Good game, but a little difficult to figure out what to do. Sick visuals

check out my game as well!

This game is pretty cool, it's kinda like an ancient times Plague Inc! I'll be honest, I was kind of struggling to figure out what my end goal was, I don't think there really is one, I'm pretty sure you just go infinitely. But it's very cute, and if you like these resource management kind of games, you'd probably enjoy Master of the Necropolis! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

The game has two opposite goals : surviving for as long as possible or hoarding as much gold as possible before the city fall. Usually a few decades are enough for most of the population to be dead.

Nevertheless, thanks for playing !

Oh, Okay! Is there an ending if I do one of those two long enough? I'd love to see it!

Developer(+1)

Absolutely there are two endings, but they're simple messages so you're not missing too much.

The first one come when surviving long enough. An alchemist is going to charge you more and more for extending your life until you die.

The second one come when every inhabitant of St Maurus has died.

I really liked it! The idea is very cool and fits the death theme in an interesting way.

If you have a moment, I’d love if you could check out mine too!

I REALLY liked it! it has a lot of potential, even if you said you experimented delays and redesigns I think it could end up being a great game, you just need to polish it, add zoom, more descriptions (some icons don't have explanations) and maybe even a way to expand the city and the graveyards. You have something that can be transformed into a great game, keep it up, good job so far!

Developer(+1)

I think I'll leave it for now, I may come back to that concept but I'd rather start it from scratch with every lesson learned.

Thanks for the feedback, really liked your entry !

Very fun.

This game is super fun! If you would like to, please check out the game I worked on Rate Write That Down by ElementalPenguin for Jamsepticeye - itch.io

Nice take on the theme and good effort. A little slow to get going so it needs time to play but otherwise good job.

Thanks for checking the game out !

It's a VERY well made game for a game jam. It's surprisingly in-depth and well visualized for an entry. I would say your introduction to the game could have been a bit more robust, because the city got lost before I could understand what is even going on. Had to restart a couple of times to get a good grasp.

Otherwise, well done and thank you for your review on our game.

Developer

All my jam games are this way, I try to get something big to work and then I stapple a shitty tutorial to try and make it make sense. With mixed success.

Thanks for checking the game out

Bro made an entire strategy game in 3 days, that's impressive.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing !

The same person who makes money burying people also controls where the life-saving doctors/exorcists go? Talk about a conflict of interest! Jokes aside, this was a fun game, though it kind of felt like a fight against inevitable entropy since the city seemed to decay even if I do take care of the disease and undead (fitting for the setting though!). I lasted till everyone in the city died after ~70 years, and was kind of hoping for a twist where you were secretly a necromancer and take over the city.

A few other things that I wasn't sure about was the use for ingredients. I thought they'd be the currency used for the apothecary, but they took gold instead. Perhaps it was a cut feature? There's definitely potential there! Also, some events (specifically the ones that add ingredients/corpses) don't seem to work as intended, as I don't always see the corpses/ingredients show up. Still had fun though, good job!

Hey thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback !

Those conflictual goals are a byproduct of the chaotic start of the game's developement. Until very late I wasn't sure if the goal was to keep the city alive or to kill it as quickly as possible to stack the most profit. This is also why the final screen show both your total fortune as well as the number of year survived : so you can choose your favorite goal and stick to it.

"Ingredients" are a way to increase the "hygiene" of a district. That hygiene is displayed when you click on them. The lower the hygiene get and the more likely the district is to suffer a plague outbreak. The same goes for "faith" and for undead attacks. They are not stored but immdiatly spent on a specific district.

The event that add corpes add them through the same system. Which mean that X indigents simply get added to a random district as if they had just died here.

I've tried it both way, trying to min max graveyards placement to increase the speed at which the city dies and trying to keep the best district from crumbling too rapidly and I've enjoyed them both. The city dying quickly is by design : I wanted the game to feel arcady and to be played in quick session.

Anyway, thanks again. It means a lot to get such a deep response to a quite simple game.

Surprisingly enjoyable game, had me hooked, ended with 474 gold and 36 days

Developer

Hahaha "surprisingly enjoyable" sure is a way to put it.

Thanks for playing

Haha sorry, I meant I don't normally play these types of games, so it took me by surprise that i enjoyed my time, nothing on your game, it was great

Submitted

I'm impressed! I really didn't expect to spend as much time playing it as I did. I had to make myself stop to rate other games. XD

Developer

Thanks for the kind word ! 1200 entries sure  is a tough one to get through

Wow nice work in 5 days !

Developer

It was a tough one, I was still ironing bugs on the day of release.

Thanks for playing

A very unique take on the theme. I liked the graphics and the various events with the witty flavor text. Reminded me of Frostpunk.

I had a few issues with the bigger grave placement. despite seeming to be enough space it was still showing red and not letting me place it. And it does seem like ignoring issues and not paying the apothecary is the way to go :)

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for checking the game out !

Grave placement has been a concern from the start. At first I intended for houses to be destroyable but that was making districts harder to click on. In retrospect that was a complete non-issue.

this is impressive for the time limit! going to revisit this for sure

Thanks for checking the game out !

A little difficult in the early game, but ramps up fairly quick later. The events are also a nice touch that keep you on your toes. It may have benefited me to ignore some issues to get more profit in the long term. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing ! Ignoring issues and actively making them worse is absolutely the right call if your goal is to increase profits.

Submitted

it's cute looking game but nothing happened for a long while when i played

maybe a bug?

Developer

The game is turn based, time only pass when your click on the hourglass on the top left of the screen

Very Frostpunk with lots of dilemmas! Great job. Those greedy apothecaries..

Developer(+1)

Comparing frostpunk to this piece of junk may be excessive but thanks for the compliment anyway !

Apothecaries are the scum of the earth.
