Thank you for the honest feedback, this game could 100% benefit from having more player input, and as of now its super easy to just get screwed over by the RNG. At one point, I was considering having the player ball's sword orient itself towards the mouse (And knockback too so you can actually avoid getting hit), but I wasn't sure how I would make that work with mobile.

100%, I was thinking this too. I honestly think all of the skills need to be entirely redone because:

  1. The code for the skills right now is actual hot garbage 😭
  2. The skills aren't actually all that interesting, and having more permanent power boost other than speed and health (Like permanently increasing sword size or other new weapons) would be very nice.

Honestly, calling it an 'idle' game was more of an afterthought (It's idle only in the vein that you don't have control over the ball 😢). If I ever expand on this I will definitely lean more into being a proper idler with permanent, impactful upgrades

I think that having more audial/visual feedback on getting hit and hitting enemies could have gone a long way (Screen shake, particles, floating numbers and such). I do think the concept here is pretty interesting and I would like to see it fleshed out more.

I did think that having to wait an entire rotation to hit the enemy again was slightly frustrating, or maybe its a skill issue on my part. Also for the space background, I think you could get a lot out of swapping it for a "space background" shader rather than it being just a flat texture. Otherwise, the visuals were pretty great, I especially was impressed with the particles on the flamethrower.

I do wish I could press 'Z' or some other button to reverse a step, rather than having to reset the entire level. The visual polish in this game is outstanding though, I enjoyed playing this

I felt like such a smart individual when I finally realized I could change the map color by pushing boxes across the boundary. Great puzzle game.

The art was very clean and the core gameplay mechanic was implemented very well

God, what does a girl have to do to get some Salami around here.. SMH. (Also, "Is there anything more sisyphean than" is such a raw opening quote, I love it)

Maybe it is because I wasn't looking hard enough but I'm surprised that this is the first game in this game jam I've seen which features an ouroboros. This was really awesome

Funny lil dudes 😊

This game definitely stands out aesthetically. I did clip through the road several times and get stuck on some of the garbage littering the street several times 😢

Also, if you are interested in improving on the car physics, I would definitely 100% recommend this video by Toyful Games for car physics in Unity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdPYlj5uZeI&t=1237s

I got pretty far in (I think..) but then I fell and fell onto a previous spawn point 😭

I thought this game was nice and cozy. If by chance you are contemplating what you want to add to give the gameplay more depth (I saw in your description that you plan to update this), I would recommend looking at some gameplay of Touhou Mystia's Izakaya. I feel that game is also in the same vein as yours.

Holy moly............

I love this game everything about it is perfect

I've seen the stock images used in the thumbnail in my Japanese textbook several times, so I did some digging and found out they are from Irasutoya (Stock image website). I thought that was fun.

I don't usually enjoy puzzle games, but this one I couldn't just stop at one level, or two, or three I had to do it all

Doughnuts fear me. Children fear me. Babies turn their eyes away from me. As I walk, no infant dare make a sound in my presence. I am alone on this barren earth.

I didn't expect a game about kissing frogs to carry such a compelling message....

Scratch my beloved 😊

One must imagine Larry happy...

Horrifying.. (I really really like the art style, it is very distinct)

I'm telling my children this was NASCAR

I started losing it when I saw the fishing minigame pop up right before the euthanasia coaster terminated my connection with life. Also, the music f*cks

Holy peak.... Such immaculate voice acting. From now on I will talk about my life in two time periods, before I played this masterpiece and after

I really liked the opening cut-scene and I think the concept is very compelling. Unfortunately, certain IP aggressive game company is tracking your location via satellite and 5G cell towers as we speak :(

Are the "models" for the cars actually just multiple flat planes stacked on top of eachother or am I mistaken. If so, sprite stacking is very awesome

I am a sucker for ASCII graphics, and seeing numbers go up, and my god has this game done exactly that

I love you Screaming Brain Studios 🤭

You should not be allowed to make a game this addicting and live to tell the tale...

It is amazing.

There is so much happening on screen.

No sane member of a functioning society could have made this...

10/10

I took a shot at this one and I have some good things to say. I can tell you put a lot of effort into this one, I liked the lore you wrote for the game and the concept of manipulating luck. The character portraits are also really nice to look at. This was very cool, I hope it doesn't get slept on.

I was thinking the same thing, there isn't really any solid gameplay loop. The reason? I panicked lol. I just knew that if I had to implement anything it was going to be storing characters online and all that.

(1 edit)

You happen to be in luck then ;). I used Godot 4 to make my game, and https://silentwolf.com/ host a plugin/online service for storing leaderboards and other sort of data. (I should also mention that this service is completely free, somehow...)

Its got that signature Katamari vibe. 10/10

Seija :)

I can tell you put a lot of love into this game, it really shows. The pixel art is super nice and clean, the gameplay feels very cohesive and speedy the way you can clear sectors quickly. I love this.

Double loves cheese, and in the event he falls to the dungeon, all he has to say is a simple "Goodbye." ;)

The Vampire Survivor's formula is very addictive. This is a perfect game (Bonus points for attractive vampire lady)
