Ty! I'm happily surprised everyone seems to enjoy the gameplay ^_^

Oh wow yeah that's a unity text issue haha, I didn't take part in making this game, but if it helps the devs (assuming they used unity), I had the same issue in my game, here's how I fixed it:
I tried to fix it by checking if the coroutine is running (using a bool) and if it is and the user tries clicking again, turn the bool false, terminate the coroutine in the script, then print the full text (or start a new coroutine) after.
And I also added two breaks inside the coroutine loop that will terminate if it detects the bool has changed (if it changed to false in my case), cus coroutines are a bit finnicky. Unsure if two is required, I think I only used one and it got a bit garbled still, so I added a second! One at the very start of the loop, one at the very end.
I do have one where it will just terminate all coroutines on the script before starting a new one, but that's not user-controlled text, that one changes automatically at a fixed interval, and it will still garble if the text changes too fast, so I made it change at a slower interval, but that's not really a solution lol
It seems to have fixed the issue for me, but as mentioned, coroutines are finnicky. Can never trust them >:0!
tyy ;w; the art in your game was also so good! I remember having finished talking to Pepper and really seeing the town for the first time (was focused on dialogue before that point)
I was like "woaghh!!! The art what the heck!!! I love this!!!" and that was all i thought every time i walked into town lol, it's got such a specific vibe and it executes it amazingly ^_^
Those are some really cool ideas ^_^!
I did think about doing full keyboard support, but there wasn't enough time to the jam T_T (barely managed to get the ending implemented) but those are Def cool ways to do it ^_^
The combo timer might be too fast for that though, but score doesn't matter that much unless in endless (and even then it's bragging rights more than anything lol)
Not my first first, but some of my firsts with my bff for sure ^_^ They were our main RP ocs for a while
Also the counter is a good idea, but the items are randomly arranged, so to do that I'd probably have to make some algorithm or make it a set thing... Oh this reminds me, I should maybe upload my exam project! It was a 3D unblock me clone, but idk how well it'll do on web O_O I basically just took the levels from unblock me though, so it'll probably be hard for me to find them (they list fewest moves and stuff, so that's why it reminded me of it!)
If you haven't tried unblock me (mobile app) you might like it if you like puzzle games ^_^
If you were curious though, here's how the sorting item thing works:
The amount of boxes multiplied by 3, then multiplied again by the amount of items (item amounts are 3 in story mode, 6 in endless before finishing story, 7 otherwise)
Those are how many matches you need to do that level! If there's 15 boxes and 3 items, you need to match 45 times (you get that by dividing by the amount of items), and there's 135 items total! I had to multiply by 3, because you match 3 lol gotta make sure they add up!
Then it basically just randomly assigns all of those items into lists in each box. Which means a box might have few items, and another might have a lot!
In the script for the boxes, it goes through the list of items 6 times (and if the list of spawnable items aren't 0) , and randomly (2/3 chance) spawns in the item, but there's also a check so where at least one item spawns in the box (if there are items left) so there's no weirdness where the box is empty but there's unattainable next items, or next items show up as empty but actually has more to spawn.
Hopefully thta makes sense! It's 11pm right now and the code is honestly a bit cursed, but that's how it works ^^
Anyway, my bff did the character sketches and general art direction before they had to drop off, so that goes mainly to them!
Haha I get spooked easily so maybe I'm just extra sensitive to that thing, but it did give off a horror vibe but never really went into actual horror
Also, if you want to make things go a bit faster, make sure to go into settings before playing and set it to quick, that wya you only have to do one level
Hehe, I love having story and little guys, so there's most likely going to be a little yapper in all my games lmao
I'm really happy you liked it, and the last game too! The dialogue this time was an early planned feature, while last time it was struck by last minute game jam jank, butit's always fun to think of stuff to write
Anyway, I could def feel the slow descend into madness, but the encylopedia somehow helped with making it less scary! Don't know if its intentional, but seeing all the weird ingredients not being some horror hallucination but actually just fucked up breeds was less scary! Some people might find that more scary though O_O
Although I'm not sure if Larry's entry makes it worse or better, seems Euri doesn't mind tho
Oh! and the Euri sprite when eating kinda makes me think of a mii, probably the circle hands, not sure if its intentional, but it makes me smile
Its really fun and the art style is really cute! But it was a bit annoying that the changes were random? It does add to the difficulty, but sometimes I won't get the item I need until it's right about to land in the cauldron, since RNG wasn't on my side T_T
Still, the art style was really great and the music fitsthat very well, it's very harmonious :3c
Wee you did add the dialogue ^_^
I read it as "My uncle Larry" for some reason and I was like. Huh O_O
Anyway, I mostly got regular ingredients, and I think the first round I got all normal ones, while my second I got the "god fruit".
I lost the first round even tho I was confident, but maybe I just misremembered (It was either pear or wine, I think I picked wine, got confused it was wrong, and picked random things until I lost lol)
The slow creepiness matches the music well! And man people sure love apples there
I was trying to feed the cat all the potions lol! Like "oh what if the darkness one fills it in" and the note in the darkness potion made me think I maybe had to drink fire resistance ebfore making it, or perhaps I could give the kitty the cat eye potion and it's eyes would glow in the dark or something
It is an interesting little creature tho, kinda like glass
Yeah, I wouldn't know how either! My thought was exactly what you did, or like, making it an image, but that has its own downsides, and is kinda tedious or scary
Also yeah, same with me about sound lol, I wanted to make adjustment sliders too, but I didn't want to think about it, so I just made it really low and added mute buttons to compensate
Honestly I felt the pain much earlier but I was stubborn and wanted to finish it lmaoo, 18 was my "okay I've started to randomly click for a while, I should probably stop" I think it was around level 13-14 that I started to try the "Click and hope" method. Only worked twice tho
Also np! I always end up yapping so I'm glad you liked it!
Also yeah, coroutines scared me for the longest time, but it was simpler than I expected, just feels scary whenever people talk about it for some reason. It's basically just a regular method, but you use IEnumerator instead of void, and every loop in there is scary cus they can freeze the editor, and you always gotta remember to add a pause in coroutine loops.
(I add a "stop" variable that counts up every loop and breaks out of it after a set number to avoid this lol, but adding a pause is important cus if you don't nothing else has time to run T_T at least thats the reasoning I found while searching)
But yeah it's more or less just a regular method except you need to add pauses (cus without pauses it's just regular method) and be very mindful about infinite loops, and making sure theres a pause in the loop itself, so it doesn't brick the editor >_<
This is just what I found and experienced tho, hopefully it's not too off and no experienced programmer will smite me /silly
Very cute ^_^gets a bit laggy after a while, but that's hard to avoid with so many things moving on the screen (the movement really helps make it easier cus you can just focus on one line!)
The "pop"! effect when you hover over a button is a bit loud, but I'm pretty sensitive to stuff like that so maybe thats just me :P
Haven't been here as long as some people have, but I love seeing all the references ^O^ something to go "woagh!" at when you've been struggling to find matcha. I stopped at around level 18, cus it got too hard but there was a funny moment around level 16 where I clicked "next level" and apparently thats where matcha spawned! So I immediately went to the next level without even seeing the board lol
Whaa, EN broke free D:
To be honest, quite in character, but I don't know how that would happen O_O they all use the same audio source, just with different pitches.
Also can you elaborate at failing the game? If you wanted to ask if there was a failstate, there technically isn't one, except for softlocks. (I wanted to make a reset button, but didn't have the time.) Endless mode is endless, unless softlocked (it should be pretty unlikely to happen on accident), it ends when you decide to stop playing ^_^
The concept is super fun and I love games like these, but I couldn't get past the hair part
Whenever I gave him the glowing potion, it changed his sprite, but the dialogue from before plays? I know it says the dialogue isn't fully implemented, but I wasn't sure if this was where it ends, or if its an unintentional bug, because it seems like there is more story, even if there might not be more dialogue.
I just couldn't get past it though, and I went through the dialogue about 4 times
The dialogue was also a bit slow, but as someone who also had dialogue pains, I get it being hell on earth lol
Still, I think having the dialogue be faster or instantly print when clicked during printing would be a nice QoL addition (unsure how easy it would be in the engine) I do know you can speed up by holding, but sometimes it doesn't work? Might be lag, or maybe I didn't notice.
Oh and it took me a while to realize I had to double click the witch book, but that's probably my bad lol, I tried to drag the book open >_<
If there is more story, please let me know what I gotta do to progress! I really want to continue if it's possible. It's just that dragging the item to them counts as interacting with them, so it plays the previous dialogue again.
If you can't continue, I guess I'll just play around with the potions, cus as I said, I really do love these kinds of games, it's neat to follow recipes and do magic, the title also got me interested right away! It's the first game I clicked on actually ^_^
I was like "Gasp! How dare the witch just LEAVE the kitty like that >:(" and I found the solution to the hair problem really clever while also being intuitive (at least for me), so that's cool!
Honestly how dare you guys put the bar so high as the first group ToT thats so mean /silly
Fun video and interesting concept for sure. The characters look gritty but it feels very fitting, adds to the vibe i think. Also did not think id hear someone mention coyote time today, but tbh for a platformer it is more than recommended, so its neat ya'll had it
Definitely and entertaining game when played how its not intended lol, not sure if thats a good or bad thing though lmao
The audio scratches something in my brain, it feels like it should be annoying but it fits the graphics pretty well and gives me nostalgia for old games. And very mesmerizing tilemap
Pretty graphics :3c Nice use of dithering! Can't place my finger on what it reminds me of, but its positive.
A bit confusing about the left side of the start though. I thought that was how you like, stopped walking, but I'm guessing its a demonstration that you can move your mouse?
Edit: I think i found a glitch? Hyena started walking without the Elephant (got stuck drinking water)
This game is soo cute, the characters and just the vibe :3
I found out that for some reason, decreasing volume (fn F2 for me) causes the character to go left. Its not a big issue at all cus you only need to adjust volume once, but I thought you might want to know anyway
Theres also a tiny gap between when music ends and music starts again, not really big issues tho, but thought it might help :3
