Cool game! Works great and there is definitely some delicate balancing when selecting upgrades. My initial run had only 5 rooms in a + sign and I was a bit confused as I couldn't progress anywhere after killing all enemies, got a bit more to play once I restarted.

Developer

Yeah. We knew that this could rarely happen but didn’t have the time to implement an adequate fix

very nice little shooter, well done. I wonder why I want to play Enter the Gungeon now... no idea 😄

Aww yiss, I managed to build up my elephant gun with absurd stacks of burst fire and multi-shot.  I had to spend an hour reloading every time I pulled the trigger, but it was worth it.  I'm not sure if I was missing something, but there didn't appear to be any way to restore lost health.  This would have been nice in order to make it deeper into The Gungeon Biscuit H3ll.

at first I didn't like the reload and thought some of the bullets were too fast, but then after fixing my skill issue I started to really enjoy the game. the game has a relatively good skill ceiling and a lot of things to think about. It's also good that the dodge isn't abusable and you need to rely on your dodging skills to live. One thing you could add is a small delay when you get put back in to the game after leveling up. this makes it easier to drop back in to the game with context without being suddenly bombarded with bullets.

either way, good game👍

I like the idea and inspiration from Enter the Gungeon. The procedural level generation was cool and the upgrade + risk mechanic between level ups was fun (we implemented something similar for our game)! The combat was a bit frustrating, I feel the enemy bullets could have been slowed down a bit to make it easier to dodge. Some amount of invincibility frames after being hit would also be helpful to avoid the string of shots killing you immediately. Nice work!

This was so much fun!!! I really loved the mechanic where you could get bonus ammo, it made it a fun challenge to concentrate on that and enemies at the same time. My only criticism is that there wasn't a controls guide, I kept forgetting how to dodge XD. Other than that amazing job guys!

Can't tell if procedurally generated or not, but would be awesome to see this game extended with procedural generation. Your game was on the nose for the theme, and executed well.  Thank you for sharing!

Oh yes, the levels are generated anew at the start of each run. @Doriansnowball had a lot of fun figuring this out on the first day :D

It's a fun concept — I like the level-up system in this bullet-hell-type game! However, I must say that if you're unlucky, you get hit a lot!

Really fun concept, I liked how the risk comes with the level up rewards and also the fact that you have to get the timing to replenish your bullets.
If I could suggest an improvement, maybe adding feedbacks when you can't dodge and a little tutorial how to refill your bullets cause I just had to click all the button until I found out. Also the fact that if you take on bullet you take all the other that comes with it is a little punishing I think.
Overall, great job — impressive work for such a short time!

I also joined the Brackeys Jam with my team, we made a roguelike about delivering a cookie to the king. If you feel like trying it out, go check it out. I’d love to hear your thoughts too!

Nice Work! The game geels balanced and replayable, which is great. I think the UI could be more polished to match the rest of the game.

Hell yeah! Great job on this one, slowly levelling up and getting better was satisying! It was a bit hard to read where enemies would be when I went into a new room or started the game, adding a small timer where they're inactive when they spawn could be nice. (Not sure if there was a way to heal too?) either way, great job and love the little effect you added when a bullet his something. I reached level 5 but I might come back and see if I can get further!

Nice feel to it, I like the upgrade system and the combat seems balanced.

My only suggestion is to prevent the upgrade window from reacting to pressed button mouse. I've skipped first 3 upgrades because I didn't realise my pressed down button was picking an upgrade.

The game is nice! I likes the shooting aspect of it and the pixel style adds a retro vibe to the whole game. I didn't feel the theme as much but the game was fun! Overall well done!

Fun game, but I definitely needed to play this in full screen to feel like I had any sort of control. Still pretty fun!

Had fun playing this! Seems like ETG as a rogue like type beat. Same comments for the dash mechanic as everyone, and i feel like the enemy bullet is too fast w.r.t to your movement speed.

Nice take on the inspiration, well executed!

Awesome game!  The art was so cool,  I like the gameplay, a shooting game, although I got messed up by the dude with the fast and many bullets, I appreciate the fluid motion of the controls. Overall ,  I enjoyed playing this one! congratulations!

I like the pixel art and the reload mechanic. Excellent job! Good luck in the game jam!

Pretty neat! I liked the active reload mechanic and the art. The risk/reward part of this game is executed well.

Cool concept! Visuals are nice and simple, a nice, easy to read, color palette. As others have stated not being able to tell when a dodge is ready is a shame, as when the upgrade gives me a shorter dodge cooldown my only way of knowing how fast I'm able to dodge again is by spamming the dodge button and then I'm no longer using it strategically. I do really like the decision making in the level up despite having a hard time tracking your stats. Reloading is pretty cool, as far as I could tell even if you miss it slightly you still get fully punished and don't get any ammo, I think you should still be able to get some ammo if you're a little off as otherwise you're more focused on reloading perfectly than the actual bullets, but a cool mechanic anyway that was fun. Awesome work!
