I liked the TV-y view of the game.

Hey — I liked your game Channel13, the way the retro screen and brick-breaker gameplay blend with the haunted theme is really cool. I noticed a bug where the paddle’s movement feels overly inert, making it hard to position precisely and often frustrating the rebound timing. One suggestion: add some power-ups or variation to the brick-breaker formula (like multi-ball or exploding bricks) to keep later levels feeling fresher and more fun.
If you’ve got a moment, I’d love it if you checked out my game and dropped a rating: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

— thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃

Nice job creating this game!  I like the explosion and glow effect on the bricks when they get hit especially.  That graphical effect keeps the game interesting!

Solid brick breaker. Appreciate the feedback on hitting the brick and how many more hits the brick needs.

Very nicely done for your first game! I think Breakout/Arkanoid was my first game in Unity as well.

There were a bit of weird physics things, but others already pointed them out. Solid game. I wasn't able to beat the first level, but I also just don't have the patience for Breakout without some powerups like Arkanoid.

Interesting historical note: Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs worked on the hardware for Breakout in 1976 before they founded Apple, and some of what Wozniak developed for the game was implemented in the Apple II computer.

Nice job overall for a first game. Congrats on publishing it for a game jam!

I like breakout and this is implemented well, great colours, nice camera shake and the rare evil ball. But I agree with Kauyon_Kais that the real physics forces on the paddle are problematic, and why I couldn't even complete one level because I could never get the paddle in position, even on really easy rebounds. Quicker acceleration and more friction, I think. And as Andriks advised, use a smaller in-situ screen and let users maximize if necessary, can help people still play it if they're having performance problems with a large size. Assuming a 16:9 ratio, I use 960x540 or 960x660 depending on whether I want to leave the fullscreen button available.

Congrats on your first game! To be honest, I might have broken it by zooming in and out. If possible, check whether you can  change the size of the game in the itch.io and have the original size that was 640x360 (something like that), and if playable with the full screen  button. If resizing doesn’t work well with your game, that’s totally fine.

Congrats on submitting your game! I really liked it. The visuals were really nice, it kinda has a retro look to it. Gameplaywise it feels just like classic brick breaker should. I didn't really notice the possessed ball mechanic, but I still had a lot of fun playing it. I got to the end with 3 bricks left before losing my final life ugh Going to have to try again!

Nice vibe.  I'm not sure how likely this is, but at one point the ball was ricocheted perfectly horizontally and therefor bounced left and right, I image it would do so infinitely.  I had to quit out and restart the game.

Very juicy arkanoid game! Well done.

it looks good, responds well and plays well.

How tuned is the spawn rate for the trick mechanic? It only spawned a single time in my entire time playing

My first game was Asteroids, felt very similar! Personally, I found the inertia of the paddle to be too high, made it hard to me to accurately steer it. Music, sound and palette, as well as VFX were well chosen, nice job!

Nice game!  good physics and nice responsive controls for the paddle.  Good replay value, I would play this one while chilling out. Keep it up!

Well implemented, I didn't encounter any bugs or weirdness. I like the color scheme, the TV effect looks nice.

Well done!

Takes me back to "Super Advanced Breakout" I used to play on my Oric 48 computer....... Only not quite as advanced.  The ball looks too good and does not quite fit - it was a fuzzy square in the old days. Other than that the game plays well, your mechanics are good, and I had a wee bit of fun, thx.

Good

I really like the color palette.

It’s a solid Brick Breaker–style clone, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

I like how the blocks change colors and have a nice animation when you hit them.

The overall theme is really well done and consistent.

Improvements

I would have liked to see a few more power-ups. Maybe something that makes the ball do cooler things, spawns two balls, or adds an extra platform. Just a small extra mechanic like that could make it even more fun.

The font could have been something more CRT-style to better match the aesthetic.

It might also be nice if the score were displayed inside the game screen itself instead of outside it.

On the laptop you have to zoom out to get the game playable

Check out my game if you have time. I’d love to hear what you think!
