Ah, Cutty Sark the boat, is named after the witch from the Robert Burns poem by Tam o' Shanter, it is the style of nightdress she was wearing while dancing for the devil.
Her cutty sark o' Paisley harn, ........................................ Her short shirt of Paisley linen
That while a lassie she had worn, ............................................ That while a young girl she had worn
In longitude tho' sorely scanty, ............................................. Although severely short in length
It was her best, and she was vauntie. ............................................. It was her best, and she was proud
Tam Gets caught up in the excitement of the dance he stupidly shouts "weel done cutty sark" gets discovered - chased by the witches to the safety of nearest running water, The river Doon (as witches seemingly can't cross running water). Cutty Sark Manages to catch and pull Tams horses Tail off just as he reaches the bridge and he escapes. My photos on the games page are from the actual Kirk and cemetery that Cutty Sark danced for the devil, its not far from me.
Thanks for playing and glad you had fun.
:) Thanks for playing
Yes the camera should be smother and was on my to do list, but as with most things time was against us.
The pumpkins should not have reduced to zero, but it was the luck of the draw and I wanted it to be slightly different on each run.
I agree a ready button and also a pause button are a must for improvements.
Glad you could understand my accent, - was disappointed with how SFX turned out as I felt they did not quite fit in with the music, Another thing on to do list.
And I Totally agree about giving the player a few segments before the start of the run.
Thanks for playing and the many pertinent feedback points, Good luck.
Loved 1984 and you captured the essence perfectly. Who would ever have thought you could turn a story into a runner game for a Game Jam!
What an original concept!
If only I had thought of that!
If only we did not live in a world of doublethinking and alternative facts. Sometimes I think Orwell wrote a how to manual for our leaders to follow.
Never heard of Subway Surfers - it was Temple Run I was inspired by, but i'm sure they will be same sort of thing.
"there is not much challenge" - getting difficulty set for games is really hard and I was being really conscious that I mostly make them too difficult. At the end of each level, difficulty is increased by two random elements between Game speed, Obstacle power, witch speed, horse speed, more obstacles, pumpkins less powerful etc. I made it random to make each game slightly different. But It gets really hard, I thought too quick for a casual game.
The horse changing lanes was going to be independent but in the end for quick coding, due to time restraints and easy catching made it follow the player.
Thanks for playing and the comprehensive review - much appreciated.
It was designed to be played on phones - as are most runners of this style, thought it translated to the pc pretty good too. Yea You collect Pumking to get energy. thought this might be obscure so repeated it a few times, but nobody - me included reads the instructions. There were no powerups had ideas for them, but like everyone else ran out of time. Thanks for playing, and the comprehensive feedback.
Thanks for playing - and good score,
Good to know it is working on someone elses mobile, Godot is a bit stuttery when it starts in HTML - I have noticed many poples projects with the same issue. Also Im sure I am having memory problems if you play for a long time - Assets are probably not being freed properly. I plan on an update that reuses assets rather than deleting and remaking.
The music is not on a loop, it only plays one song per level - thought if you constantly heard it, it would get annoying. Intro has one song and game randomly chooses between two songs for a bit of variety.
Movement was deliberately limited to make the game more challenging - you are the second person to mention it and I maigh change it in the future.
I need to update the scoring system with a bonus score for leach level completed - the faster the higher. As you have noticed currently the longer you take on a level the higher you score - which is not right.
Great feedback - very appreciated.
Thanks,
"also i loved those derpy bats" - the bats were assets provided by the sponsors and GameDev.tv. I used AI - AnythingWorld https://www.anything.world/ and Blender to animate them, I thought they came out good too.
