I really liked the idea, loved the art, and the ghosts are super cute!
If you have a moment, I’d love if you could check out mine too!
Play it here: https://kaijota.itch.io/graverun
Watch the gameplay on YouTube:
I think the art really elevated my game beyond what it would otherwise be too! Thanks for playing, I checked out your game too!
Cute girls save
secondlives, confirmed.I think adding a button to add +2/+5 essence below the main button would have been nice to speed up the process of improving stats.
Not a bad idea, thank you! And for playing my game too!
I was only 3 off nooooo! Poor Sophie. I may have been to careful at the start haha. Had a lot of fun with this one. I think it was super creative too going with the norse theme.
RNG can really work against you too (something I need to tweak), better luck next time! Thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad to hear you liked my game!
Really polished and I like the visuals! I'm typically really good at these kinda games but I really sucked at this one LOL. Really well made, especially with only five days!
You might have gotten hit with bad RNG, balancing the game was one of the main things I had difficulty with xD Thanks for playing my game!
Of all the "afterlife paper-please" I played during this jam I think yours is by far the most polished. Really pretty game, love the ambiance and the visual for Sophie.
I was cruising along, thinking the game was rather easy until "I did not hit my quota" got me like a brick to the face, love how demanding the game is with its simple premise, especially right when I was getting complacent with my essences.
Speaking of which, I think we're keeping our essences when starting a new game. Sort of like an accidental new game +. It gave me a headstart on my second playthrough.
Extremely solid entry overall, dialogues are rares but pleasing, the game doesn't outstay its welcome. I just wish complete morons would stop showing up to the gate of Valhalla right when Odin decides we're looking for geniuses.
Still, I'm rooting for you Bob !
Thank you so much for your feedback! Bob's addition was a bit rushed but I'm glad to hear you liked his dialogues, and yes RNG can be really annoying at times. The essence carrying over is an UI bug (the backend variables are reset, but the UI didn't reflect it), but has now been patched. Thanks again for playing my game!
Yup, my second playthrough was smooth sailing from start to finish. Had the priorized stats be "none" three times in a row which made the game a breeze. I was a bit sad to see that bob never come back if you reject him the second time but I guess he'll just have to try with the next valkyrie.
Super cute! LOve it, love the style - great job :D
Thank you so much! ^^
Such a simple, fun, addicting game. Good work! I love the little valkyrie.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Funny enough we went for a similar concept, so it was interesting to see your interpretation. Good job!
Thank you! I played your game and saw you went for a more serious route with more focus on the paperwork aspect, cool! I do like how the same idea can have so many different interpretations.
really awesome game I loved it!! Please check out my game if you get the chance!!
Thank you!
The sheer randomness of some of the stat requirements feels a bit jarring, especially when paired with the required stat. (Can make it kinda hard to process any ghosts on some days.) But at the same time, the fix rewards and the fixed cost of essence actually makes it kinda easy to game at the same time.
I love the visuals and the premises in solid. I could see a future for this game if you chose to continue development.
Thanks for the feedback! Balance was definitely something I had trouble working out for this game, so I absolutely understand what you're saying about the randomness. It's something I'll look into if I go further with this game. Thanks again!
Did I nuke my entire first run at the literal LAST soul just to get Bob into Valhalla?
Yes, and I'll do it again (and did!!) cause I don't think he leaves after the second rejection, and I don't intend to find out! (What happens if we reject him, though? And we get promoted after?? The thought of not seeing him up there sickens me!!)
My second play through I swear was a wildly different experience cause the RNG gods (if this game has any) decided to go SUPER easy on me!
I think I got a bug where after I failed the first time, most of my vials followed me into the next run. I think it corrected itself after the first soul, though, cause I noticed a few went back to 100. But I can't be sure cause I wasn't fully paying attention to it as I LOCKED IN for round two!! 😅
All in all, great game and overall experience! 🫶🏽
The hamingja (Norse guardian spirit that dictates luck) saw your sacrifice to save Bob and blessed your second run! Other than during the ending, there's no fourth meeting with Bob, so if you did get promoted at the end of the week without sending Bob to Valhalla, you'd never see him again. And yeah, I must have forgotten to update the essence gauge after a restart, thanks for catching that!
And thank you for playing! Bob was a last minute addition so his arc was a bit rushed, but I'm glad you liked him still! Thanks again~
Interesting idea. Lots of looking back and forth across the numbers. Music suited the game and the opening cutscene was effective at telling the story.
Oh, that's a good point about needing to look back and forth between numbers a lot. I could have probably positioned it better. Thanks for your feedback, and for playing my game!
Cool game. I liked having to decide if to boost 3 or 4 stats total for the bonus
Thank you! I wanted to give the player the extra options/considerations, and am glad to hear to hear it came through!
interesting take, not accurate to Valkyrie lore, but I like the papers please feel
I know, this is just my take on what Valkyries might be like in a post-Ragnarok modern world. Thanks for playing!
very cute game, reminds me of papers please
Thanks! Papers Please was definitely one of the inspirations for this game.
