It's a game about exploring and taking photos of an alien moon inhabited by strange creatures.

A 50 lines tail animator script that I made previously. Skybox and ground texture from the asset store. Some sounds effects. That's it, everything else was made during the jam.

Oh my god it was so cool. The atmosphere is really amazing and I loooooove the music, fit really well with the game. And I don't know who did the level design, but a respect to him for this plan. Don't know why you only have 19 rates. Good job for this entry !

Developer

Glad you like the level design! I used this jam to practice it.

The game looks stunning! And the story is good written!

Absolutely stunning visuals. The audio complements it perfectly. Great job!

Visuals are uncanny, as for just a week jam!

I really enjoyed the visuals, atmosphere, environment! Good work

This game had some very pretty moments. The giant spider bot was my favourite, seeing him move into the water was impressive. I am wondering whether everything was animated or if you guys did all the movements procedurally. The flow was immaculate. I must say the ship has heavy NMS vibes, along with the start I just thought I was playing NMS anyway.

The audio could have had some more love with extra sounds to make things feel more alive, but even with what was there, it was still really good.

It was a really beautiful experience!

The animations are fully procedural. They are all mostly based on 2 scripts: a "tail" animator and a legs animator (based on unity's two bones IK), then the creature are moved using unity's SplineAnimator. There are also a few very simple rotations and translation tweening scripts.

Wow thats cool! It's something I really want to try and do in the future

It was very good  the visuals are amazing and the texts very entertaining

This was a really nice experience. Great atmosphere to begin with, fits the theme perfect. The world you managed to build in one week is really impressive. There were some really great views that I took a photo off that I would deem one of the best but the character only said "Not my best photo" and I disagree! Jokes aside, really good job on this, I enjoyed it a lot even if there wasn't much "gameplay", I can tell you put a lot of work into the game programming and systems and hell, even the options menu is well done with tweakable settings. Thumbs up from me!

This looks so atmospheric! Like a way cooler version of the 'Mycelia' planet from my game. Sadly I can't try it because you didn't upload a web or linux build (yet!).

Developer

Sorry, a web version is not possible for this game. And no one in the team can test a linux build.

This was a beautiful entry! I LOVED the environment, music, game idea. You could develop a game out of this demo, with multiple levels and explorable environments. It may be tricky to make it replayable, but I hope you continue to develop it :)
Best game I played in this jam so far. However I would improve one thing:
You could put a reminder about the photographing mechanic. It's not very usual that the player needs to click to do it, so remind us that this mechanic is important. I had to go and read about this mechanic in the game description. I would love to do it in the game instead.

I know it's complicated, but the webgl version would have attracted more people to play this beautiful game. Advice for next time!

Well done, and keep jaming!!

Amazing atmosphere! Really loved the combinations of the visuals and audio. Had a couple suggestions: I think the mouse control is way too sensitive even after turning the slider all the way down so that could really help with navigation. Also I think it happened to me a couple times where I took a picture of something on the edge of my screen that triggered a new piece of dialogue, and I didn't realize what it was reacting to. Maybe a way to highlight to the player what triggered that dialogue would be neat so players don't miss it. Otherwise great work!

The atmosphere was supreme and all of the current game content is so well executed!

It feels like playing a dream

This is so awesome! You should be proud. Beautiful, relaxing game. I had a lot of fun playing it.

Very beautiful game! I loved the subtle world building through the dialogue and just being able to explore this place was amazing. :D

Submitted(+1)

Very well put together! Very coherent and every part contributes to the atmosphere, even down to the floaty controls :)

Well done! I really liked the art, and how the dialogue explains something about the planet. The carcinisation part was actually really interesting haha

i got so excited at seeing the opening cutscene; i think it's the first time i've seen a cutscene in this game jam. the idea for taking photos really incentivizes  you to look around and explore the amazing world. the crab moving was INSANE, and the progression of your reaction to him waking up was really well done. everything i did felt like it had an impact and that felt amazing. i did get stuck while falling off the cliff with the jellyfish though. out of curiosity, how were you able to identify what objects were in frame of the camera so you could display the appropriate messages and advance the cutscenes?

Developer(+1)

Sorry that you got stuck (you are not supposed to go in the jellyfishes pond), there are invisible walls to prevent falling but I guess I missed a few spots. It's a shame because it's just before the best 2 scenes. (you can always restart and come back here in 2 minutes, though).

To get the objects in the frame each I check if every target's collider is inside the camera frustrum, then I use a raycast to check if nothing is blocking the view. (but this system is a bit glitchy and sometimes detects objects incorrectly)

i did restart and come back!! it was genuinely magical and i loved the animation on the giant spider and the chirp of those flying creatures haha.thanks for letting me know how you did it. it wasn't buggy at all in my case ;)

I played it to the end. It's got a cool atmosphere with the music and visuals. Kinda reminded me of some zones in world of warcraft !

Submitted(+1)

Very atmospheric! I like the photography aspect. Excellent spacecraft.

I could not figure out how to progress past the crab and the too steep path though.

Developer (7 edits) (+1)

Sorry that you got stuck. The game is not super intuitive and a bit glitchy.

(SPOILER)

For the crab you have to take a photo from very close, it will open a new path.

Another place where some people get stuck is just after the crab, when you are stuck you should turn back and you'll see a vine to climb.

Will give it another go!
