Great game but these kinds of games are really tricky for me

Submitted

Very nicely done on all fronts - gameplay, audio, art. For some reason I struggled to understand how to connect the tracks to the end of the starting track, so I cleared most levels with the train exploding during the victory screen :D

Really enjoyed your game. I found the height adjustment to be super sensitive. When you scroll with mouse wheel, sometimes it goes way beyond or below the height I wanted. The sound of the roller coaster zooming and getting to the end was very satisfying.

As someone who played a lot of roller coaster tycoon growing up, I am impressed! There is a lot of functionality in this for a game jam. I also like the mix of building a coaster and collecting orbs, which was a fun constraint. I don't think I noticed any other secondary prizes related to speed or G-Force, but that could be cool. Maybe like, extra stars.

The control was a little finicky sometimes, and it would add extra nodes as I dragged forward. I'm not sure if that was by design or not. :)

Great job!

Very cool game - impressive to have done in the time requirement, and great graphics! The main comment I have is that there is some oddities with clipping with the ground, and I feel like the splines can be a bit wonky sometimes. Otherwise, great!

Submitted

Yo this is fantastic! I had a similar idea in my game. You clearly have a lot of experience with splines and custom physics! well done

Cool game! I love the art style!

Very cool game and quite sophisticated for a jam. I am missing some level selection because I got stuck in level 3, like 2-3 times, and had to restart the whole game.

For some reason, the first time I got to level 3, I wasn’t able to build anything. The second time I got to level 3, I was able to build, so I outlined an initial shape of my roller coaster first, but one of the red points got created inside of the already existing (initial) track, and I was unable to interact with it (could not move it or delete it). Therefore, I was stuck and could not progress. After pressing the bin button, my build got deleted (as I was expecting), but then I was unable to start building again, so I had to restart the game once more.

"Feels like riding a coaster in your mind—twists, turns, and 'aha!' moments!"

Cool concept, and definitely impressive for a game jam timeline—great job!
Though I got pretty frustrated with the final looping point—couldn’t tell if it was automatic or manual. Maybe a clearer indicator would help?

Very fun and very polished! Seeing my cart crash always made me chuckle :)

Was very cool seeing another rollercoaster with crashing! I originally wanted to loop the track as well but to procedurally generate a cool track and loop it back is way too complicated for me. Love the track drawing mechanic you made!

Awesome to see such different takes on the roller coaster theme :D I loved your addictive mechanics as well!

Nice game. I also saw your video. I especially like the sfx of the game.

I spotted this game through your video that you posted discussing its development. This game seems really polished and well done! Reminds me a lot of Roller Coaster Tycoon... which I never played, so I cant actually speak to how valid this comparison is haha. The art style/visuals are really solid, and the sound effects are pretty great for creating and riding the tracks. I think the controls are decent given the amount of functions you're able to do, and what you're able to do in this game is really technically impressive! I struggled to get past the tutorial, however, as I couldn't build enough momentum to reach the highest orb - considering most of the other comments haven't mentioned it, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say that I'm stupid. Really polished and nicely made game, impressive work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! You're most definitely not stupid, if anything it's the designer's fault :D
Generally you get an initial boost on the start and with that momentum you should be able to reach the highest orb, but I realized that the first level turned out slightly too hard to serve as a good tutorial.

Haha yeah, I think having a tutorial on track heights and momentum being relegated to the second level would have been a good idea. Still a very impressive game, hats off to you!

Great game! The puzzles were challenging and the physics made it fun to just goof around.

I really loved this idea, the physics and the look are amazing, but I have a couple of problems with the game. First, there is a bug that, if you place some points and delete them all, for some reason you can't place them anymore, and it forces you to restart the entire game. It's frustrating, and for this reason I couldn't get to finish it. Also, this one i guess it's my fault, but the camera moves way too much when trying to do so, and I think it's because of my low framerate. Still, really good game, and it's really impressive that you managed to do all of this in such a short time, nice job!

good job

This is some nice (german? I assume), engineering, And impressive to build a whole roller coaster editor in this time, Love the theme.

Awesome work. Seeing the work you did in your video made the experience that much better

Congrats on the game! I loved the concept (I thought of something similar but racing tracks instead of rollercoasters), and the game is fairly complex to be built in the span of the jam, quite a feat! The controls did get in the way sometimes, but even so, a great game!
