Oh... s-should we tell someone that Larry made an appearance?...

A nice twist on a memory match game, was not expecting the extensive lore about each fruit. It makes sense why some of the cards had other ingredients on it. I loved the tonal shift once Larry showed up.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing budder!!! I always loved your writing so it really means a lot that you liked ours

Very fun memory game! loved reading through the lore lol

Very fun memory game! loved reading through the lore lol

Developer

Yeah the lore was a bit of side content we weren't even sure we qould be able to add, luckily there was time for that I feel like it gives it a bit more of life

Submitted(+3)

I don't have great memory, but I managed to get to the socks based on vibes :)

Developer

Difficulty was an isue on some others so I can tell you it was not your fault that you couldn't reach the end lol, anyway thanks for playing!

music is very nice!! the pixel art and UI is cute, and love that Marrow included their character

Developer

Thanks Echo! Yeah Euri is really cute, I loved animating the sprites, Marrow did a great job

The secret ingredient was Larry all along.  Jokes aside, It was a really fun game. The animations, effects, and transition were all beautifully done and the flavor text attached to each ingredient was enjoyable to read

Developer(+1)

*Tastes the cake* Yup, that's Larry

Glad you liked it! To be honest, the transition animation felt a bit off when I implemented it, and it still kinda does, but there's been positive feedback on that so it's cool to see it worked out in the end.

so cute!!! such a fun idea

The sock one totally had me in stitches hahaha that was funny! I was out here sweating -- thank god you showed the cards and then let us choose them in the same order, because I ended up doing a lot of positional based memory -- e.g. remembering the layout of items in a flavor group, and so if I knew the group had apple, it must be the acidic group. Tricky, but loved the animation work on the cards, felt super smooth to play!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeah the difficulty was something that worried me a lot cause I don't see people giving more than two or three tries to this, there was gonna be no lives at the beginning, then I thought of a mechanic that would give you one life for every clean guess but I thought it would be too easy that way so I stayed on this middle ground, hope it didn't get too hard!

Also the animations and such were something I was wanting to play with for a long time since everything I've coded until now has been platformers, so it's good to have a change for once and see that it didn't go that wrong after all

Thanks for playing vicky!!!!

Submitted(+1)

had to sweat a little but I thought the difficulty was perfect! honestly the one thing that would help with difficulty is that i think just ending the level and letting your progress is better than letting you keep guessing till you die. i beat it in 2 runs, but the first time the failure was bc i tried 3 things for the same prompt and were wrong all 3 times. quitting that prompt after the first pull would make the game more forgiving and the 3 hearts more meaningful!

Developer(+1)

Yeah now that you mention it I should have gone with something like that, or maybe not have lives at all and every new card becomes a checkpoint. I was trying to make some fun and crazy experience, not really a hard game, so that's some really good feedback right there for the next time (or maybe even a post jam update)

I got so lucky on my first try with this game, the RNG kept picking wine as the secret ingredient for every meal that I simply forgot to memorize the rest lmao
The dithering transitions are really cool btw!

Developer(+1)

Guess the Euri in your game is a bit of a drinker lmao

Anyway I'm glad you liked the game, thanks for playing!!

Aww yiss used sock pie, my favourite! Great job.

Developer

We got a plate for every taste in here

PLEASE TELL LARRY HE IS WELCOME IN MY RESTAURANT THANK YOU

Developer(+2)

you have just become the next secret ingredient

Developer(+1)

You might regret that later Nana 😂

Submitted(+4)

Wee you did add the dialogue ^_^

I read it as "My uncle Larry" for some reason and I was like. Huh O_O
Anyway, I mostly got regular ingredients, and I think the first round I got all normal ones, while my second I got the "god fruit".

I lost the first round even tho I was confident, but maybe I just misremembered (It was either pear or wine, I think I picked wine, got confused it was wrong, and picked random things until I lost lol)
The slow creepiness matches the music well! And man people sure love apples there

Developer(+1)

Yeah I loved the dialogue idea since your last jam entry (the cat dressing game)

Actually I was thinking of having one of Euri's familiars as ingredients, we wanted them to become as crazy as possible, but maybe having his uncle in a cake was too much lol

Hope you liked the game!!!!! Glad to see you commenting here Nassi!!

Submitted(+3)

Hehe, I love having story and little guys, so there's most likely going to be a little yapper in all my games lmao

I'm really happy you liked it, and the last game too! The dialogue this time was an early planned feature, while last time it was struck by last minute game jam jank, butit's always fun to think of stuff to write

Anyway, I could def feel the slow descend into madness, but the encylopedia somehow helped with making it less scary! Don't know if its intentional, but seeing all the weird ingredients not being some horror hallucination but actually just fucked up breeds was less scary! Some people might find that more scary though O_O

Although I'm not sure if Larry's entry makes it worse or better, seems Euri doesn't mind tho

Oh! and the Euri sprite when eating kinda makes me think of a mii, probably the circle hands, not sure if its intentional, but it makes me smile

Developer

I love to see that you took it kinda like a horror game lol I was actually going for the goofy side, then in the Ingrediopedia I tried to mix a bit of everything, I tried to make the Ieao Uaei something alien and disgusting, something wholesome with Love and Matcha and then I tried humor with Larry, all of it in an attempt of relating every entry with apples and pears (although pears ended up getting more of a side story)

Also I still have to try your game for this jam!!! Hope I got time to play it today

Submitted

Haha I get spooked easily so maybe I'm just extra sensitive to that thing, but it did give off a horror vibe but never really went into actual horror

Also, if you want to make things go a bit faster, make sure to go into settings before playing and set it to quick, that wya you only have to do one level

(+3)

the lore is really creative haha, 🥕🥕world domination!

Developer(+2)

You don't know how glad I am that someone enjoyed the lore, I spent quite some time into it, it's really good to see that it paid off to at least one person

Glad you enjoyed Lutiax!!

Submitted(+3)

Very fun to play and I only saw one little mistake (sugar cane icon on the uh eiou fruit thing, that was gone the next round). Are the options randomized? Because 50% of my cakes were made of apples. The card flip and munching animations were really fun and a good music choice to go with it. Great little game.

Developer(+1)

the sugar cane sprite thing is intended (it is explained in the ingrediopedia!!!), and I believe the apple thing is just crazy rng lol, I've just tried it and didn't happen
also thanks for playing!!!!
