The windows vibe feels good, just a little too small resolution 😅
Thanks for playing! Sorry about the resolution, it seems I didn't set up the fullscreen mode properly. For now, you can zoom in using your browser (Ctrl + Mouse Wheel). I'll definitely fix this issue in a future update.
The game looks incredibly well done, love the windows vibe. Unfortunately like some other people said, I cant figure out what's happening or what I'm supposed to do. Congrats on finishing the game though.
Thank you so much! I’m really happy you liked the Windows vibe. I’ve realized the gameplay is a bit too cryptic right now—definitely something I’ll work on for the post-jam version.
This game is interesting, but I have no idea how to decode it even with the help and readme open lol. Love the art and vibe created by the sound design. Might need some more trial and error to get to know how to play the game. Incredible work you got there!
Thanks for the support! I'm glad you enjoyed the sound design and the art. I’m sorry the decoding was so confusing; the tutorial definitely needs a rework to be more accessible. Really appreciate you giving it a try!
Love the style
Thank you!
Gherafics are very real great art style and sound effect is perect good job
Thank you so much!
The puzzles are pretty sophisticated! I struggled a bit with solving them even though I had the docs opened. I enjoyed the old Windows art style.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the art style. I've realized the tutorial is a bit of a hurdle right now, so I’m planning to rework the onboarding flow to make the mechanics more intuitive in the next update. Thanks for sticking with it!
This is amazing! I’m really curious how you achieved that fisheye-like sense of depth. It looks incredible! (ツ)ノ
Thanks! I used Unity's Post-Processing to get that fisheye effect. I followed this tutorial if you're curious: https://youtu.be/49KVkXXpFB4?si=kr1c3B5PQ5lrdcmu
Graphics are very impressive, we really have the feeling to use an old XP computer, well done!
This game has a creepy pasta vibe, it can totally fit as a video for a YouTube-horror channels trying to explain the strange lore behind an obscure game x)
Unfortunately I must be a bit dumb to understand what to do exactly. The tutorial in the .txt file is a very (very!) good idea, but I can't understand what I'm reading there x') The instructions speak about drones, I have no clues what is it in the context of this game (but maybe it's because my english is not that good, as a french player?)
If you plan to go further on this game after the jam, I would advice to start with minor and easy puzzles to solve, and increase the difficulty as the player progress. I definitively would like to try again a more accessible version of this game!
I'm really glad you liked the style and the vibe!
I definitely fell short on the tutorial part. Relying purely on a text file makes it really hard to understand, especially for non-native English speakers (I'm not a native speaker myself either, so I completely get it). This part definitely needs a lot of adjustment.
I will think about how to use simpler starting puzzles to naturally guide players and make the basic mechanics easier to grasp.
Thank you so much for playing and for the detailed feedback!
i loved this! The windows XP layout brought me back. Solid work and for a two week jam... thats incredible your attention to detail!
Thank you! Polishing those retro details was my favorite part. Glad you enjoyed it!
When I opened this, I thought, wow. "How did he create this?"
Thanks a lot!
this is a really unique game, great job
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it.
Love the way it all looks. Have no clue what I'm supposed to do tho.
Thanks for the compliment on the looks! Yeah, using just a text file for the rules made it way too confusing. I definitely need to improve the tutorial. Thanks for playing!
