I think the room upgrades sadly don't work so generating coins is extremely slow. The puzzles were difficult for the most part, but very satisfying. A mix of puzzle and hand eye coordination to move the piece through the path you plan in the 10 seconds allotted. The concept of this game is extremely good. It would be nice if during puzzles there was a sidebar that mentioned what each piece does, similar to the one on your game page.

I played for like 30 minutes before I realized I had to actually ASSIGN Nerissa to a room lmao. I thought I was just bugged or something that the room was always empty even as I kept upgrading her.

I thought the game to get different currencies was interesting, although I never quite understood the way the grems worked fully. Worst case was when they accidentally destroyed the green pieces I was farming to rank up a girl. Led to me sometimes not using them because there were two greens on board and I didn't want to lose one while I tried to get a third

I liked the music and the art. Everything looks so nice!

The puzzles were challenging and the coin earning aspect was also interesting.

However, the game bugged on me and that soured my experience.

Bugs that happened to me:

- The puzzle got locked after a takodachi round where a single spot was left blank in the grid, stopping the game from progressing into the next turn. This blocked me from getting more stars and unlocking other talents. :(

- Upgrading the bedroom didn't seem to do anything. The heart/coin gain stayed at 10 each in the bedroom even after I managed to raise it to level 27. This made the game extremely slow to collect enough for the next money earning room. Even after leaving the game running for hours, I was waaay too far from the 5 million required.

- Upgrading the break room did increase its power, but the level indicator on screen stayed at Lv 1. However, leaving Nerissa's purple thingy fill up to 100/100 didn't seem to have any effect on the game, so I couldn't figure out what was the point of this room.

Hopefully you get the game working properly after the jam. I would love to get the full experience!

Finally my Puzzle & Dragons skills can be put to use! This game is a lot of fun and there is a lot to do! I think putting all of the information on the game page into the game itself would be convenient (so I wouldn't have to keep alt-tabbing to check some info 😅). Nonetheless, I enjoyed playing! I also really like and appreciate all of the small details put in the art! All of the little things like all the talents in the room decorations and etc. are great!

Wait I already played this over an hour?! First of all, very addicting gameplay loop of play to earn coins and then upgrade to play to earn more coins! Shocking amount of contents in just the duration of the Jam! Not to mention, the pixel arts here are amazing, with cute little detail seeing them interact with the room and the music is very chill!

As for the comments, I do really feel like this game need a lot explanation especially conveying on which puzzle pieces does what (for example, I only realized Gem increase modifier by reading the game page). For the bugs I think there are 2 that stands out to me. 1. when I upgrade the room, the income earned does not increase for some reason 2. the puzzles piece does not seem to be restricted by grid, making it sometimes "shuffle" other pieces when I move them out of their gird.

That said, I think this game is AMAZING and crazy ADDICTING that I find a hard time to put it down! Bravo to the team!

Submitted(+1)

PS. This is the "Shuffle" bug that I mentioned.

Developer(+1)

the pieces are actually allowed to do that! So you can make multiple matches in 1 move, make it so another match is lined up when the current matches clear, etc. The movement is all based on Puzzles and Dragons!

I do want to make a little tutorial level eventually to explain how everything works, but that will require some time to make lol

Submitted(+1)

Ah I see, my mistake. That clear things up a lot! Cheers!

Great game! Found the puzzles way too hard for me, but the art and music were really great, and it's cool how many systems were implemented in such a short time frame. Fantastic job!

Submitted(+2)

Extremely impressive amount of content for the time of the game jam, also love the artistic style.

A solid entry, the art is amazing and so is the music and the SFX! I liked the use of puzzles and the part they played in regards to the simulation (you gotta spice up the typical idol manager-type gameplay somehow). It's hard to believe it only took you two weeks, keep up the good work!

If I had to point out anything, I would prefer to have some clear instructions or a tutorial for the puzzles. I don't play those often, and failed quite a lot. I still have no idea what some of the counters did/meant.

Theme of the gamejam aside, if I got a tutorial at the start I would honestly struggle to pick something to "complain" about. Great job!

Maybe I should stop playing it. I'm kinda addicted xDD Really fun game and some can play it for a LONG time and still can't stop cause addiction hits xD Well done!

Developer(+1)

Honestly, I caught myself playing for a while I was supposed to be in the middle of debugging LOL wish we had time to implement a save system, but I'll get that out after the review period ends! (Already made a bunch of QoL changes and bugfixes I couldnt finish in time) Thanks for playing!

It is exactly as I feared, I'm actually atrocious at this game... I think the highest score I got was 43k, and it took engaging all of my brain for it ;-;

But this is a really fun game, blends two genres that I never expected to be seen put together, and the art is actually God tier. In general, really great vibes on this project.

I will log my complaint about no saving, especially in a sim game like this, but it's definitely out of scope to try to store all the information going on as far as the management set up, not at all feasible to try to squeeze that into these 2 weeks.

Might be me reading into it, but I like how the talents you can recruit all relate to Rissa in some way, since you start with her (well, Ina I'm not too sure about, is it actually just each team member's oshis?), and though I didn't get the chance to see the ships that unlock, I'm sure they were banger.

Alright, yap over. Thanks for putting the game together, team!

Developer(+2)

thank you so much for playing and this comment!
how we chose the talents for the game was literally like:
1: i like gigi
2: Me too! Me too!
1: i like ina
2: Me too! Me too!
etc

Developer(+1)

Yea the point goals def can be better balanced LOL but we didn't have much time to do much balancing. I do wish we couldve gotten a save system up in time but like what you said, it is what it is. Like Mytho said, the idols were mainly just who we liked and it happened to turn out that way haha Thanks again for the support!

Super cute little game! It was fun although a little confusing at the start, but I was able to get a hang of it after a few plays. I am, however, doodoo water at the puzzle so the game was just me and Rissa hanging out, lol

Developer(+1)

artist here! im also doodoo at the puzzles so it is you, me and nerissa hanging out. thanks for playing

Submitted(+2)

The puzzle games are fun. Unfortunately they have a chance bug out and soft-lock, result in missing pieces and unable to interact with the puzzle.
Art is really cute too.

Bugs T-T
Thank you for playinf!

Developer

Those bugs should be fixed and ready for an update after the jam ends! I knew what couldve happened but never ran into it during testing so I couldn't dedicate time to debugging it. But it will be fixed later on! Thanks again for playing!

Nice combination of a puzzle game and management sim. The pixel art was great as well. There were some things that were unclear to me like how I was unsure what made me win the puzzles, but it was fun overall and the visual vibe was great!

Developer

thank you for playing!

cool and really chill game once you get used to the mechanics. felt really confused at first since didn't know where to even start and couldn't make sense of the move system or the level mechanics

the levels are a cool idea to unlock the characters but didn't figure out until i finished the second boss level by mistake, which you can access at any point (i imagine the idea would be progressive levels on how they're ordered)

really liked the management system, at some point though i mixed the angsty heads in the collab puzzle and the angst levels of both idols just stuck at permanent 100 angst ;_;

the art looks amazing and the music is really chill, really liked the mood

it has a lot of potential, hope you keep working on it

Developer(+1)

artist here! muchas gracias Juan!

This felt made for me. Puzzle and Dragons was my JAM back in the day! And I loved the little management game on the side. This would actually make for a pretty  solid mobile game structure! Great project!

Developer

Glad someone else picked up on the Puzzles and Dragons aspect! I wasn't much of an avid player but I've always loved the gameplay (lost my original account tho rip...) There's so manymore features we wanted to add that we had to cut, but it was a ton of fun to make. Thanks for the support!

simple, fun game, even though i don't quite understand half of the mechanics. is it intentional to be able to move a single symbol around as much as you like and use up all of your moves in one? it's quite broken, i was able to get hundreds of thousands of points each play.
