Amazing game, this truly is created by a man who TESTS! I wonder how you are going to implement the theme into this? Other than that an amazing nostalgic sorta game. Well done!

Perhaps you would like to try out my game :D

Loved the game! Also, I felt like some cards were MUCH stronger than others!

I liked the gameplay and art style can be more improved.

Not usually a card game person, but I really enjoyed this.
The way each card functioned was very fun to play around with, and I loved the roguelite element to it.
There is one thing.. When a new card function/term is introduced or you get to play it for the first time, there's not really much of an indicator as to what it does and you kind of have to guess at first. But other than that, this was really well designed and well polished, and I loved the visuals and audio. Had a lot of fun with this one and would totally love to play it if it ever gets a full release. :)

Well done, played it for a while and really had fun.
Pretty 3D graphics and nice visuals, really fitted the game's vibe .

Congrats !

Loved this! Great vibes and aesthetic, the art direction is phenomenal! The mechanics took a second to get used to, in that I wasn't initially sure how the turn order worked. I also wasn't sure whether the card choices you get after a fight added cards to your deck or upgraded existing cards, so early choices felt a bit haphazard. I would've liked to have had an opportunity to play out more cards in the turn order (maybe as part of a boss encounter, you let the player go all out, etc.)

You've basically got a mini Slay the Spire here! Very impressive for a week jam, you guys must've worked hard!

Fun experience seeing what all of the cards do and I very much liked the detail of the cards being formatted like newspapers to fit the aesthetic

I love card games, this looks really nice and it feels very complete, but something feels missing from the game. I feel like something with the card design could maybe be  improved

Nice work! I had a good time with this game. I like the art style a lot, both the 2D and 3D work is really good. Mechanics and gameplay are also very satisfying.

(I only played up to level 6.)

Stuff I liked a lot:

  • The execution of the theme, visually and through sound—especially how the card designs match the overall theme

  • The (random) battle order system

  • The card system itself felt really polished and smooth (sounds, slot “snap”, navigating the hand)

  • The card sounds on mouse-over and when a new card is shuffled in

Stuff I disliked:

  • I found the cards/effects a bit boring/repetitive because thematically many of them do similar things

  • Since you only play two cards, the variation feels pretty limited

  • I think its a missed opportunity that the board doesnt increase in size as you progress. That could create a smoother learning curve and help keep things from getting dull too quickly
(or maybe it does but i didnt get to that part...)

Thanks for such detailed review!

It's very polished and the visuals are nice. The theme is disturbing but fitting :D after playing a few rounds it got repetetive though

Hi

I liked the SFX. How did you make the squicks and meows?

The cards moved and fitted into the slots very nicely.

I liked the different enemy types and the difference in initiative or play order.

Well done.

Developer

For the squicks and meows I used pre-made sound assets with a proper license. The jam rules allow using assets not made by you

This is really great! I enjoyed playing it and I felt like you had really good building in it! I feel like the one with the 7-attack tank should have been near the end, but overall this was so much fun to play!
