What a wild game! I absolutely love the concept  recursion-based puzzles are brilliant, and the execution here makes it genuinely fun to experiment and create some mind-bending combos. 😍

Fascinating! I had a lot of fun with this, It was intimidating at first but I found it very forgiving to just experiment with which made the experience that much better. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to crash the game no matter what incomprehensible horror I made :P (jk) Great work! I'll keep an eye out for that full release

Developer

Thanks for playing!
We're planning to add more render modes for the full release, one of them do go exponential, so you might be able to achieve your goal in the full release :P

Your Average rank is #895 in GMTK 2025! Congrats!

I felt bad that there is no average score, because some teams aimed for all categories, not just one. So I just scrapped the results page and made a table. I agree with Mark that "Overall" is questionable, but I still think "Average" is a valuable score, so I decided to share it.

Thanks to everyone who played our game! We're very excited about the results. (Especially as our first jam!)
We have already begun working on turning this into a full game (probably with hundreds of levels, and also sandbox mode!), stay tuned for that!

In the meantime, we have released a post-jam version that fixes some common bugs and UX issues. Specifically:

  • Increase the snap grid size on some levels to make it easier to align parts. (Note that you can hold shift to disable snapping if you just want to play around a bit.)
  • Hovering/selecting parts is more intuitive. Making it less likely to move the wrong part accidentally.
  • A tooltip is now displayed for the hovered part.
  • Disallow rotating the camera on some levels to avoid confusion.
  • Decrease the match score threshold on the Snowflake level to allow for some alternative solutions.
  • Fix lens layering in Warp Tunnel.

Note that the post-jam version only includes small QoL improvements and bug fixes. Stay tuned for the full game for new levels & mechanics!

congrats! well-deserved on the great results :)

Crazy crazy game! Absolutelly love the concept, a recursion-based puzzle is a great concept and the way it's executed here just makes it plain fun to mess with and truly create some mathematical abominations. The detection is a little finnicky sometimes but it's sort of understandable with this complex a game. Easily one of the most creative games I've played this jam.

Submitted(+1)

Yup ok, even if I managed to finish most of the level, I still don't understand how I did it. That's quite an amazing interactive experience you've got here. The scoring is what's really making it a game, but it feels too pixel perfect atm. Now I'd love to see an iteration of the game using light and prisms x)

More seriously, very neat and one of the most original take on the theme so far.

Submitted(+1)

what a crazy game to play, the most creative take on the loop theme i've seen. how you even came up with this is beyond me. awesome stuff guys!

Submitted(+2)

This is definitely the most unique game I've played in the jam. The core mechanic is interesting and it's just darn fun to fiddle around with the different elements and see what generates.

Submitted(+2)

Wow, this was super cool! What a unique idea too: I love games that use the forth wall (like in-game cameras or perspective) in their solutions, and in this game it WAS the solution. What fun!

As others have mentioned, the scoring could use a bit of tweaking... but the fact you could choose any level made it so that wasn't a barrier for my enjoyment.

Would love to see some more levels, and I'm excited to see where this goes after the jam finishes!

Developer

We intend to continue exploring more ways to play with this mechanic afterward, beyond just piecing together patterns! We believe the potential of this mechanic is endless, and we hope to make it Turing complete, so stay tuned!

Submitted(+2)

That was the most nerd thing i've ever seen in a game, just like I love in jams. Literaly the best game on the jam, you must win this!!!!

Submitted(+2)

This is so cool! also just a lot of fun to play around with! My only problem is the rating system didn't seem to always recognize the patterns (even if to my eye they look identical), but very fun anyway!

Developer

Thanks for playing!
The rating system is definitely way too pixel-perfect right now. Also, I didn't take into account some mechanics when designing the levels, so certain solutions won't work (e.g. rotating the camera instead of the display)

Really really unique game idea!! I think a undo button would be a really nice addition if you guys decided to develop the game after the jam! Great job with this!

I did get a weird thing however where the branches were spazzing out when there was a green filter on it, as well as the hue shifter seemingly not working, not sure if its due to my device platform or something.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The UX of this game definitely needs a lot more polish.
There is a known issue with the hue shifting lens where, if you place it before you place the display, it won't work.
I wasn't able to reproduce the "branches spazzing out" problem, though. Can you give more details on it?

Submitted(+1)

I can't seem to reproduce it anymore, which means it was probably pretty minor! I'll let you know if I can figure it out

Submitted(+2)

Wow, really good job on the level design! It would be super helpful to have a 'Send image forward/backward' option on right-click or some feature of that sort (like how they have it in PowerPoint, Figma, or Google Slides). I kept accidentally moving the wrong objects when everything was overlapping.  Overall great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it.
I actually have a layering system in the game already, where different parts exist in different layers. I planned to make it possible to disable selecting parts on certain layers, but we ran out of time in the end.

Submitted(+2)

This is a cool way to interpret this year's theme ! Plus this feels fun to interract with.

(PS: Might have gotten nerd snipped :)

Submitted(+2)

I love the concept of recursivity and camera. Very cool!

Submitted(+2)

This is a really cool looking game and the puzzle experience is pretty mind bending! I like it!

Submitted(+2)

Ooh, I really like the design of this game! It gives a very zen feeling and the deceptively simple mechanics give rise to really nice moments of gameplay and puzzling :)

I was blocked a bit on the Hue Shifting Lens bug in "Warp Tunnel", but thanks for pointing it out in your game page!

Submitted(+2)

very creative entry and impressive implementation, I really enjoyed it!

Inspired by "I am a Strange Loop" by Hofstadter perchance? if not, even more impressive. well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!
Actually, it's inspired by this video by Tom Wildenhain.
That book seems interesting though. I'll check it out.

Very impressively put together. This game shows how fractals are made in a surprisingly clean and intuitive way, and turning that concept into a puzzle game is very clever.
