How does your game fit the theme?
The narrative of 'Tosco Salami' revolves around the POV character Alfie being trapped in a time loop, thus fufilling the loop theme. On top of this, thematically, the game is very much about cycles of wanting and obsession -- a 'looping' thought pattern if you will -- and I feel the themes and ending tie in with the loop theme very well.

I love the art style and of this game, and it also has a really good story! Well done!

I did not expect to play a visual novel, and I did not expect to bump into such a well written short story. Memeing about the subject matter aside, this reads like a real short horror story with genuine twists, endearing characters, and has plenty of fun with its themes (that is, the salami, I guess??)

I can safely say you displeased god alright but not me, which means I might be damned, but at least I won't be alone and it's still better than working at TOSCO

Approved.

Is there anything more Sisphyean than stocking cans at Tosco?

Witty and memorable writing that works with the theme, doesn't overstay its welcome, I really enjoyed this! Lovely work on the art and audio in service of the story telling, and some nice usage of ren'py features.

I rate a Tosco Clubcard/10

Developer

Ahh, thank you!!!! Will happily take the Tosco Clubcard haha (:

NOT THE TOSCO DEAL MEAL!!!

Developer

I love my [insert sandwich with mayonnaise] and [insert flavour of Walker's crisps] and [insert drink] Tosco meal lol

So... what did I just play? Yeah... I'm just gonna throw out the salami from my fridge now, thanks.

I aim to make games that displease God, and this jam I seem to have succeed lol

Submitted(+1)

oh god, this scares me a lot, u really cooked my friend, good job, it would be better if there was less dialogues in some parts however good job deserves 5stars in all the aspects

Developer

Glad to cause horror, and thank you so much! I enjoyed your game. too (:

Submitted(+1)

What an experience this was o_o I liked the flavor of horror, without any jumpscares. The dialogues were also really good. But what the hell is Tosco Salami???

Developer

Thank you!!! And Tosco Salami is just... Tosco Salami lol (very distinct from British supermarket chain Tesco, obviously)

Submitted(+1)

this was an experience I won't forget

Submitted(+1)

But where was the Salami...
----

Loved the concept and the execution. I'm amazed you were able to get the idea cross is such a short span of time. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! And yeah, doing this over 4 days in Ren'py was a bit of a nightmare haha. Glad you enjoyed (:!

I can't help but have to ask, do you work at Tesco? 😂 To be honest, there was too much text for me, but I still liked the game. I was a little scared a few times, which was probably the point, so just FYI, it worked for me :D

If you have time, I would be very grateful if you could rate my game as well 😊

Developer(+1)

I shockingly don't, but as I'm a uni student in a small town in the UK more than half of my friends do haha

And glad that the atmosphere worked for you! Totally get that VNs aren't everyone's cup of tea -- esepcially with something like this that leans more 'novel' than 'visual' -- but glad you got something out of it regardless. Enjoyed your game, btw (:!

God, what does a girl have to do to get some Salami around here.. SMH. (Also, "Is there anything more sisyphean than" is such a raw opening quote, I love it)

Very nice ! I loved the "creepy" vibes of the place. It felt stressful kinda. It required some voiceovers or some "blablabla noises" for the dialogues, it felt kinda bland to me (totally not me being to lazy to read) but very well written ! The art looks really good and yea, overall pretty nice game !

Thank you for the feedback! This was my first time using Ren'Py for a jam, and I ran into so much audio issues, because turns out Ren'Py only accepts like two audio formats and has the worst audio system I've ever witnessed in a game engine lol. Next time, I'm definitely prepping some audio a couple in advance. It'll help the gamers read lol

Absolutely incredible! Such an incredible narrative that managed to surprise and freak me out on several occasions. Everything amazing, from the somewhat sparce but cleverly placed audio to the jump scares to the fourth wall break.

Developer(+1)

Ahh, thank you so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed (:

You did a good job with the creepy vibes. It also fit in well with the setting of a repetitive day job.
